12th house Saturn too. I haven't had father issues as such. Basicly, I've always been daddy's girl. We both have a Scorpio stellium in the early degrees of the sign, and have always had a deep, instinctive understanding of each other's mood. If anything, it has been hard for me to learn that most men, even those who like or even love me, just aren't as instinctive my father is. For instance, learning to tell how I feel instead of just leaving little hints that my father knew how to interpret has been hard.

But my 12th house Saturn is also inconjunct my 5th house Sun, and that's very telling of the situation I crew up in. My mother died when both my father and I were very young. He was left to deal with his own and my pain, but fortunately many people - especially my paternal grandparents, who we lived with - helped out.

God is just a metaphor.

"What do they see and feel that I don't?"

They see and feel empowerment to use the metaphor for their own purposes, to describe their own experience without worrying about universal truth. Give it a try, just take all the things you think you know about "the universe" and instead say its about "God" and see if it changes your understanding of your friends rhetoric.

"I don't believe (yet?) that human beings have the power/knowledge/right to label that being"

Have you tried Jewish mysticism?

I am concerned this is a going to be a ramble, but that's what you expect w/ a Saturn (fear/boundaries) 12th house (boundaryless) post. I think of faith as more of a 9th house/Jupiterian domain, hence the cheerfulness of those who have a belief system that posits a "happy ending" after toil/tribulation. My Sag moon/Asc fully indulges this mode.

The 12th house is more about surrender to me. It's beyond ideas, because those are ego-based. It's more about surrender to the oblivion of Source, All That Is, the Universe whatever you want to call it. Not necessarily happy because there is no "you" to be happy, you've transcended ego identification. If there is feeling, I think it's yearning for return.

It's why I feel foolish trying to write about the 12th, words are inadequate. Saturn fingers drag through the 12th house searching and start to dissovle. It's like the Zen guys saying they can't explain enlightenment, all they can do is point a finger at the moon (enlightenment)...the student has surrender to experience it for themselves. With a 12th house Neptune aspecting almost all my Capricorn planets, my life has been one big Saturn 12th house experience.

edit: after re-reading haha. Fog Machine in the 3rd house...indeed

I was going to post on this, but I thought I'd just reply.

((shell)) With Saturn in the 12th, it probably is very important for you (and me, I have it too) to get a hold of some kind of faith. However, like Nutsy said, remember people may be showing one face and have a completely different reality behind it. Some faiths may be shallow, based on not questioning and will crumble with the first light tap. Possibly one thing that helps these religious people be happy is a built-in support group. I'm not sure, but it's likely they can go to meetings of like-minded people. (Not sure how this applies to the 12th house, but it applies to being happy so I thought I'd mention.)

As for my own Saturn in the 12th, I have Moon-Neptune. No crisis of belief here. In fact I'm almost too trusting. I do have a problem with the voices in my head though. Not literal voices, but the refrigerated leftovers of authorities past. I have a conservative talk-show host in my head, heh. Religious, too (though religion is usually covered more by the 9th house than the 12th)

Christianity (the tradition I was raised in) talks a lot about self-sacrifice. And the 12th house is all about that. The trouble is I've seen so many people who have made sacrifices that seem kind of useless. They give of themselves so their preacher can have a new car. They give handouts to people who will use it all for alcohol. They drop out of school and forgo birth control because God wants them to be subservient to their husbands.

And I hear this song too. 'Give of yourself' (or more frequently 'escape the world.') The question is who do you serve and how do you serve so what you're doing is a force for good, not ill? That's a good question.

In society, there doesn't seem to be much place for 12th house activity. It's regarded (rightly?) as a waste. Having Saturn (and friends) there seems like it's going to be a challenge, at least.

Um, I talk about myself too much, but maybe this is a helpful addition to the topic?

Fiery Cancer- the foot problem thing might be more likely in Saturn in Pisces. I do have some foot problems (that don't hurt me, luckily.)

Oh, agh- my Saturn Return is this year. I'm not sure that the 12th house return will be worse than any other position- I'll have to find out for myself.

Interesting, moonmave. I have Venus conjunct Saturn. I'm a boy and dad wasn't around so couldn't exactly be a daddy's girl, lol. When I go on dates it's usually w/ older rather than younger partners, however.

A few other things:

Any feet problems for people with a lot in the 12th (including, but not limited to Saturn)? Mine are kinda jacked. I used to be a dancer and have bunions, callouses, hammer toe -- all very sexy, lol!

How was Saturn Return for the 12th house Saturn natives? I'm 31, Saturn return was obviously in 12th, now it's in the 1st. Oy ve!! None of those are known to be cake walks and I'm wondering if Saturn returning in the 12th packs a double whammy. I got cancer shortly after my 28th birthday! (Fine now) Saturn's return and transits can be hard on everyone, but I'm wondering if some are considered more disruptive than others.

this is a great discussion. Another Daddy problem chart indicator can be a Venus-Saturn aspect. In childhood, it can often be "daddy's little girl," but it's harder growing up and can lead to estrangement, then to relationships with men who are older. I have it, and it surely describes me.

Another tough placement that is similar to Saturn in the 12th is a Saturn-Neptune aspect, especially in the 10th, 4th, and 1st. It shows up a lot in children of alcoholics.
