Can anyone shed some light on the degree oif signs for me??

Like for example .. I have a 24 degree pisces sun .. 23 degrees sag rising, and a 28 degree scorpio moon ... Does that indicate that I am a more evolved piscean than for example a 5 degree pisces??? Does it mean that I will exhibit those personality contracts even stronger than the lesser degrees??

When it comes to being "evolved," I like to think it's in how you use what you've been given rather than what you innately have -- but I have seen articles (sorry, don't remember where) that say the later degrees of a sign are more "evolved" than the earlier degrees.

There are a couple of people here who have talked about whether a sign's energy is strongest in the first few degrees or last few degrees, but I can't keep the concept in my head to be honest.  *grins*  Maybe they'll stop by?

I don't think it's valid either. There are plenty of Virgos out there, evolved beyond Pisces, however, I do suspect the rising sign / degree might show something of this type. Not evolution, specifically but there is something to be gleaned from the ascendent (sign and degree). I've picked up on this over 40 years of working with astrology. It's just something I have in my head.

What I'm really trying to get an understanding of .. is exactly what DO the degrees of ANY sign indicate?? like a sign is a sign, BUT there is a difference in a 2 degree sign versus a 23 degree sign .. voiding what sign it is, what I'm trying to grasp, is what is the significance of the degrees? what do they mean??

chantel, there are at least 4 books that I know of, on this topic. They give an interpretation of each degree of the zodiac. Sabian symbols is what you want look for.

Lynda Hill has the newest book on the topic (that I know of). I don't have her book but people like her a lot. I have 3 other books and while I studied them (25 years ago), I have not found interpretations of degrees to be helpful in my practice.

Of the books I am familiar with, I liked the book by the Italian the best. I can't think of his name, my books have been put away for 15 years, but I think it is something-telli. :) I liked him best because he has an edge / sort of dark. I don't think Lynda Hill is that way but you'd have to check this out.

:) .. sorry mercury in pisces here.. it's hard sometimes for me to get my meaning across clearly .. I just googled sabian symbols as a matter of fact, not what I'm looking for ..

basically I want to understand, why does astrology even indicate a degree of a sign? Like, there  has to be SOME sort of significance of why astrology indicates degrees ... hope I'm asking clearly ;)

Chantel -Try posting a topic entitled "Why do signs have degrees - who invented this system" on the boards, and see what replies you get.

I have heard/read that the earlier degrees of signs express that sign in the most pure sense- because the sign ruler and the decan ruler are the same. The later degrees are more evolved in the sense that they're getting ready to enter the next sign. But the energy in the later degrees is more dispersed/dissipated than in the earlier degrees.

Hi chantel. Here is a link to Dane Rudhyar's interpretations of the sabian sym. You read the next degree. For example mine is 3 degrees 21 min. Sag so I read the 4 degree Sag section.
