Coping with Tough Transits

I've been reading Arroyo's book on Astrology, Karma, and Transformation.  It's slow going for me because there is so much to contemplate as I read.  Also, I just today was talking to my husband about how trapped he feels by life right now, how he feels like he's the only person who doesn't have a say in his life, and I looked at his chart and these are his transits:

    Neptune Conjunct Natal Mercury

Uranus Conjunct Natal Sun in opposition from transiting Saturn.

    Pluto Squaring Natal Jupiter/Saturn conjunction

Poor guy is a bit of an unhappy mess, and being the huge skeptic, has no desire whatsoever to hear about his transits and understand that "this too shall pass."

Here's his chart.  Does anybody have any thoughts or advice on how to deal with this?  It got me seriously thinking about how we should take advantage of transits to learn and overcome old Karma, but I'm still at a loss as to how to do this, or help someone else do this.

Well it jumps out to me that Pluto is transiting his 12th house. It can be jail for some people. I often felt like I was in jail with that transit. I think this may explain his feeling that he has no control over his life.

The bigger the problem, the more likely I am to start small.

Eg. when Saturn I had my SR in 8th House Leo I bought that book "The Artist's Way." I wasn't part of astroblogging world at all...so I read a book on SR (can't remember which one) and that was a suggestion...I took it.
I volunteered at a children's festival. I went to a bunch of events I could dress in costume in.

Looking at everything going on in his 2nd House I would start small. Ask him what he thinks about the living room set up. Ask him what he wants for dinner. As him for advice about you, the person he loves and is spending his life with.

Chiron conjunct natal Mercury...I would hazard a guess he would benefit greatly to speak his mind about many matters big and small. Perhaps the single most helpful thing you could do for him is cultivate an environment (physical and mental) that shows you are listening.

    Aww Kashmiri,

I'm reading "The Artist's Way", "The Right to Write", and "Walking in This World" all by Julia Cameron.  I go back and forth between books depending on which one I have in my purse in between classes or at a particular moment.  I really enjoy her perspective.  I recommend her books for anyone feeling stuck.

Hi Donderin! Can I just say that your husband and I have nearly identical planet in sign placements (now that I look it up, he was born a few days before me!).

Trapped, disheveled, back and forth depression, all around messy. But good. We're trying hard to be happy. So very hard.

Don't forget TR Saturn in Virgo--opposing his Venus/Sun/Mars conjunction. Saturn in opposition is the main reason we're feeling "trapped".

As far as talking to a skeptic about Saturn imposing limitations...that's a toughy! I think that looking to some of the other transits could help to bring about some "change" which is probably what he wants to achieve (either consciously or not) because of the TR Uranus conjunction.

Does he have any creative outlets? I would think those are some great aspects for coming up with original creative works.

    Thanks for the input everyone!

He is very interested in film, and this week actually shot a fun little short and experimented with creepy special effects.  I posted it on my tumblr if you wanna check it out.

I try to ecourage his love of film as much as possible.  We've talked about working on projects together.  We're both pursuing therapy seperately and together so that we can learn how to deal with our limitations and overcome things, so this is a good sign.  We're both trying!

Neptune is transiting on top of my Sun right now at 23' Aqua, so I can sympathize. It being on top of his Mercury (mind & communications) must be tough! It creates a lot of "confused thinking" on his part, I imagine; and in the second house, he is likely confused and unsure of what he really values in life right now. Neptune can give you a desire to do "more" with life on a spiritual level. Also, Neptune is the higher octave of Venus, which rules art, so I would also suggest he do more with a creative outlet. Neptune should move off his Mercury after January of 2010.

Also, Uranus conjunct his natal Sun is likely a a very strong push to change... his life direction, who he is, what he wants to accomplish. Uranus is the rebel. Saturn opposing shows some of his "trapped" feeling--a strong urge to make changes, but being held back by circumstances, responsibilities.

My approach to life these days is to "work with your demons." You cannot get rid of them, you cannot excise them, so why not make them work FOR you? His challenge at this time is to learn how to start making small changes in his life without shirking his responsibilities. Saturnian discipline can be his guide and channel for those budding creative energies, he just needs to learn to work within his boundaries. Like you said, "this too shall pass."

My husband was also skeptical at the beginning of my astrology studies six or so years ago. He is a scientist, a research physicist. After predicting his transits etc for years now, he believes in the use of astrology.  Good luck.
