Man, what a long ass week.  Moving from one apartment to the other next door is one of the easier moves a person can make, but I can still see why it's one of the most stressful things a person can do. 

I bought this piece of furniture yesterday from IKEA and had a helluva time securing it to a wall.  Old buildings and their moldings, sheesh...

To give you an idea, it's 6' by 6' and I'm using it to divvy a room up.  I need my woman-cave.  :)

rantares, when you had to design buildings, did you have to account for the way sound would travel as well?

I saw something on TV about that last night.

It's 15" deep, which is great caz it can be used to display books on both sides in the same square.  It can also be used for knick-knack display.  

I'll probably use the bottom 10 squares for books, since they're so heavy and this is not the sturdiest furniture.

I've got long, hanging vine plants to run across the top and drape down one side.  :)

i did design one building for sound.  it was an musical archive in Venice, with "studiolos" and a performance space.....  acoustics are intense

OMG Caroline - YES, it was...the last damn screw wouldn't go in properly...and then it took a bunch of us to pick it up and prop it...and screw it into the wall with L hooks and wood beams to reinforce...

we would always have to consider the way noise travels..  especially in urban areas, and depending on what the building was to be used for.  sound proofing and insulation are very important....

not everyone wants to eves drop on the neighbors getting it on every night

LOL - I used to get annoyed when folks called me Jenny, but that was caz I knew the most ANNOYING girl in elementary school who went by that nickname. 

After I learned Spanish, I met lots of folks who'd call me Jenny caz it's a diminutive term of endearment so now I don't care.  You can call me Jenny.  :)

Does anyone call you Caro?  Do you mind?  It's from this romance novel I read as a teen, where this girl pretends she's a boy to go to the California Gold Rush and find her brothers.

Re sound, the apartment faces the street.  Eye mask and ear plugs are mandatory for me.  But I knew this before moving.  :)

yeah J, i actually have several of them..

BFA in Arch, BArch in landscape and i'm a certified draftsman ..... it spent 25 years working towards being and architect, and then decided i only liked it for myself..

so i keep it in the background for fun..  dabble in historic preservation and interior design, some landscape work.  but really my job is like a culmination of the whole lot..  i design interior displays for plants and cut flowers..  like indoor landscaping
