How about looking into the superficial side of astrology for a bit? :D
I've always been interested in astrological girliness, so to speak, as in, what certain signs and aspects are drawn to as far as beauty products, clothes, etc.
For example, as a Taurus I have a pretty sick arsenal of perfume, lotions, body sprays and good smelling stuff. I can't get enough! My makeup collection is pretty offensive too. :P
I've also noticed a lot of Scorp women seem to really be into shiny, sparkly jewelry~!
What about you? What's your "thing" and what do you think the astrology is behind that?
I think my venus square saturn (and venus in the 12th) influences my un-girliness very much. I'm often told how feminine I am but am not into wearing make-up, high heels, jewelry...
I do love perfume though. But I don't need variety. Just one and I'll use it up.
Just ideas:)
My scorpio friends are not into too much ''shiny'' ! They are more natural beautiful, not much make up and usually with dark colours!
Libra friends are more into dressed up, make up , colourfull clothes. Follow the fashion
Virgo are always tidy hair and good taste:)
Pisces with windy , light clothes, untidy hair
Sagittarius : You are not sure what to find everytime you see them! Weird things:)
Aquarius: Dressed up, make up ,hair ...Always in fashion :)
Capricorn: Like Pisces, they dont follow the fashion blindly :) They choose the perfect clothes for them! And always suit them!
Aries: More relaxed with clothes! They dont get upset if they dont have the newest fashion t-shirt
:)
My mom is an Aries and she basically just throws whatever she can find on!
& I've noticed Libra girls seem to follow fashion pretty closely, but not the guys. I wonder why that is!
Cancer and Capricorn prefer the traditional clothes!
My Capricorn -Aquarius aunt always combine the old with the new! Its cool and cultural style :))
Sagittarius : You are not sure what to find everytime you see them! Weird things:)
so true - that's me! Ethnic clothes too..love stuff from india
Taurus/planets in second house LOVES nice to touch fabric.
Capricorn/10th house gals wear classics of good quality that will last a long time.
Scorpio usually does like dark colors especially burgundy but I do know one who loves sparkly - she has sag rising and other stuff in sag so maybe that is a factor.
Leo - gold things, and of course, the hair!
Libra sun, rising or venus usually makes for a girl who likes stylish clothes, lingerie and shoes.
I am

- the Scorpio in me has a closet full of black / navy / maroon clothes. The Aries in me doesn't give a rat's butt about what is fashionable about any of it but seeks comfort. I am right on the Sag cusp so I am busy throwing something black, comfortable & quick get out the door on. On a normal day if it's fashionable - okay. If it's not - who cares. I hate shopping.
If it's a dress up occasion I will be stunning in black pants/black t-shirt and a dynamic stand-out jacket. Or black skirt, black shell & another dazzling/colorful/bright jacket.
If it's a funeral I'll be all in black, unless it's a man's funeral who I particularly liked. To theirs I wear black but toss on a bright red jacket, because men like me in red! Every good man deserves a woman in red at his funeral! (Elsa - is this Pluto willing to be the shadow???)
Shiny? Uhh, I have some nice jewelry, but it's not TOO ostentacious.
Have a couple of favorite perfumes. Forget to use it lots of times.
My makeup bag has - 1 mascara, 1 eyelash curler, 1 eyeliner, 1 blush, 1 lipstick - no foundation - all bought at the drugstore. I can be out the door in 5 minutes.
Lotions? I get tons for gifts. I re-gift 99% of them. I still use Cherry Jergens just like Grandma used to use!
Taurus i think they love to go shopping too TOO much :) They are always in fashion because of that:)
If its not clothes... then its supermarket:))) They love t have a chance to choose which chocolate to get :) And yes its true about perfumes-smells..
xxxx dont get me wrong:) i love taurus:)
Capricorn with Sag moon/Asc here. I don't try too much these days. But when I was younger and going out a lot I wore vintage/goofy...hats with cherries, gloves, black pencil skirt.
Pisces sun, mars (aries) and Venus (pisces) conjunct. Leo moon.
I hate shopping for clothes. I hate fashion. I have ONE pair of shoes and they're hikers. I don't wear make-up unless the occasion calls for it (dressing up) and I have very little clothes in my closet. I don't wear jewlery. I shower at night so I can sleep in until the last possible moment in the morning - brush my teeth, hair, and go.
