Just curious... what do you use to cast charts, check transits, progressions, etc.

An online service like www.astro.com (Astrodienst)?

Or software you bought and run on your own computer?

Does anybody still do charts manually???

Do you consult an ephemeris (paper or online)?

I use astro dot com.  I subscribe to their daily service as well as using the free charts.

There is something called What Watch that you can download and install. It's kind of shareware - make a donation. You can google What Watch to find it if you're interested.

Astro.com (Is there a way to delete data from this site? I have a growing number of saved data for folks that I no longer need)

My brother bought me a book with software years ago that actually started my quest to learn astrology. I dont use the software much anymore because astro.com is more complete.

Ive seen some nice professional software for like $300. and actually I was going to post a question about that. I dont have the bucks for it now, just interested.

Sometimes I like to hand draw a chart because its fun and it helps me get intimate with the chart  But it is a simple chart based on one already calculated by a computer, or based on ephemeris data.  I dont calculate ascendants. I dont calculate house cusps. Thats what computers are for.

I tried using astro.com for generating transits, but I love working with a paper ephemeris. So I use it almost all the time.

    chami:

Go to the My Astro page where all your people are listed.

Next to each person's name, to the right, is a checkbox.

Put a checkmark for those you want to delete.

At the bottom-right of that page is a link called "delete marked data". Click that!

I broke down and bought Win*Star Express from Matrix software a year or so ago after using astro.com for years. It was a good move for me and has paid for itself many times over.

Matrix has Win*Star Express on sale right now for $69.

But unless you are considering doing paid astrology work [or have more disposable income than most of us do these days], astro.com is an excellent option.

I use solar fire, which has great calculative tools, but I don't use the interpretation files, as they're not to my taste. However you can do a free software download of

ps I think it's always good to remember how to calculate and hand draw charts, and even if you don't do that, then check the Sun's placing in the chart for rough accuracy..ie dawn means sun around first house and dusk the seventh, noon on the MC and midnight the IC

Hey, that's a good tip about the sun! Yes, solar fire, that's the one I was looking at.

    Do you like it?
