When something is described as "cerebral", are you attracted?

Why or why not?

I like to also feel things below the neck when watching something. (i.e. the heart and groin)

I'd have to agree with namaste though, brainy stuff is good.

one of my favorite directors is pedro almodovar. which also appeals to my brain as I am attempting to learn the spanish language.

It depends. I like cerebral topics but as a personality trait it can be hit or miss.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Depends on my mood and how much I want to escape reality (says the 12H Chart Ruler.)

It does not attract me.  They use the term on netflix...

Does not attract me, not that interested in the brain. "Visceral" does.

Oh yeah, I've seen that term on Netflix.  Yes, generally I like that genre.  :)

Visceral is good, too.  Both is even better.

Nope.

I do like intelligence and cleverness, strategy, tactics, etc. but cerebral as word doesn't do it for me - so says Venus in Scorp

Well, going by the Netflix definition, apparently yes, since "Cerebral, political movies" is the second cathegory they suggests for me. After "Romantic comedies".  Can you tell I'm a Libran with a Mercury ruled chart? razz

I had to look up a definition just to make sure it was the same word I thought it was, says the double Gem H1, with Mercury in Gemini. ;)

Cerebral: Of the cerebrum of the brain.

Intellectual rather than emotional or physical.

Yes, I'm totally attracted to thoughts and a persons mind, and in my case my mind is my emotions and my body. As I have Sun conjunct Moon in Gemini, so they are one and the same, and I have a very strong mind body link (Sun/Moon aspecting H6 stellium in air).

So to turn on my body, the mind needs waking up first. I also don't feel much in terms of attraction for complete strangers, or people I know nothing about. So, yes, I'm highly cerebral. :)

No. Brains and wits are nice but I'm attracted to emotional, passionate people.

I'd like to say no, but with merc in my 1st and venus in gemini.  As long as it's not too dry or 'brainy", yeah, someone competent is fascinating,

Yes.  Please.  Unless it's cold brains.  I like thinking.  I like having something to puzzle out.  I do not like pompositity though.  I am guessing that is what "cerebral" means as a tag on netflix.

<----Agreed with Eixziander. Cold brains are dull and not very cuddly. I prefer warm intellect, and a fun puzzle myself. :)

It can only attract me if it has something heartful with it. I need both.

I often like things that get described as cerebral but I do not like things that describe themselves as cerebral on the package. I prefer to decide after the fact if it was cerebral or not rather than be told ahead of time "You'll like this, it's smart."

The 75 year old Aquarian dude who used to hang out next the cash register while I worked called me "a cerebral type," quite often.

Very attracted, love thinking and people that think deeply.
I like intelligent things, things that make you think and ponder the world.

Yes. My Aquarius-ness and Moon-Uranus loves the Cerebral. Visceral is always good too.

I enjoy wit, I deeply respect wisdom & intelligence... but cerebral sounds negative to me; it sounds like a lot of head without enough heart & soul. As long as there is some balance, it's good.

I'm with Eix:  "cerebral" to me connotates "pretension" and leaves me cold.

I like thoughts and thinking and using my brain, but I don't like anything that smacks of "holier(better)-than-thou."

Had a real problem with A Handbook for the Humanistic Astrologer for this reason, honestly.  A lot of his writing ran in circles simply so he could show off (and this was made very clear by the interview in the back of the Kindle edition!).  Yeah, we get it, you're smart.  Get the to fuckin' point already.  ;)

No.

It wouldn't prevent me from investigating further, but I wouldn't have that "YES!!" feeling either.

Yes. I have a packed 9th house in Libra, I am all about intellectual over visceral. And for me the word "cerebral" does not have the connotation of pretension that others have described, so the word itself doesn't bother me either.

I like Nota's answer and feel similarly. My Mercury/Uranus opposition likes to determine for herself what she will classify something as.

@Kashmiri and nota, me too. Merc/Uranus trine.

I watched a dvd yesterday which i loved but had never heard anyone talk about it. I went to netflix just to see how many stars it had, and how it was described. The decription was off, not just in the captions, but it did not capture what I thought the movie was about.

Both my brother and step sister went to NYU film school. Sometimes I wish I could go too. Maybe when I am in my 70's or something I can do it. (After my nursing school is finished;) )

Those are funny movie categories. I can see why they exist though.

I don't mind cerebral-ness. I enjoy patterns, numbers, in-depth plots and twists, etc. Also, I enjoy hearing peoples thoughts and what's on their mind or what they've recently read. It lets me know who they are to a degree and what they enjoy etc. I have a TON of Uranus and Saturn influence, so I suppose that's why.

Yes.  Brains in a man are what attract me initially.  Other things come later.  (Mars in 9th square Venus.12th.  Venus trines and Mars qunincuxs Uranus in 3rd, Koch House)