I do have Leo hair, though, and I try to keep up on it. It's long, thick and incredibly curly. Prone to frizz, it's my one consession to vanity, if you can even call it that. I don't spend tons of time on it, nor do I go out of my way to fix it, but if I'm feeling "blah" about how it looks I'll straighten it. It's even more glorious and Leo-like when it's straight and full and thick.
Except...it's VERY rare that I'll wear it in anything other than a pony-tail, even straight. Too much crap in my face to bother.
ah yes, Luci, the shoes!
This Scorp has a lot of shoes - sexy ones.
Purses - I've got some 9 or 10 or so, and I might change them or not to coordinate with the outfit - definitely on a dressy occasion, maybe on an ordinary day.
I will not pay the god-awful prices for purses that people want today! Geemanzee, let me take out a second mortgage so I can buy A purse? YGTBKidding!!! No. Won't happen.
"Taurus i think they love to go shopping too TOO much :) They are always in fashion because of that:)

It's true we love to spend money! I read all over the place that Taurus are supposed to be good with money, and I'm always thinking "Um, yeah.. good at SPENDING it!
As far as what's fashionable, that doesn't really concern me - I like things that are really timeless but they have to be good fabric & good quality or I won't bother. Good food as well like you said. I do look for deals on certain things but will always spend a couple extra dollars for "the good stuff" if I can. :P
Luci, if there's one thing I can't get enough of, it's Leo hair. I can always tell a leo by their hair. I absolutely adore huge, ridiculously curly hair!
It's interesting to hear what everyone is saying about Scorpios. The ones I know are into darker clothes as well. They must both have some sag to explain the sparkly, then. :) Most of my clothes are black as well / scorpio rising.
OMG A THREAD THAT FINALLY TOTALLY SPEAKS TO ME! Hahah!
I'm an Aries Sun/Asc with a Cancer moon and although I'm an avid Fashion Geek (is there such a thing?) I still gravitate to clothes that I can move freely in. Think: if I can't run in it, I AIN'T WEARING IT!
Oh and this doesn't mean I'm stuck in sweats and gym clothes all the time ;) I would say my clothing style combines a lot of rough elements (denim, leather, rough knits) with delicate elements (silk, certain jersey fabric, etc). I wear a lot of boots over skinny jeans in the winter due to its practicality and that "badass look" (also because I have long legs). My tops and dresses usually have a very nice drape to them (because I ahve a short torso and a thick waist). I also show a lot of leg so shorts, slim-fitting capris and pants are a staple in my wardrobe. I also blend these tough elements with a lot of lace (I have a growing lace camisole collection) and a lot of florals, which is a total contrast to the tough Aries-like elements. I am barely seen in heels OR in sneakers. I buy comfort shoes, but they have to look AND feel good, or else I won't wear them :) I also wear my hair VERY short (pixie cut), though in the past I've always had it long and wild - in a stick straight hair kinda way :P
.... and just as Kylie mentioned, being the Aries I am, I just pull whatever I have in my closet on without much thought... but there's a method to this madness! I have a 6th house Saturn in Virgo so I am an organization freak in my closet. All my clothes suit my body and I have a set colour palette where I can easily mix and match my clothes. I have my closet mastered down to a T ;)
I also noticed the differences between the signs, although for some reason I think this is more a Moon sign thing or an Ascendant. An Aquarius friend of mine has crazy curly hair and she always wears it that way. She has a Leo Moon thought her style is somewhat a t-shirt and jeans kind of bohemian look (Probably the Aquarian side). I have another friend with a Virgo Asc/Leo Sun who is all about her hair and will wear anything shiny. She almost exclusively shops at Bebe or Guess/Marciano. My SO is a Taurus Asc/Scorpio Sun/Leo Moon and he wears only red, black and white. He likes to wear a shirt and tie with jeans and sneakers for special occasions.
I can go on and on about this.. WOW!
Oh and you're so right about Taurus. Well... I have a Venus in Taurus. I AM a reformed shoppaholic. Now I'm working on diverting my energy to satisfy my 5th house Leo Mars. So I'll work on creating instead and use my almost-finished-but-quit fashion degree to good use ;)
Lunalie said about Taurus Asc/Scorpio Sun/Leo Moon SO:
"He likes to wear a shirt and tie with jeans and sneakers for special occasions."
