Are You Better Looking Than Your Parents...
posted 7 months ago in Family
I'm average compared to them. Mother was a model and Granny was drop dead gorgeous, she was in her 60s and men in there 40s were still chasing her!
Yep. I've got that Cap ascendant on my side for aging, my parents don't.
Dad is not an attractive person to begin with, and years of substance abuse were already showing when he was my age.
My mom is a heavy smoker and aged prematurely. I find her beautiful, but I've definitely aged better. And she's all Leo so she's got The Hair. Of course, when she was my age it was the 80s and she had giant teased bleached hair and wore painful looking jeans, so that may contribute to my memories of her.
So was my mother egiyablu. Freaking gorgeous.

I have never looked as beautiful as her at any time. This is the real Bridie Conroy. I joined the boards soon after she died and decided to use her name because she was an orphan. Not many people remember her now. I like to see her name in writing.
Nope.
I'm easy on the eyes...But my parents are/were/are jaw dropper, stunningly good looking people. Especially my Mom.
ETA: Wow, Bridie. She is beautiful. Thank you for sharing her pic.
I look younger and fresher than they did at my age, I think due to lifestyle, and Gem asc. My mom was/is a very handsome woman (that sounds funny but it seems correct to describe her) I'm mixed so I don't look like either one of my parents.
eta Bridie, your mom is beautiful
(((Bridie))) I don't know why, but your comment made me indescribably sad. I'm sorry for your loss.
ON TOPIC:
Honestly? I think I'm better looking than both of my parents. :)
My dad is a handsome man and my mom is pretty alright -- though I've never considered her as pretty as she considers herself. Mom was a show-stopper in her teens, but years of smoking, tanning, and alcoholism took their toll and I don't think she's aged very well.
The big question for me is, have I aged as well as my dad's sisters? They're my role model when it comes to "how to look at X age," since my aunt who is within a year of mom's age looks 20 years younger than mom does. And, yes, I have. ;)
I'm not sure about better looking. I'm healtier for sure than either of them at my current age. Mom's weight was out of control for one thing. Dad was coughing his head off from the cigarettes.
Bridie Conroy was beautiful!! Thanks for sharing your mom.
I'm prettier than my mom by far, but my father was a good looking man. I dunno, he was a really good dancer and moved beautifully. I have his body type, and we are in some ways alike. Both leo mars/neptune types
I remember being a child and thinking my mother was beautiful. I guess I feel greatful to look good at all.
I wish I knew! I look better than most people my own age, and people looked older much younger when my adopted parents were my age, in the late 70s approx. So the answer is probably, yes lol
That's a lovely photo Bridie - was your mother Irish? She looks Hibernian, and it's a very Irish name
No, my mom was very, very good looking. When she had long blonde hair and a waifish figure, she was stunning.
I'm short and stout and I'm built like a brick shit house. I have a very dark complexion and other than my huge brown eyes, forget it. :P
I think my parents probably look better but it's a tough call since I don't hardly look like them at all. I'm blonde curley haired, with blue eyes, and both my parents are dark haired and dark eyes. I think it's a matter of I happen to like their looks more than I like my looks. ;)
Thanks so much for your kind words SaDiablo, Sue Ellen, Blessed Place and AD.
Yes, Blessed Place, my mother was Irish. She had very pale skin and very dark hair. I've always thought that particular Irish look was influenced by people travelling up through the trade routes from Iberia, something that's been happening since time immemorial.
beautiful picture, bridie. beautiful woman.
as for me.... hmmm... i can only answer this question by bringing up a conversation between my sister and i. my sister is all angles. i am all (what some have called) french plum-faced. the angles come from my mother's side (which i have on my hips, back and shoulder blades) while the plum face is from my father's side.
i've seen pictures of my mother and father and i think they are beautiful and handsome.
but i have aged well. which is from my mother's side. i look in the mirror and i still see a 30-year old. i thing others see 35 maybe. and i'm 44. i don't know... something is keeping me going and getting looks of utter shock when i say i have 23 and 20 year olds.
but beauty? i'd have to say that is subjective and i cannot answer.
I'm sure that's the case Bridie - people don't generally know what a huge Celtic culture flourished in Iberia (Spain) in prehistoric times (in central and western France too though that's better known via Carnac etc) . I've no doubts that people from down there brought their megalithic / astonomcal skills to the West of the British Isles where it is still so visible. I'd love to see the megaliths on Malta and Menorca one day... I have (or had!) that colouring too btw: dark hair, green eyes, white skin
Yes, I think I'm better looking and in far better shape than either of my parents when they were in their mid 40's. Almost everyone assumes I'm in my mid 30's, when in fact I'm 10 years older than that.
My parents were handsome people, not gorgeous but attractive. My mother didn't age well primarily due to her smoking and not taking care of herself. My dad has remained in largely good health but became a bit geeky looking as he aged.
they were just about my age when i was i born...

i think i'm cuter
I would have to say yes. My mother let herself go for a number of years and never took very good care of her skin. I feel sad about it. I wish she took better care of herself.
A bit OT but I saw Florence Henderson on a news show the other day and omg she looks FANTASTIC! She's 76 now and her skin is so so great.
Yes - great pics. It's so touching to see echoes of similarities across the generations. I can so see Caroline's resemblance to her dad - such sensitivity across the eyes. And Rantares not only do you look like your dad, in your current avatar you've even got your head angled almost exactly the same way too.
Caroline, so do my brother and sister.. and the whole rest of that side of the family, going back as many generations as we have photos.
