Do Scorpio/8th House types attracted mentally unstable/nutters/psychos?
posted 2 years ago in General
Okay sorry for the possibly Non-PC wording of the topic...
My question partly stems from Elsa mentioning Rebecca Schaeffer and the events that lead to her death ( the psycho dude that found her address and murdered her) how it had to do with her being a scorpio sun...
and then on Facebook there's a group called "Sun Sign Psycho-cology" and the author titles the Scorpio section "Scorpio-The Looney Magnet"... she writes, "Experience has taught them for every one normal person they attract, they’ll attract two lunatics. Yes, Scorpios get all the bad press for being psycho stalkers, but 80 percent of the time they’re the ones being stalked by psychos."
(S'cuse me if i'm all over the place here btw. Can get scatterbrained sometimes!)
So my question is, what would be the reasoning behind this phenomena... why does scorpio attract the crazies?
I only have neptune in scorpio and chiron in the 8th BUT i do have pluto in the 1st and i always feel like people stare at me in public (i take the subways a lot) and it drives me up the wall. That i give off some kind of intense energy even when i walk down the platform, minding my own business. It makes ME feel crazy to have these eyes on me, to feel it and then look up and have people staring. I want to be invisible.
And no it's not my imagination!
Anyway, this is slightly different from what you are saying. The similarly is that it's drawing to me what i don't want.
I don't necessarily draw the crazies though -- well, I do draw people-- some may be crazy. And I have a friend who DOES draw crazy friends and they always want to talk to me ugh.
I'd think women esp with pluto or scorpio mash-ups would draw in a lot of obsessive types or abusive types--
As for "why" -- I have some ideas but it's 4 in the morning and i'm losing steam now :)
Crazy people totally feel at home with scorpio energy. They think they have found a friend there, someone who understands them. Even if they want to do that person harm--
I wonder why that is. My guess is that it might be the combination of having an understanding of the dark side of human nature (Pluto), and being empathetic water... but is there more? Why is scorpio a more convenient sounding board for the crazies?

I don't know about crazy, but certainly I've experienced a lot of this over the years. I have Scorpio Moon/Neptune aspecting Pluto. I often get people who just suddenly decide I am their friend and get completely full-on with me straight away. Which I, being Cap, find incredibly intrusive and have to back off eventually. It is at this point they start behaving crazy. Non-stop phone calls etc.
I don't think the people are necessarily crazy. I think they are lonely, and desperate for friendship so they project like crazy when they meet the energy and assume it's reciprocated. So when it's withdrawn I guess it's cold turkey for them, I don't know.
I find it very freaky. While I can get obsessive about things myself, and I recognise the symptoms, I do know when to stop, especially if someone else is uncomfortable. Saturn aspects my moon so reins it in a great deal. Certainly, where friendship is concerned, I believe it is something that forms organically, over time, and can't be forced.
Interesting question, and thanks for bringing it up.
Let's see if i can express myself on this; sociopaths bottom line is loneliness (they lost the connection with their emotional ruths),their energy is messy and they find in compulsive behaviour a compensative mind structure. The scorpio energy is a fertile and reliable ground for emotion to grow and transform. The sociopath searches the scorpio as he searches a way back to his feeling.
In the late 80's I worked at Great America in Santa Clara, and for some odd reason heavy guys used to always say to me: "Dude, I'd like to wrestle you." Talk about creepy! I always took a side-step or two away from them, said "I don't think so" and avoided them afterwards. Yeesh!
Just to clarify, I meant to add as a side note that i didn't mean to use the word crazies so haphazardly like that, I didn't mean people who had mental illness in general, I specifically meant mentally unstable individuals with ill intent ( or the emotionally unstable... if you catch my drift ). That's probably not very clear from my post though so sorry for that bit of misunderstanding. (The author of the article on facebook used the word looneys and I guess I failed to bridge a gap between the humorous dialogue in her post and the somewhat more serious topic at hand ) ...
lol nutsy.

Yeah opal I would have to agree with you there. That is actually what I meant to highlight, so thank you for bringing that up. I meant specifically to include those types of people but it somehow got lost in translation. Why is scorpio/8th house energy so prime for projection? What about it leads people in like that ( textbook "crazy" or not? ) why scorpio as a sounding board for their inadequacies?
