aww the handkerchif thing is so cute! people actually used to do that

smiling and some eye contact is a good place to start i think. just to look approachable and to show him attention too. you can look very pretty but if you dont look approachable a lot of men dont take the chance.

obviously to look your best that doesnt hurt (play up your venus traits :p) but also give him hints, give him some attention, that he sees he caught your eye.

Ultimately, if you're his type, he will notice.

"Excuse me, but do you have the time?"

"I've noticed you always smell good. What cologne do you wear?"

"I think you are cute/hot/sweet/interesting. Would you like to go out sometime to get to know each other better?"

I don't think there is anything wrong with being more direct than before. But I also appreciate the more subtle ways of giving him the opening. The thing is, if they don't take the chance, you don't know if it's because they aren't interested, or because they were too shy or didn't even realize what you were trying to do. So give him an opening. If he takes it, great. If he doesn't, try once more in a more direct way. That should provide an answer one way or another.

ETA: Men also love compliments! It's true. So give some out to see if he is receptive to further attention from you. ;)

I think wearing things that make you feel good is super attractive to men and to women for that matter.

My car is gone so I had to walk across the street to the grocery store. It was hot yesterday and I was going through my closets so I grabbed this long pink handerchief skirt- it's gorgeous but I just don't ever wear it.

So here's me walking down the street in a tank top and a shrug, no makeup with this amazing floaty skirt swinging around my ankles. I can't even tell you how many heads turned to watch that skirt sashay by. It was remarkable. I gotta dig that thing out more often :)

Oh, this is wierd but it works. Sitting down. I think it lessens the intimidation factor for men. Sit down, with good posture and an open presence. They will fill that space you create.

Heels is a really cheap trick that works. I think looking pretty in general. Or at least looking like you made an effort.

I think there's better ways than acting helpless though. An acquaintance who is not pretty but gets a lot of attention from men acts completely retarded every time a man is around. It grosses me out. I'm pretty aloof and or bored looking most of the time and I've found that I get enough attention. I can't seem to keep their attention but that's another story.

1. Everyone should use a hankie. This comes from my friend's and my own experience of sinus tragedy. Hankies will save you. So soft and cooshy and they almost make having a sinus infection not too bad.

2. I think the point of lighting the cigarette / dropping your hankie, it's less about the "attention" and more about giving him an opening (you've probably already got his attention). There's so much pressure on a man to be the initiator. Especially now when they're worried about breaching the ever changing rules of feminism. Forcing a social interaction gives him an easier way to stay those first words, which are very terrifying to say. It's a social grace administered onto him, a mercy.

3. Also, I think it's related to the Ben Franklin Effect: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Franklin_effect which is terribly useful for manipulating people.

"There are two things that are infinite: femininity and means to take advantage of it".
