I have my moon in the 2nd as well and I agree with you, dina2, it doesn't describe me. It might have done if I'd been raised differently.

It doesn't help me, though. I've got Pisces on the 2nd house and I have no idea how to manage money.

I also have moon in 2nd and the description doesn't fit me at all. Thanks to Neptune being there

Yes, I have Moon in the Second too and man, money's no substitute for love - no way. In fact, I think money contaminates relationships of any kind. I'm careful not to let them mix but this could come from my Saturn in the 8th. I'm generally careful about relationships and money for that matter.

Mostly, I find my Moon in the 2nd manifesting in the form of comfort foods which can be of great help during downtimes -- that's the only way it seems to fit the description. Are you on a crusade against traditional astrological intepretaton?? That's the vibe I got all the way from venus in the 12th to here.

I once tried looking for more on Moon in the 2nd but there were never any satisfying intepretation for this position. And my Moon in is Air too, in the second, so nothing truly jibes. But creature comforts do give me a sense of security and make me happy. Fitting no?

dina2, i have much better luck with real live astrologers interpreting my chart (ok, so i've only consulted with one..ha!) than the auto-generated ones. there is no way to compare.

i consider it the same as getting a computer tarot reading vs. getting a reading from a person, which i've done many times. one is just bits and pieces and isolated concepts. the other is a synthesis colored by experiences, perspective and a view of the whole as well as the individual parts. there is interaction between individual components. it is really a gestalt.

each can give you something. but when i look at a computer reading, i look for only the bits that resonate to see if they give me any additional insight or a new idea. if i want a comprehensive, cohesive overview, there is no replacement for the human factor of the reader (as long as they are skilled).

as far as being "out" yeah, i totally am. not that i beat everybody i meet with it over the head, but i don't try to hide it at all, even in my professional life. i have been surprised at the people who also are interested but don't say so for fear of being taken as a loony or something. i've personally gotten to the point i just don't care who thinks i'm crazy, as it's too much work to pretend i'm somebody different.

RE: "you will and you may". Oh sure, I'm the queen of "you may", yes, I know what you mean.

Re: "Every ones interpretations are different." (love the "penny peek wheel in the sky" - such cool imagery!)

True, but then I don't know why anyone would bother to be sooo specific in their description in the first place. This is kind of misleading to beginners, don't you think? And when "nonbelievers" see such statements and don't agree with them, it can really turn them off.

That said... I rarely talk about my astrology interest with "nonbelievers." That is, nobody knows I went and looked up their moon - ha ha.

Are you all very public with the extent of your knowledge? (I know Elsa is, duh... but what about others?)

It doesn't say "you will" it says "you may."

Keep in mind this is just one other person's description of what they saw when they took thier turn at the penny-a-peek wheel in the sky. Every ones interpretations are different. If you disagree, good for you. You have woken up to the beauty of your own subjective experience, but please don't waste your energy getting all wound up about someone else expressing thiers. Its like looking at the Ikea catalog and saying "How could someone say my livingroom should look like this!!!!" Just pick and choose the choicest bits and over time you will synthesize your own personal astrological lexicon. The best are based on experience, not something you got directly from a book.

Astrology is supposed to be about energy, right? Vibrations?

How does vibrations equate to words?

I'll give you a for-instance. My moon is in the second house. This is what the "love interpretation" is, according to astro.com. I'll bold the part that I want to talk about.

Moon in the Second House

Good physical health and financial well-being are necessary to your emotional security, and you are not likely to be happy in a money-starved love affair, no matter how romantic.

You may demand expensive presents or love tokens from a partner to assuage problems between you. Although it is perfectly legitimate to treasure gifts of love for their emotional value, this can be dangerous, because you are dodging problems whose roots lie elsewhere.

Your basic desire for honesty and integrity in a relationship should lead you around this obstacle, for you are guided by a strong set of fundamental values.

The bolded lines above are NOTHING LIKE ME. I mean, this could not be farther from what I'm like. While the part about financial well being (security) is right-on, I'm pretty unmaterialistic and would NEVER ask for lavish gifts from a partner - or even ANY gifts, for that matter! Just treat me nice, laugh with me, respect my individuality, and we're all good.

Have you ever read through your chart and decided that some of it is way off base? I just don't understand how they can be THAT specific in their descriptions.
