It's horrible. A friend of the parents has already turned on them, saying they frequently put their kids at risk. :-(

The article has been updated. This person was talking this crap when the boy was missing (and most presumed dead). So your kid dies in a horrible accident and you pal goes on tv to talk about how lousy you are...  ::sighs::

Maybe that "friend" really, truly feels that they endangered their kids, but you go in front of a bunch of overeager news mics and cameras today?  You're a backstabbing media whore.  Today is not the day.  No matter how culpable the parents, they have to have suffered the anguish of all anguish.

My Sag kid disappeared on me to the neighbor's house a couple months ago, and in ten minutes i died about 15 deaths.   I know how you feel when you slaughter yourself for not having watched them for a few seconds. And now all the backlash-parents are coming out with "my children are chained up on a leash at all times!"  Because they are better people, I guess.

Oh, the astrology of this family has to be something fantastic.

And, I watched the press interrogate a little friend of his, who was very articulate, but clearly upset.  And they asked him "what do you think about what happened to your friend?"  The pain on that little boy's face and the look of "are you fucking kidding me, big person?"  Today was the perfect day for the last of Mars in Cancer - I just wanted to protect kids everywhere.

I'm glad nothing big enough ever happened to get my family under the press microscope... they would have had a field day since my family wasn't "normal." (Which I am grateful for...)

well I stole a truck (a big one) and went to the store when I was 10 and I am telling you it was due my nature not my parents. I mean, they didn't want to go anywhere but I did...

Learned about Balloon Boy from Perez Hilton and followed the story on TV up until when the investigator found him in the box in the attic. In the aftermath I did hear a few newscasters voice suspicions that it was a ploy for national attention (why? because they were on Wife Swap?) but dismiss it as if it was too cynical a notion.

I'm glad he was always safe but after everything is said and done, I second this comment from the youtube video: "that kid is epic win. Ratted out his parents on national tv and then lets one rip. Epic."

Well I can share this now that we all know this kid is ok and never was in any danger - my daughter, who is in the autism spectrum, walked into the living-room while the footage of the flying balloon was on.  She pointed to it and said "Look Mommy, it's a Jiffy Pop!"  (Her teacher told me they made Jiffy-Pop in school a couple of weeks ago..........I couldn't laugh about it until I knew there was no little boy in that flying jiffy-pop 

i watched the cnn interview where the kid said "we did this for the show"- listened to the kids and parents answers to questions in that interview - the kids sounded rehearsed- and watched some footage of the wife swap episodes the family was on. dad came off as a lot less warm in those...

i'd lay money the whole thing was a planned publicity stunt.

well if it was all a hoax, it's absolutely infuriating. what an awful thing to do - to your family, friends, rescuers, and the people around the world watching, upset and concerned about this little boy. i sure hope i'm wrong about it.

Whether or not it was a hoax, you have to hand it to this family:  they are shockingly unique and wildly entertaining..   It got me to wondering, do families have charts?  I wonder what theirs is...

I've been watching the fallout from this incident. I think Dad is a publicity junkie, using the family as props and i think the poop is going to hit the fan when they start slamming some major charges on him. The recovery/rescue mission costs 2 million dollars!! Unbelievable amount but hey, jet fighter planes, helicopters and just about every state trooper costs major bucks.

Dad's an idiot and he's leading his whole family down road with him.   Daddy needs to grow up, clean up the house and start acting like a Dad instead of Mad Scientist.