I was the one who always wore my converse sneakers with dresses, long before this was a fashion 'or lack thereof' statement. I honestly don't know fashion.
WOW Lunalie!
As I was reading your post I was thinking "She must have some Virgo somewhere" since you seem to pay such close attention to detail ~ Sure enough!
Dreams:
LOL... Just because you wear your sneakers with your dress, it doesn't mean you're out of fashion! It really works for some, but I don't think I'd pull it off. Combat boots with a cocktail dress, however... I've done it before ;)
Kylie:
Yup... Venus (Taurus)/Saturn (Virgo) trine with a Jupiter Virgo in 5th house as well ;) The funny thing is, I am only really really specific and detail-oriented in fashion/beauty but never everywhere else -_-
I am VERY concerned about the shininess of my hair. VERY CONCERNED. I had to shave my head for a medical procedure late 2007 and I had a lot of attention for being bald/super pixie haired, but I missed having hair. It's doing good now...natural hair colour which makes me feel like an anomaly but as long as I have shine...
I think natural hair colours will be more populaar with Pluto in Capricorn.
I don't wear make up at work (I have an outside job and sweat a lot).
If I do wear makeup, it is for the purpose of my skin to look vibrant, so blush is my "will die sad and lonely give it to me" cosmetic. I'll take blush over EVERYTHING. As long as I look rosy, I'm happy!
I never wear lipstuff. No lip blam even. I think it is the devil. Lip gloss creeps me out. Sorry, lip gloss fans...I know you are legendary...
I am great at doing dramatic eye makeup. There are amazing tutorials on youtube if you have time to kill...
here's lauren luke. just some gal who started posting on youtube and hit it big! i love self-starters! you go, lauren! if I ever get my ass to a club to go dancing, I'll visit you first!
i am very picky about what i put on my skin. no parabens, no weird stuff. I use olive oil on my body, rosehip oil on my face (pretty much cured my acne). i stopped using fingernail polish because I use my hands a lot and if it chips I feel cheap.
Basically I do not use not do anything unless it's good quality...I'll go without rather than be mutton dressed up as lamb.
Fashion: I advocate for GOOD shoes...ones you can re-sole, so they cost money. I shop almost exclusively at thrift stores. I'm your $300 shoes, $2 dress gal :)

OK so the gemini rising loves sparkly shiny glittery things. I think I pierced my ears more just so I could put shinies in them.
The venus in cancer wants comfortable, classic, easy, but still pretty
the compromise is my wardrobe is mainly mix and match pieces - I can pull nearly any top and any bottom from my closet and the outfit will work - with shiny accessories!
I hate makeup and I never wear anything but maybe a little concealer for the blemishes. I don't like feeling gunk on my face though sadly, I think I would be taken more seriously if I wore a little. Jewelry is not my thing either, at most I wear a simple necklace to enhance my decolletage I had my ears pierced when I was 6 months old but they got infected a lot (Virgo moon and rising ears can only stand 24K gold) so they were allowed to grow in. I tried again when i was 14 but I just hate crap dangling off me. Fashion-wise I am very picky and very simple and very hard to dress. Jeans and a t-shirt always. Excessive pattern looks bad on me but dainty details are always nice. I love heavy boy boots because I'm on my feet constantly and have high arches. Ballet flats are my fave though I pay the price when I wear them. I hate envy those girls who can wear anything and look fabulous. Always had short hair. When i let it grow out it was constantly bothering me, suffocating me and I wore it back in a librarian bun or ponytail. Now it's short and liberating but I forgot how much short hair becomes Frankenhair in the morning. Not very interesting but it's me.
The only time I've really worn much makeup is onstage, though I like beeswax lip balm and some lipstick sometimes. Makeup makes me feel like a drag queen.
I like shoes and I like heavy boots & I've worn a dress with combat boots.
I appreciate perfume, good smelling lotion, bath salts, etc.
If I could wear a uniform every day I would be happy.
I like to try different things with my hair - I've had hair down to my butt, pixie cut, mohawk. I have really thick hair that grows fast, so a couple times I've grown it long so I can get it cut off & donate it to Locks of Love, which I'm doing now - it's almost long enough to cut off & send them. :)
Venus in Virgo in the 9th.
