Astrology of ads.

Night_Owl13, your post reminded me of this one...on the feminine side:
http://www.advertolog.com/paedia/prints/2000/10/05/193915/4df49bbf4bacfa741ed04008b6cc8608e2d4dc9b/
I don't know - the commercials in Europe have been racy for years. I am kind of glad the U.S. is starting to slowly (very slowly) inch away from it's Puritanical roots.
Imagine when Pluto enters Aquarius - woo hoo!
I agree with that Jilly - it seems like women are not really the target audience in these ads. The yogurt ad is just puzzling in that respect.
Personally, I hate that raciness is everywhere. I would like to live in a raciness free zone. We are saturated with sex constantly (and usually at the exploitation of women rather than their empowerment).
For example: there was billboard in part of nyc that people were complaing about: a woman and some guys, a kind of group sex scene. But the woman was active, looked happy, I didn't see it as demeaning. She was not photographed as prey. And people complained. So instead they switched it to a bikini shot, the typical objectification which is dull and challenges nothing or no one.
In the former one, the woman was part of and enjoying her sexuality. In the latter she was just a thing for the viewer to witness/admire/be jealous of. Whatever.
All that aside, I'd still prefer to live in a culture with more emphasis on spirit and less on soulless objectification.
And oh my god, I don't have kids but sometimes I see what my 14 nephew writes on his facebook page
And so it goes......
Bk is taking a beating on this... but it was actually a local ad agency in Singapore who created the ad for that local market, and it wasn't approved by corporate:

I think the ad crossed the line, but I feel bad for BK that they're getting flame broiled for this ad, when it wasn't even seen by their ad agency of record (or by BK corporate).
Elsa, I don't get the point either which is kind of why I posited the question, to try and see if anyone could find one. I am at a loss!
Hq, yeah, BK is getting a beating for it, especially on the Intertrons. It's interesting to me how ads around the world are interpreted in America. Like the yogurt ads from Brazil that went through the American gauntlet which basically say 'don't be fat, eat our yogurt':
http://www.popbytes.com/archive/2007/06/controversial_yogurt_ads_from_brazil.shtml
Americans HATE the ad, but it's pretty standard in Brazil. Like the recent Bacardi ads running in Israel which are REALLY REALLY horrible, by American standards that is.

The Quizno's ad went through the wash as well. I first saw the ad late at night only once. Now there is a "cleaned up" version where the oven says "I'm waiting for it" rather than "put it in me" and without the sexual nuance in the first. We still clean it up, which is very American. But we're shifting in what we allow, which is what interests me. I'm wondering about the astrological shifts that could reflect this.
I'm not a prude in the least, but I'm really sick of sex being used to sell so many things, come to that, is it no longer possible to produce a decent song instead of relying on how little you can wear in your video?? I had MTV on the other day and had to turn it off as I certainly did not want my four year old son to see what a certain singer was doing with her crotch.
No shit, GW...
Hehehe, that brought into my head the way Cheech reacted when he thought Chong was a large-breasted hitchhiker alongside the highway in Up In Smoke: "Oh, what's THAT?"

I saw this promo yesterday:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F85UwQ6j4kQ
and it got me thinking about all the suggestive ads I've seen popping up in the last few months. Most recently, Burger King's blow job ad.
But then I remembered the Quizno's ad for the Toasty Torpedo (which is HILARIOUS):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LQpRQh2KSQ
AND the ad for Dannon's Light & Fit yogurt which is marketed to women primarily but nevertheless seems suggestive to me.

I don't know about you but I don't make that coy face after eating yogurt, especially diet yogurt.
The of course, Biscuit Holes from Hardee's:
http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1543292789?bctid=27550583001It occurred to me that all of these ads would NEVER have been seen 20, 10 or even 5 years ago because they do not even try to hide anything. They're just dick jokes wrapped up in product placement. It's not that that surprises me, it's the balls of it all (pun intended). It used to be a hot woman writing around on a soapy car eating hamburgers, now it's a woman blowing a sandwich and Quizno's oven telling a guy to "put it in me". We're going from suggestive to obvious. At first I figured it must be Pluto in Capricorn (sex for money, commerce, etc.) but I'm wondering if it could be something else in the sky. Anyone have any ideas about this trend or seen any other interesting ads?
Talk about synchronicity, I'm not the only one who noticed:
