I really liked this series of videos:

funny thing... I've been looking for something like this for a long time.  last week I saw a video by the chick in this, but the video was on parenting!  I think I even posted it here.

my brother in law works for the guy who wrote the book the couple references... and I just saw their video on that site.  I should have discovered this stuff a long time ago.

Satori, thank you for sharing this! I just watched all the videos and really enjoyed them. I can relate a lot to how Genevieve is, haha.

Here's a question for you and the collective: one thing I noticed is that the couple believes in God aka they have a deep spiritual bond. I'd say that's key to making their dynamic work. But what if you're involved with someone who is an atheist and deeply against what they consider the concept/notion of God, organized religion, and in particular Christianity?

@Jennifer: Meaning one person is a deist (believes in whatever deity/god) and the other is adamantly, and/or militaristically, atheist?  Good question...

Yes. Doesn't have to be a deity, could be the Great Mystery or the Multiverse or New Agey-crystals. But yes - one person believes in something and their partner believes in...nothing.

Atheists, as I understand it, don't believe in God, but I know some who can rationally understand Ancestor worship.

Hrm...  I've seen it happen, but never for the long-term.  The longest I know of a relationship like that lasting was three years (which isn't such a long haul imo).

In the couple I was closest to, it was just an agree-to-disagree thing between them.  They made a pact to not snort, roll eyes, or otherwise be dismissive/confrontational on this one issue, but it was definitely an elephant in the room, always.

this is interesting...I watched the first two videos and bookmarked the series to watch later.

Lately I've been exposed to so much educational information about relationships...I'm getting very hopeful about fixing my weak chart spots.

Exactly, SaD. That's what I've seen. One of the happiest, most stable couples I know is where both are atheist. They're total science and non-fiction geeks and grok eachother like that.