Ooh, yes. If I could wear a COMFORTABLE uniform every day, I'd be happy.
I used to wear scrubs, and that was awesome. I could buy whimsical prints that match my personality, but it wasn't fashion based and they were stupid easy to keep up.
Kashmiri:
Thanks for posting about Lauren Luke :) And as for skincare, I am with you. I highly recommend the brand, Korres from Sephora. :)
I've begun making clothes again, a month after getting laid off ;) I'm a bit rusty but I'm so dissatisfied with the clothes out on retail.
I agree with shoes. TOTALLY agree with shoes. I invest a lot in shoes mainly because I care a lot about comfort. I live in a huge Canadian city where almost everyone walks everywhere so comfy shoes are a must. I never understood women who wore heels everywhere all the time.
As for makeup... well... I am a budding makeup artist, so I can't say no to that! Although contrary to what most makeup artists do, I actually put on very natural makeup. I think that's my secret skill as a makeup artist - allowing natural beauty to shine through :)
Finally, a question I've been thinking of asking for a long time!
I do find that Capricorn goes for the classics, and is very savvy when it comes to clothing, clothing that is good quality, will last a long time, how to match pieces, etc. My Capricorn friend wears a lot of black, plum, burgundy.
Like Elsa's sister, I notice that Pisces has a good sense of fashion, for what's appropriate and what isn't.
I'm a Gemini and have an animal sense of when something has stopped being trendy, I stop wanting it. Haha.
The way I want to look tends to be focused on the pretty and quirky. At least one look I like on myself (Gemini). I was one of those girls that identified a little bit too much with Amelie's slightly androgynous prettiness. A respite from heavy handed ideas of "sexiness." I like military-style jackets with epaulets, shirts with Mandarin collars and cap sleeves, motorcycle jackets with sundresses (a trend I can sense), not that I'll necessarily wear these things. This, unfortunately, is an example of something I'd probably like to where if it were less white:

Uch, I'm embarrassed.
Lunalie, you should start a fashion blog. :)
Ohhh, I saw a neat fashion blog once. The girl took photos of all her outfits, and went thru talking about each one. For instance, she'd take one blouse and make up different outfits with it, showing the jewelry, shoes & purses as she put the outfit together with different pants, shorts, skirts. Quite nice. No, sorry, can't remember where it was as I don't think I tagged it. But, it was a neat idea and one that would make dressing easy - go to the pictures!
Do yourself a favor and if you make a fashion blog figure out some way to monetize it for yourself!
Aquarius here - always in fashion? I don't think so. Our brains are going in 50 different directions at once, you are just lucky we remember to wear clothes. If we are in fashion it's an accident, we are usually ahead of or behind the trends. Often we add a quirky element. Like the other day, I wore a polo and pair of jeans, but my shoes - a pair of argyle patterned canvas tennis shoes.
However that being said, I think our moon influences as well. like Lunalie's Aquarius friend I also have a leo moon and her description is perfect.... jean and t-shirt kind of bohemian look. I don't have wild curly hair, but I have wavy yet super fine hair (and alot of it!) I can't do a thing with, so it's either pulled in a pony tail or I go get a short haircut.
Found it - her name is Gauri - not sure how to get invited...it used to be open????
mmarianna: Pisces with windy, light clothes, untidy hair
Vajra: Taurus/planets in second house LOVES nice to touch fabric
My hair is a mess today (part clipped, part bobbypinned) and I'm wearing a light, short sleeved shawl over a tunic with black stretch pants. That's my Taurus Asc/Pisces Sun just saying hello!
I love soft, flowy fabrics and messy hair. It's the perfect way to say "I didn't really try today, but I still look good doing it". Makeup is required for my Pisces Venus too.
