I've been summoned twice but for some reason or another never responded....

I'd like to serve, one day, though. I think I can be very impartial.

I've been on a few juries, the very first one i was the foreman.

then i got turned down for one when i let them know I WANTED to be on a jury!

Jupiter in the 12th.

It's really hard when you know that someone is guilty, but you can't prove it and you have to let them go. Fortunately I never had a really nasty trial.

denamaria, I am totally impressed. I think most people would cave just to get it over with. Maybe that's not true, I hope it's not true. You rock!

Yes, 3 times and I was surprised I was picked each time...Jup. in the 5th. They knew I worked for the system, they knew my husband was an engineer (forensic), they understood my beliefs and still I was picked. 1st. case was a traffic accident - guilty, 2nd. was a civil case involving a real estate deal gone bad....but I and a couple of others did not think the defendant was guilty, so case settled after 6 weeks of trial! And 3rd time - older woman was going around impersonating an income tax accountant...I thought she sounded just like my grandmother did at the beginning stages of dementia and I kept the jury in until the foreman was convinced to ask the judge if he would amend the choices of sentencing. The judge did and we got a mental evaluation for her. The judge actually reprimanded her attorney for not having her evaluated before standing trial...he thought the same thing.....it truly is a priviledge.

I view this position in the same way as the person who sits at the emergency aircraft exit seats....they better be willing and able and capable of doing the job, if not....don't do it....

I just served last week. The defendant wasn't present, but his picture was. He was accused of stealing a car (the ignition thingy was all messed up, along with wires hanging out of that area and broken plastic).

He had an empty holster on him and when the cop asked, "Where's the gun"? he nodded with his head to look in back of him (Was this scene on the latest "Stupid Criminals" episode?) Then, he said to the cop, "I know I shouldn't have that gun, being a felon and all." Oops, again.

I'm glad it wasn't an ambivalent case--it was still hard convicting someone to probably a good deal of prison time.

My solar return chart had the Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron trio in it in the 9th and transiting Jupiter had just retrograded in my 12th, opposing Pluto.

Yes, I got selected. Jupiter in the 5th, aspecting Moon and Venus. We came back with a guilty verdict. I liked serving, I thought it was fascinating, although afterward I felt somewhat strange about having had the power to determine someone's future in a way. He did commit the crime, and a court case was inevitable, but we played a part in his sentencing.

I've never served on a jury. I was once called to serve, over 30 years ago, but I was relieved because I'd moved out of the jurisdiction. Jupiter conjunct ascendant in first house in Taurus.

My husband served one time on a murder trial. He has Jupiter conjunct descendant in the 7th house in Aries. The jury decided not guilty because of self defense.

My brother served on a federal grand jury for several years. Jupiter in Gemini. The case kept getting bigger and bigger.

Jupiter in 8th. For about three years I kept getting called and then coming closer and closer to having to do it (went from the night-before call cancellation to having to go there in person for a last-minute cancellation), and finally on the third year I knew it was "my year." Sure 'nuff, right in the jury box on the first go. I thought I might be able to get out of it because i have a cousin who's a cop, but nope. I did about three days or so.

It was a case of some gangbanger (or former gangbanger, hard to tell there) having a gun hidden in his car and whether or not they could absolutely prove he put it there, since it was a car he bought off some old man first. Sadly, they could not with 100% certainty, so we had to let him go. The prosecutor said they knew that from the getgo after the trial was over. I got a certificate of appreciation for going after the fact, which I think is hilarious and I hung it on my cube wall.

Haven't been called again since.

Eh, it wasn't too bad, other than (a) getting there via 2 busses with creepy people and having to leave really early in the morning, (b) metal detectors, and (c) having to sit still for hours. At least they let me take notes, but I wished I could have knitted or something.
