Hey Pixie Dust - this has always confused me too, so I am hoping someone answers your question so I can understand this better too.
I have no clue but I suppose with sadge to cap the focus might go from expanding the power/death/etc. of your fourth house to constricting/limiting or change it to do-the-right-thing?
Equal houses... I would not give up the degree of the sign for all the tea in China. I have had Uranus and Neptune cross my ascendent in my lifetime and the effect is profound.
Gotcha, thanks. After some consideration and reading what you've written, I started looking at equal houses more when it became clear to me that this Neptune-Chiron business is definitely in my 8th house, not 9th. But whole signs just get so wacky for most people who don't have 0-degree ascendants like me.
A Pisces, satori, just pointed out I was confused by a Pisces, PixieDust and did not understand the question.. er, sorry!
There is a difference when the transiting planet changes signs in a house and as soon as I can come up with concrete / clear (Satun in Virgo) way to explain, I will. ::rolls eyes::
Saturn leaves Virgo when???
Saturn in Virgo leaves around October, I think.... hahha... I only sort of know because that marks the end of my Saturn Return :P
Pixie, I think I know what you mean. When I go on Astro and pick the equal house system, my sun and ascendant are in Taurus in the 12th house, but the Taurus overlaps into the first house by about 7-8- degrees then changes to Gemini - and so forth around the whole chart. This means my houses have their cusp in a different sign than the majority of the house. So although my eighth house cusp is in Sagittarius, the majority of my eighth house is in Capricorn. So is there a difference when Pluto (for instance - that's transiting my eighth house now) changes from transiting my eighth house in Sagittarius to transiting my eighth house in Capricorn? or is Pluto transiting the eighth house the same regardless of the eighth house sign - i.e. the sign that counts is the sign the transiting planet is in, not the house it is transiting?
Nothing or almost nothing is just one thing.
"I'm thinking you could theoretically have 2 different kinds of experiences or influences for every house as a planet transits around the chart." - I agree with this.
But then I didn't know what progressions were... now that I do I'm not sold on them at all. So I tend to go against the grain.
Weird.
I just tried the equal house system in Astro.com and my sun is not conjuncting my ascendant (in Aries).
So I guess we have no idea, but just all think it must mean something?
Maybe it means the transit is extra-transformational. I mean, going from one sign to the next is evolution, wouldn't you think? And instead of just sticking to one sign in a house and that gets wrapped up and then it goes and affects a different area, a transit through two signs in a house brings it some measure of conclusion.
Maybe.
Hello Pixie Dust?
This is something that I have thought about too, but need more experience to gain a better insight. I have a large twelfth house. Jupiter will move from Aquarius to Pisces in my 12th house. As Jupiter is such a strong player for me, I am hoping to see if I can discern a different flavour when this occurs.
I was born with 15 degrees in Pisces. Right in the middle!
So my first house is the second half of Pisces and the first half of Aries.
Pluto is currently transiting my 10th house and when it reaches 15 degrees in Capricorn will reach my 11th house.
I finally figured out why I am having to face such important decisions about my career in my life. And that is the 10th house!
I think it's called intercepted houses, for exemple : http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/Intercepted_signs.htm
xglop- thank you.! I read bob marks astrology lessons too, mostly about transits though. I had not read about intercepted houses. I have two pairs of these. 1st and 7th, 6th and 12th. I have learned of these previously, but not spent a lot of time studying this yet. It seems I have a lot to work on, but then I guess I already knew this. Pixie Dust's question is about the flavour of planets changing signs within the same house. Do you have any personal experience of this?
Hi all,
I use equal houses, and I consider my 29º Aquarius ascendant degree, but I have some influence of the following house already about 10º degrees before each cusp.
The best thing is to trace each transit and check what happened. With me, this is easy since I have kept a diary for many years.
Has anyone had Neptune transiting over the ASC? How is it?

I was wondering what you all know/think about this. When a house is divided and includes two signs, what happens when there is a transit over that house? Does the "flavor" of the influence change midway? For example, Pluto transits from Saggitarius to Capricorn in your 4th house-- does the "kind" of transformation change as well? I'm thinking you could theoretically have 2 different kinds of experiences or influences for every house as a planet transits around the chart.
But I don't actually know, which is why I am asking all you nice people.
