2nd Saturn Return - over 50's come on out!
posted 6 months ago in Ask For Astrology-Based Advice
My mother's second Saturn Return was a lot easier than her first. During her first Return she was poor and praying to God she would get out of Vietnam during the Vietnam war.
During her second Return, all she had to deal with was a lot of stress from paperwork at work and a my sister in law, who she didn't trust!
The first one, for her, was harder. I think the first Saturn return/transit or Pluto return/transit is the hardest. The second time around you learn and even though it's hard, it sure is a lot easier than the first!
My second Saturn return was smooth sailing compared to the first. Walking through some of the same issues but with a sense of resignation that comes with knowing you have to do A, B & C to get to D. Mostly felt weighed down during the peak periods when the transit was exact. I'm not much for worrying over "might have been's" or dwelling on the past.
I'll take a Saturn transit ANY DAY over Uranus or Neptune.
That's reassuring Neith, thank you! Also Toni, good to hear that for your mum it wasn't so bad second time. Think we're sposed to learn a lot first time and do some harvesting of that second time, but all the same, I've been thinking about this one a lot of late, too, mimitabby.
Heading for my second one and as Saturn's in my 8th with Neptune and opposite Moon and Jupiter.. square my ruler Uranus in 5th..that first was eventful, mum diagnosed as terminal. Found it really hard to accept losing her. Also had my ass kicked by a serious astrologer who told me to stop dabbling and study properly..her Mars was bang on that Saturn of mine.. so I did and qualified eventually, studies interrupted a bit by the need to be around mum, but I got there.
Think it's really worth noting whose planets connect with your Saturn, especially through these times..there'll be something to learn.
Are you wary of your 2nd return then mimitabby?
I found my second Saturn Return very freeing. It was also about that time I met the man I'm currently with, so there are good thoughts related to falling in love that may have blurred the transit, but it really wasn't so bad. I was told if you dealt with the first one well, the second was better.
At that time Saturn was:
Conjunct my Venus and Pluto (and Saturn, of course)
Square my Sun, Mercury, North Node and Ascendant
Opposing my Moon
Trine my Neptune
I was prepared for the worst.
wow, Kiriecat, that's great congrats on the new guy!
Neith,I tend to worry, odd for a triple
, I know.
Saturn
is in my 6th house, which for some reason is huge, starting in
and ending in
, with Venus
, Neptune
and and Mars
.
So during my first Saturn return, I had health problems, work problems, and lost two of my pet cats, and a whole flock of chickens. It was awful. I came out of that saturn return married, with two kids. :-) (and more cats)
I don't know if i handled it well at all, it was kind of like having waterballoons tossed at you from all directions; you can only duck a few!
So, yeah, I'm a little worried, yes, Lindiloo. And being married to a guy close to my age, HIS Saturn return is nearly upon us. Ah, it's in his 8th house. hmmm. (that's good news to me, it's NOT work related.
) (I'd like to retire soon.
)
Thanks for your stories, I'd love to hear more, keep them coming!
sounds like your husband could well be retiring and having his pension then mimitabby? Also think as it's Saturn in Libra that relationships go through transformations and as Saturn is exalted there..strengthened. My relationship with my husband was incredibly strengthened by the immense love and support he gave both me and my mum back then, and I made friendships at that point who are, 29 years later..still rock solid. sending you the very best of good health wishes. Saturn's second turn through my sixth closed the door on one very demanding work commitment.. sounds like you two could be making big plans.
yikes, Lindaloo,
I hope you are not suggesting that from the description of my husband's saturn return that HE is going to retire. He plans to work until he is 62 (4 more years) tell me that it isn't so!
We do have a great marriage, I am so thankful to have him. ![]()
two triple sagittariuses. Imagine! ![]()
owww..Mimitabby, sorry, I read that as you wanted to retire as in together.. thinking of the joint financial stuff in his chart that could correspond with decisions like that..and of course if you retire, then income via partner in his chart could well be something that's in focus..either way, you sound like one happy Sagi with a great mate and that is priceless. Sharing funtimes is something Sagis are usually pretty good at. I say that as one with two Sag Sun sisters, Sag rising father, also elder sister..Sag rising son, Sag daughter, oh and every one of us four girls married a Sag guy..altho mine was first marriage teen one and short lived, but you get the message... I am surrounded by you lot and I love the adventure,
and I do mean ADVENTURE.. the stories, the stories..fantastic!
well, you've got that right. Never a dull moment. Thanks. (our poor watersign sons) (snork)
Survived 1st Saturn Return but the marriage didn't. Almost finished with the second return, but at that last eclipse in
/
right on my
, guess what happened again. I'm
Rising, so I also have had
in 1st house conj. my Mars 0
. Like someone else mentioned, Saturn does have a grounding effect.
