I've been thinking about this one...  I was looking through some of the past threads, but was unable to locate one regarding this topic.  If anyone can point one out to me, I'd appreciate it.

The Question:  Do you know anyone who is good at actually identifying the outward signs of people on-sight (I guess, predominantly, the Sun & Ascendent aspects)? 

I'm curious to make an experiment of this, starting today and going 'til whenever, because I've been thinking about it for a while.  I think it would be interesting to see if a person can develop some kind of accuracy in guessing a person's sign.

When I worked at Great America in the late 80's I had to sometimes put in hours at the Amazing Alfredo weight-guesser stand--I was actually most accurate on guessing a person's Month Of Birth than I was their actual age or weight...and this has made me more curious.

I answered wrong, I guess. On sight and sight alone? No.

One I talk to someone, even casually, I've got very good accuracy with knowing what someone's sign is.

And people are wrong with mine. They always assume me to be an Aries. I'm guessing that's the Leo moon signature creeping in.

Bah I answered the question in the subject, not the question on the poll.  NO way I can do it because I'm just not visually oriented.  I see people I know and don't always recognize them.  But I do think that it's possible to notice these things.

That's about how I am about it.  I put the 3rd choice "Maybe", because there might be a few that stand out, but I believe you'd have to know the person or at least strike up a conversation to get any clear idea.

It's funny, because I was thinking of this yesterday.  And one part of my brain was telling me, "Well, we can get pictures of everyone that has this same sign and that same sign and stare at them until you figure it out..."  And the other side of my brain was folding its arms and shaking its head saying, "You're a nut.  I don't have time for that shit."

I can usually peg something about someone when I look at their behaviour long enough, so appearance I'd vote no. I worked for a guy who had a very particular fighting style... he loved the back and forth. 4 years in I finally said..."It's GOT to be Mars in Gemini"..and it was!

Kind of reminds me of a thread a while back when we were discussing word useage and what offends people...some of the comments I thought...hmmm Mercury in Aquarius, loves the etymology and a sound approach to word useage...as I recall there were a few peeps with Merc. in Aquarius on that thread, too

I can't guess sun so well but sometimes rising. Libras are easy to spot :) Libra/Sag are kinda easy to spot--

Mainly I can guess ASPECTS. Mercury square Uranus or Merc Squ Moon or Merc squ Mars types .... or some variation of that -- I guess cuz it's about communication and they are revealing something-- so this isn't really on sight but in the first few minutes.

And I can tell of course when someone has lots of neptune in their chart or lots of saturn, for example ------- but this is after talking a little to them. Observe someone's behavior and chart elements will leap out at you 

Hmmm, this all makes me want to start another thread...except I believe my next question is covered in the individual threads regarding each Sun-sign...  So, instead of a thread, I'm going to go rooting instead.

I answered "I do it all the time". If I am wrong in the sun sign I usually get the rising right away. But it's not 100% all the time. I for instance, Gemini men usually have kind of sun/wind burned skin (ok not always extreme, but they look like the have been out doing something), and are usually tall, blondish and are a bit nervous. Scorpio can have either a very piercing or sultry look (Demi Moore), but can also be quite innocent looking (think Goldie Hawn). Also their eyes will usually draw you in, or you feel they see right through you, even if they are friendly! And there are sometimes just vibes about people. But I have been trying to do this a long time!

nusty, i love that the different sides of your brain has arguements with each other! i'm going to honor that with a shiny chicken award!!!

i voted hit and miss. i've had people accurate guess my rising, but never my sun by looking at me, although people that are around me or know me a little could probably come up with it fairly spot on.

and i assume some people have more of a gift for it than others.

Dawn, that's sweet, man.  Have you always (or at least as long as you've understood astrology) been able to get a sense of people in that way?

Goddess, yes...(sigh)...it's a madhouse in here. 

I'm going to work on this and see if I have any Scorpio intuitiveness I can beckon from the depths to puzzle over people I see.  Of course, no one's going to KNOW I'm trying to figure them out ('cause I'm not the staring type), but I'm going to work on it...undercover...shhh.  Dawn, you've inspired me! 

Once in a while it's just obvious (the Scorpio stare; the Aries walk); however there are so many variables with the ascendant and aspects.  I know a fellow I would have sworn was Scorpio; the Plutonian stare, the laser-beam focus on everyone's motivations......turns out he's got Mercury conjunct Pluto in Leo.  Nary a dab of Scorpio to be found.  Maybe it's easy for others; never, really has been for me!

I do get the sun sign once in a while (mostly with saggys)....but it's soo rare compared to how oft I try to guess!!!

I have better luck with planets ....I can see if someone is neptunian...(but it's never enough to guess if he's a saggy, pescies, or has prominent neptune), uranian, plutonian and so forth....

I used to be really good at this but in different ways at different times. At one stage in my life I could accurately guess a person's Chinese sign, but never their western. At another time I was very good at guessing the sun'rising combo. Nowadays, I find I can't guess the sign, but if someone asks me what I make of a person, the description I give generally fits their Sun. Weird.

ram, that's interesting...never thought about doing it by planets.  Since I'm still new to this, I'll try to learn how to gauge those, too...

Opal, that's cool, actually.  I'm thinking about all the people I've observed...especially the girls...and it would be interesting when I'm people watching at the Magic Kingdom to see if certain aspects (astrological of any sort) seem prominent.

To me Leos are easiest to spot (I see an aura), after that I can usually sense a Virgo or Cancer.  Other signs I'm not as good.

I'm curious about Virgo.  I found out I've only known one, and (can't exactly say why, but) I would have pegged her more as a Gemini.  Is there anything you find outstanding about Virgos in particular?  I noticed you mentioned you "sense" Virgos and Cancer.  Can you tell me what it is you sense or how it seems when you sense it?

Well Demelza has a point. There are times it is tricky and I am wrong too. Of course I don't run and look at their chart as to why. But anyway, I just study people and it's not automatic and as Opal says comes out in different ways at different times. I may be over extending my abilities a bit, but i have suprised lots of people!

@nutsy: Also about Virgo in my observations....they tend to look a bit worried, somehow, like they have a lot on their mind but make everything look easy. As far as personality, they do blow hot and cold. But I always feel their warmth underneath the cool exterior somehow. And there is the walk that was discussed here, like they have tender feet or something and may lurch slightly to one side or other, (Cancers will do this too!), they walk carefully and usually slowly but not always. The women are usually very curvy with beautiful large and clear eyes, but can also have a small pinched look about them and both sexes can be very lean, at least from my observation. Again, rising signs etc can change these traites.
