Oooh that looks delish!
I didn't do a big dinner, seeing as it's just me. I did buy a roast chicken yesterday, though, and I'm making soup from the carcass. Nom nom nom
Darn I wish I had taken pictures before it was gone *rubs tummy*
My love cooked the Feast of Seven Fishes for Christmas Eve - it was awesome!
One of the appetizers would have made the coolest photo. It was mussels on the half shell each one topped with mango salsa. the salsa was brilliant orange with red hot pepper bits and green herbs and the shells were arranged in concentric circles ending in a flower pattern in the center on a big platter. With siracha sauce on the side :-) they were yummy and pretty
Elsa, what'd you make? My dad's mom always, always had ravioli for holidays. She might make some ham or turkey, but she ALWAYS had ravioli and Italian cookies and pizelles for Christmas. HAND MADE!
Oh, and my mom's (step) mother used to bring canole every year. So good. Oh my god. The chocolate kind with the chips sprinkled on the ends. Yummm.
I haven't had an Italian Christmas in a LONG TIME.

luci, I made nacatamales which is the soldier's traditional family meal.
My family did not celebrate Christmas from the time I was 7 years old. We were told it cost too much and that was that so I don't really have tradition around this.
No, he was born here but lived there and various other countries in South America when he was growing up.
How do you eat a nacatamale? I'm guessing you unwrap them first but they remind me of delicious chimi changas

Francetta, you boil them and they cook inside the banana leaf, then cut the ties, unwrap and eat them.
