Neptune for 2 possible reasons: (1) Like you said, it's watery and (2) Many people aren't sure whether to classify it as a fruit or a vegetable. Maybe that nebulous quality that exists for many about how to categorize it makes it Neptunian.

I'm making a pot roast in the crock pot that a Cancer friend gave me. I'm using a bottle of my boyfriend's home brew in it. I also bought all the crap to make a giant tray of Rice Krispie treats for my friends tomorrow. (Mars is scuttling through my 11th house.)

Sounds like a nice composite for a marriage Neith!

I can tomato sauce and garlic dilly beans every year. I don't do so many pickles or cept those cause they don't seem to get eaten. Also make my own mead and herbal beer and kimchee and kombucha. (I don't make jam or canned fruit because all of the fruit I can get my hands on goes to mead!) I pick lots of wild mushrooms too and freeze or dehydrate them.

I too am super picky about what I eat. mostly homegrown or local or organic whenever possible. And I read lables and so often put stuff back at the store once I read them, even if I know it will taste good, if it has certain ingredients I refuse to buy it.

Got no Cancer or Capricorn in my chart. Mars is in Aquarius natally. I think my food preservation stuff comes from having lots of Aquarius and Virgo in my chart. You might not think Aquarians are of such a homey mothery nature, and thats true in a sense, but I think it makes me want to be independent and self-reliant when it comes to food. (moon in aquarius too)

I can tomato sauce, green beans, peaches, pears, homemade pickles and jams. Love the idea of knowing exactly what is going into my mouth. Nothing in Cancer or Capricorn - Mars in Scorpio and a generally Pluto-ruled chart.

However, I really didn't get serious about preserving fruits & vegetables until I married. In the composite chart, the Sun, Venus & ASC are in Capricorn and the Moon in Cancer. Saturn is in Virgo in the 8th and sextile the Moon.

I took the day off today, to can the giant batch of tomato sauce that was simmering all weekend. While waiting for the jars to finish, I started wondering what planet rules the tomato? I was thinking venus, because they are sweet and used to be called "love apples", but according to "The Rulership Book", by Rex E. Bills tomatoes are jointly ruled by Jupiter, Neptune and Mars. OK, Mars I get (red - duh!), and Jupiter too (abundant) but why Neptune? Watery?

http://www.amazon.com/Rulership-Book-Rex-E-Bills/dp/086690431X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1252344172&sr=8-1

So then I looked up canning - and this time my initial guess was spot on: Pluto, and Cancer. Now Pluto is in capricorn now, but since it is on the same axis, I'm thinking that canning and food preserving for both health and money savings is a good idea. I always do it anyway, because I LOVE homemade tomato sauce (yeah I'm part Sicilian) and don't at all like the store bought stuff. It just doesn't taste the same.

right now Mars is in Cancer, so I kinda think tomato canning is the thing to do!

Anybody else canning tomatoes? Or doing something else that fits Mars in Cancer?