Oh, and shoes...this Pisces needs her feet to breathe, flip flops mostly, ballet flats, nothing painful. Though I will wear heals on special occasions. :)
I love love love fashion, chart ruler venus in gemini, but I do care about quality and I am interested in unusual clothes, venus trine uranus. I am taurus rising and venus conjunct staurn in the 2nd. This means I never have any money to buy clothes and shoes for myself, but happily boys like to buy me presents, I get really happy! I am totally a perfume freak and love love scent. and I am a total skin care snob. Here are some of my favorite places to poke around online:

Ok I'm a freak, but I'm just interested in everything: fashion, music, writing, art, gardening and cooking(cancer sun) I love to know what is going on.
xo
Haha, http://kingdomofstyle.typepad.co.uk/ is my favorite. Queen Michelle rules! Bold Aries style. I also liked une-jeunedemoiselle.blogspot.com a very Neptunian blog by a Pisces, lots of flowers and music. stylerookie by Tavi Williams is very intriguing, she has a very interesting sense of style and she is only 12 years old http://tavi-thenewgirlintown.blogspot.com/ . I like the styles of stitchtowhere on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/stitchtowhere/
Just a thought after reading Elsa's blog post on Criminal Mind Astrology - perhaps there is already one out there but a great niche for someone who loves astrology and fashion would be to have a monetized Fashion Astrology blog/online business presence and do consults like MissSmartyPants does for flylady dot com, dressing people according to their chart.
And, I don't mean generic for sun signs, but taking the entire chart in mind, and actually either going shopping for them in person or online after seeing pics & having measurements & lifestyle info in hand. People would pay. I would pay for some good help!
DreamsAreality oh oh I would LOVE to do this! I dress all my friends, and people ask me for consults all the time. too fun! I would love love love to shop with people professionaly. I have kind of a used clothes store in my spare room, and really I scout for people constantly, I love the idea of getting paid! I live in a small town now instead of NYC, not too many people are interested in fashion here. Wah.
Dina, I reallly love style rookie! Tavi Rules, so brilliant and really kind of awesomely pure.
This is interesting! It must not be Sun sign driven, cuz I'm Pisces and I don't wear anything wispy or floaty! Maybe it's Venus because mine's conjunct Jupiter & MC in Aries and I wear sporty clothes. (not "track suit" sporty but chunky sweaters, faded jeans, well-washed henleys or button down oxfords & running shoes.) I haven't bought something that wasn't from LLBean or LandsEnd in a decade and I've dressed like this my entire life.
I have one sterling silver necklace with pendants of a celtic knot and a Scottish thistle and I wear it always. I plan to add to it pendants for a horse and a labrador retriever, maybe something signifying golf. If the jewelry isn't a symbol of something I love, I'm not interested. I have 2 pairs of tiny silver celtic knot earrings that I wear interchangeably.
I have 2 "t-shirt" dresses that are exactly the same except color and I wear those if a dress is needed. With running shoes if I can get away with it. I do have 2 pairs of black flats for "emergencies"
but I don't have any heels and never have. My only coat is "inherited" from an Aunt.
My clothing loves are great sweaters and cozy socks and I love everything to look faded, well-worn or sun-washed and to be soft.
Dina:
I've been thinking about it for YEARS... YEARS!!! I don't quite know what to blog about yet though. I seem to have a passion for practical style - looking hot yet feeling comfortable.
About astrology/fashion blogging... Gosh... If I honestly knew A LOT more about astrology, I would totally do this. Friends consult with me all the time and then I start asking them for their full birthdays and figure out their styles there... HAHAHAHAH! But I do think it's more than that.. There's a lot to take into account like lifestyle, comfort level, self expression, etc... So yeah... believe me if I knew more astrology, I'd TOTALLY consider it... LOL!
You could start by cataloguing your outfits. Take some good pictures. You could start with a style blog and see where it goes.
I'm just curious to see your outfits. :)
I adore fashion and all the girly stuff! My mom used to sew clothes for me when I was really small.... I remember loving looking through the pattern catalogs as early as 5 years old. I didn't draw horses like some of my friends, it was princesses in fancy dresses. Subscribed to American Girl, then Seventeen... and eventually graduated to Glamour and Vogue, then W.... One thing though, if I don't feel I've got money to spend (like now) looking at the fancy mags is sort of depressing 8-(
I will watch anything on TV involving fashion or beauty!
Venus in Libra!!! But I spend the most money on my hair.... it's fine and straight and it matters who cuts it, and of course who puts the sunny highlights in it. Need you ask? Sun in Leo!
Dina:
Hahah! I believe my outfits run to the "boring" side of fashion since I stick to very classic shapes though I'm known to have at least one bold, shocking colour on me. I guess my clothes could be fashion blog-worthy, but we'll see :) I have to get over camera-shyness :)
My sister just wrote a series on this for the blog - will start posting tomorrow, too tired tonight!