I find alot of exercise has been key to staying out of jail.
Take one day at a time and meditation helps. Learned more this time I think, the quicker I accepted the changes I needed to make, the easier it was. Change is necessary, even at this age. I'm much happier. Planning a Saturn Has Left Virgo Party, though!
I definitely should be speaking up here, my Saturn being at 03 Virgo, so I've had my second Saturn return. I don't think I navigated it as well as I could have and am now paying the price but I am in the process of re-grouping. At the moment, I'm so busy doing that re-grouping that it's hard to find time for a long comment, but I'll be back to say more soon, Goddess willing. For those of you who know something of my present story and situation, things are looking up. In mid-September I'll be moving into my own apartment in the Chicago suburbs in an area where I've lived before and have friends and other contacts. I'll be living in old stomping grounds in a new way.
Doreen, I hope you come back you probably have more to teach us (from Experience) than anyone!
I'm in second saturn return right now - I am hoping that it rids me of some weight (so far, so good) and hot flashes. Why not, something GOOD could come out of it!! I was glad to find a discussion on this subject!
It's hard not to be a bit panicky when you think back to 30 years ago and the grief we went through. I'll be the first to admit that I do not keep up with all my exercises like I should; (although I am doing much much more than my 30 year old self would have ever done!).
Also Saturn being the house of service/employment at the very time I am considering retiring from a very very very boring dead end job has the effect of making me stop planning, and continue gritting my teeth while the paychecks continue to roll in.
I like your idea about saturn and weight loss; I hope it works for you that you are able to use Saturn's patience and control to do that.
I gave up on hoping hot flashes would go away!
Hello out there. massage from Sweden:-)
My second Saturn return is right NOW,well very soon anyway, its a bit confusing and I am a 5 Degre Libra, and I can tell you that the last two years has been like a inner hell.
I think maybe one reason is, that I have Saturn/venus/mercury conjunktion in late Virgo at 23-24 degre. Now things are starting to move again, in the right direction I hope, I resently got a mailfriend in my own age, and it seams that we have a kind of deep feeling contact with eath other, but I think I wait a little more, I dont know why, but I think that I Iam already affected by the comming Saturn in Libra, hard to say at this point![]()
My Saturn are in the third house, conjunktion my IC to at 0 degree Libra, Hard stuff![]()
I have a Stellium in late Virgo
third house saturn has to do with teaching, communication, interactions with people, not necessarily your lovelife.
Evening all, hi mimitabby-answering your question, my second Saturn return brought an end to the 2nd marriage. It had not worked for years, so between the eclipses and Saturn, I took the steps I needed to. I almost said something about having Saturn in the 12th- seemed pretty rough for me and Karin said it was rought for her too. Probably all the buried stuff coming out ? Anyone find the 12th house a tough go?
Same experience with kiriecat - met my now ex-hubby on my first saturn return. I have natal saturn tight conjunct venus in cancer.
Thanks "Andy" you are so right in your comment. My first marriage didnt work.I was divorsed then, a lot of things happened those years between 28-30. and here I am again divorsed for the second time three years back, after years of unhappiness and struggle.
Andy, you are saying
*I almost said something about having Saturn in the 12th- seemed pretty rough for me and Karin said it was rought for her too. Probably all the buried stuff coming out ? Anyone find the 12th house a tough go? *
I agree!!, like the first time when Saturn was in my twelfth solarhouse, I was alone and had to face my fears.
On the Subject of 2nd Saturn Return in 6th house.
Wow, I have some startling news. I've been having neck spasms and upper back pain FOR YEARS.
I have gone to the dr
I have gone to the chiropractor
I have done yoga.
I have done exercises.
I have taken a lot of tylenol and advil.
nothing makes it go away. Well, about 2 months ago, I decided my Physical THerapist friend was the way to go.
She gave me these funky little exercises. No, really, funky.
BUT THEY ARE HELPING!! following directions, doing these little neck exercises every two hours, but the neck muscle spasms are lessening.
Ok, Saturn's been in Virgo how long? now it's got to go through Libra too.. but i think we're on the right track.
I will report more later..
Not sure if useful (hopefully it's accurate). Found a nifty Saturn return calculator...

Has anyone broached this conversation? I know the 1st Saturn return was really hard for me and for many others that I know; but has anyone survived their second?Lessons learned?