By crazy i did mean to include people who aren't exactly self-aware and project and disregard boundaries, those types i would include as well ( not necessarily crazy according to psych definitions... but that kind of unawareness of the actions... projecting, etc ) . I mean you don't have to be crazy to be damaging to another individual ( captain obvious right here lol )
I'm kind of tripping over my words so if you catch my drift more power to ya
You got that right, jo! I'm crazier than a shithouse rat sometimes, but I don't harm anyone (and don't intend to harm anyone...unless they deserve it)--and I try not to magnetize other crazy people, 'cause I don't want to have to compete with them! ![]()
That's right, Dina,
We can amputate like butchers...you ever notice that a lot of astrology sites actually state that Scorpios make awesome butchers? ![]()
i think there are people who are drawn to scorpio/pluto/eighth because some part (generally subconscious) of them is looking for healing.
and others because they want the energy the other person has.
often both.
looney birds are just... more tricky to deal with, one some levels. and noticeable. particularly when they come over and threaten to kill everybody in the room.
agree w/elsa re sociopaths. as i understand it, they don't want to feel. they seem to see it as a weakness that most people have that they can use to their own advantage. as if everyone else had this mutation that gave them one leg instead of two. why would they want that?
For whatever reason, Scorpios attract me. Haha. Not in a physical way, it just happens that I've been friends with more than one Scorpio. I've noticed this and been surprised, I would have expected to be friends with a few more air signs. But I only have one planet in air. I'm not crazy, though, people just think I am.
The funny thing is my Scorpio friend has attracted several unstable people with issues since she's been friends with me, but her ex that she loves is a very rational Virgo Sun. She thinks that maybe she finds the drama interesting. She also has a lot of Libra so she likes to be partnered. And has Neptune so that she falls in love. I wouldn't have patience to deal with it because I have Venus quincunx Uranus and just want to be freeeee.
I usually blame my crazy-magnetness on having Uranus rising, but that is in Scorpio...
Interesting thread. Scorpio Moon in the 11th conjunct Uranus, squaring Jupiter and Mercury in the 8th.
I've had a lot of unstable people come in to my life. I also attract types looking to sponge off my energy. This may sound crazy in its own right, but I've also felt I attract people who see me as a reflection of themselves — in a positive sense some have wanted to be my mentors, in a negative ... well, sociopaths are in LOVE with themselves. Who knows, could also be my Neptune conjunct ASC, people see what they want to see in me.
Unfortunately, whatever the astrology, I've had the *pleasure* of dealing with some very ill people. One "fast friend" proved herself to have borderline personality disorder, the height of the expression being she wanted to marry me one day and the next was screaming at me about abandoning her (she was already married to a man and we were never romantically involved). One of my ex-boyfriends (also a "fast mover") is right on the cusp of being a sociopath, definitely in the anti-social disorder spectrum.
In my case, the crazies have tapped my vulnerability as they've come in to my life during periods of pervasive loneliness. Fortunately at this point I'm a. not so needy b. decent at spotting them.
And I'm with Elsa and the others on this ... 99.9 percent of sociopaths aren't looking for healing. Also, don't be deceived — they have plenty of feelings. None of those feelings, however, have anything to do with regard for other people.
People attempt to get up in my aura ALL the time. I feel I have to scan for em too so I'm fully prepared. I deal by creating psychic boundaries, diversions, deflections, whatever to protect my energy and being in general.
I have Neptune Scorpio 8th, Mars Sadge 8th, plus major Pluto aspects (? not sure if that applies). But sometimes I actually think it's my Pisces Asc that invites all the crazy, intense, needy, and/or boundary-less people...? It could also be the Sun Cancer "mama nurturer" thing too?
The gift?
It's taught me to have clear boundaries most of the time- from the get-go, BEFORE they try to sponge me up!
Nutsy, I spent the late 70's and early 80's years hangin' at Great America, Santa Clara;P
Xenia!
Sweet! Are you a Bay Area native?
Great America was my work-place and playground in '88-'89, until I was canned July of '89 for helping to write a lewd song/poem about my bitchy supervisor.
Despite the fact that I was a crazy son of a bitch, I actually managed to make lead in the Games department, even as I often stood on the game-counters whooping my head off and raising hell. Those were fun-times!
I actually wrote a book about my experiences during the '88 season, because it was my first big "project" and I took daily journals, which I made into scripts, which I used as the basis for each chapter. It's over 1,000 pages and I'm actual working on a revision to get it re-copyrighted under my new pen-name (since no one had the balls to publish Nutsy MacLewis). My historical fiction series comes first, though, so "Season Tickets" is laboring on the side for the time being.
Nutsy,
About guys wanting to wrestle you...
