I think that a pat down is much less intrusive.  I'd go for the pat down, hands down.

Have to say the pat-down - not sure why, but the body-scan seems more intrusive (and weird).  Earth planets - Mars in Taurus, Saturn in Capricorn, Pluto in Virgo.

Oh DEFINITELY pat down.  I had one recently and it was not so bad.

And yes, Earth, Venus in Virgo.  That scan horrifies me.

Taurus rising, Uranus and Pluto conjunct in Virgo.  Definitely the pat-down, no question.  I was given a thorough pat-down leaving Amsterdam last year and didn't mind at all.  (Taking my clothes off would have been another story -- but of course that's another version of visual search.)  I say I didn't mind, except in retrospect when I realized that I'd been pegged as looking likely to try to secretly export a certain plant-based commodity that is legal there -- although I was travelling with my child and retired parents.  Ha!

I don't mind being seen but is that scanner thing really safe?  What sort of weird rays are we exposing ourselves to with that?  I would rather not be touched by strangers.  At least not in that kind of setting.  :)

I wasn't given a choice. I was pulled aside for a body scan at the LA airport. After the scan, the security asked me what was in my back pocket. It was my license. I am not modest, I am vain. My body isn't what it used to be. Feel sorry for the security people. Imagine getting an eyeful of the bodies you would rather not see.

Probably touched. At least they can't outright pat around my genitalia in great detail in front of everyone at security, vs. body scan seeing all the details.

Well, the whole point of the exercise is to detect objects that shouldn't be going onboard and could imperil my life.

The scanner will accomplish this. A pat-down will not.

For my own peace of mind while aboard, I'll opt for the scanner.

In this case, my Air (judgment) overrides my Earth and Water.

Does this scanner see inside body cavities? (I sure hope so.)

Anyways, I choose touched because scanning is soooooo intrusive mentally.

scanned (depending on safety) ... i would guess it would be faster...this suits my pisces (get me outta here)...as well as my smattering of aries (fast) libra and aquarius (airy, non-physical)  saturn in cap is appeased as well if it is practical, efficient

and....my mars in cancer which was about to bite someone's head off who was patting down my son in frankfurt last week & seemed to need to check in between his legs 5 times....i know these people have a job to do but something put me on high alert...i don't like strangers touching my kid, (unless it's a doc.)

x-rays / scans make me feel weird afterward so I'd take the patdown though I wouldn't like it.

The only reason I'd fly nowadays is for a family emergency or reunion.

Gawd... this makes me want to take the train. I guess if I had to choose.... is it a woman or a man doing the patting? lol if it's a woman then I'm ok with that, not thrilled though but it's still so invasive. If it's a man.... can I see the train schedule?

I've decided and would go with the nudity. I would not want hands on me that may belong to a creep. In fact, I can see something like that ruining my whole trip.

Elsa, I was thinking about the body scan thing since yesterday...you should take a picture of your facial expression the second after you've gone through so we can all see exactly what you thought of it.  If the airport you're going to doesn't have 'em yet, then nevermind.  Haha!   

It's weird y'know. I grew up with this as normal - you  couldn't go shopping in the town centre without being frisked (patted down) at the security barriers first, and every shop had a security person with a metal detector on the door. X rayed, hand searched baggage and frisking standard at the airport as well. I don't think twice about it.

Y'know, I can see more and more of that happening in the States in the future, just because we've got so many sick, twisted fucks crawling out of their holes.  I was reading this morning about that "JihadJane" woman back East (Pennsylvania, I think it was)...and it's only the beginning.  In the next decade, I'm sure this country is only going to tighten down on its security measures, so we're going to have to get used to taking more time doing the things we do, just so we can ease our way through the guards and detectors after standing in the 'concentration-camp' queues.

Just for laughs, though, I think it would be hilarious if going to a frisking station to step forward with a banana hanging out of one's pants.  It would give the friskers something to talk about--haha!   

They'd arrest you Nutsy, and give you a working over......they think that kind of joke is designed to create a diversion for something more sinister. Believe me, we were trained not to even smile at them. Nod your head, be polite, do what you're told and you'll be able to get on with your business.

 I'd go with the pat down even though I'm not keen on the idea of being touched by a stranger but I'm opt for it to avoid the dangerous radiation you'd get from the full body scanners.  I've read alarming things about the dangers of it.