My husband is a Scorpio with tons of Pluto in his chart. He's magnetic yet gentle, unassuming, and private. BUT, guys want to mess with him ALWAYS! They mess with him at work, the gas station, the store at all hours doesn't matter. If there's an a-hole out and about looking for trouble, they close in on him.
The result?
His cool, calculating Scorpio defenses kick in, and he will take them out in a flash, whether it be verbal or physical (amputation). It's kind of scary to witness, but I love it. Sick huh?
Haha, Xenia,
I'm a Scorpio who responds the same. I'm underestimated because I'm small, but I learned to fight the hard way, and I let them assume I'm a defenseless little wimp until they throw the first punch, then I get a little barbaric and bloodthirsty. I try to avoid confrontations because I can gain a violence-lust that could land my ass in jail pretty quick if I don't tether it. But yeah, what is it with males always wanting to get physical with us Scorpios? Damn it, we're just minding our own business! ![]()
Thanks Xenia!
I've got two good friends who live in San Francisco right now. It kind of amuses me that when I lived in the Bay Area, going up to the 'city' was a treat, and it was about 50 miles from San Jose where I grew up...but I live in Anaheim now, and the thought of going to the 'city' (Los Angeles) has no charm for me whatsoever.
Haha, and, by the way, I don't think it's sick that you appreciate the way your Scorpio reacts to those dumb enough to fuck with him! ![]()
Demelza, if you mean the one I wrote at Great America about the bitchy supervisor (sniffle-sniffle) I never got a copy of it... I need it for the second "Season Tickets" book, but eventually I'm going to have to treat the actual words to that poem/song the way Quentin Tarantino did to the contents of the mysterious briefcase in "Pulp Fiction".
Sad really, I thought it was rather funny...although it was considered 'sexual harassment' at the time. Hadn't known at the time that the guy originally writing it had intended to show it to my nemesis, who took it straight to my supervisor, but oh well--everything happens for a reason...it wised my ass up real quick about at-work behavior. It was my first job and I was crazy and reckless, so I guess I needed a reality check and got one BIG time.
I have a lot of 8th house and I don't think I attract anyone particularly screwed-up. Thank goodness. I've got enough of my own. :)
In fact, I warn people in my romantic relationships: "Everything I touch breaks. No, really. Screwed up situations happen to me and if you can't ride through rough shit or learn how, you'd best not even bother."
Well put, luci--your approach reminds me of how I saw my brother and I up until recently...I always said we had the 'Midas touch for turning everything to shit'
I have a venus-mars conjunction in the 8th and Saturn + Midheaven in Scorpio. I must say that I have had a tendency to attract "unstable" people...definition of crazy obviously differing greatly across the board. But people close to me with diagnosed mental illness? Certainly. Several. And I can also get some really intense stares (as someone mentioned above) from strangers on the street, in the subway, etc. I always thought that I was just too sensitive to other people's energy but if this 8th house/Scorpio news is the word on the street...
you learn somethin' new every day!
Well iv studied astrology for over 30yrs and met many a moon in scorpio, mmm , the moon is in it's detroment in scorpio and where the influence of the moon is strong this type can be very noticable. very easy for this energy to be negative, very rarley positive in my own opinion. sorry if this offends , i think they are the nutters not attracting them sorry.
Karen- I am a Scorpio moon, but actually agree with you on a certain level. I have definitely attracted some very unstable people; including a schizophrenic/bipolar boy who stayed with a roommate (who didn't think it necessary to inform the rest of the roommates of his condition) of mine's for a couple of weeks. Long story short, he began thinking that he could communicate with me telepathically and we were connected on some deep soul-level. To cut the story VERY brief....it didn't end well at all and this belief led to a very dangerous situation that was prevented from becoming worse only by my instincts and my other roommates help.
The point of this story is that I think he believed that he was connected to me in this way because there is perhaps a compassion for emotional/mental instability that Scorpio types have. Even after feeling threatened and terrified, I wasn't necessarily angry at him once I learned of his condition and had put all the pieces together. Keep in mind, I am certainly NOT one of those never-get-angry types of people. If I feel I've been treated unjustly I let you know...loudly.
So, I don't think that we are "nutters", but I do think that perhaps we understand the depth and dangers of emotional instability more than others and perhaps that is misinterpreted as a kinship of shorts with the 'crazies."
Who doesn't need fixing? I don't necessarily think scorpio attract freakshows (but then again I'm not one so what do I know). I think that they're in tune with the dark side of themselve and are also intuitive about other peoples darkside. I feel you can touch any subject with Scorpios without them getting judgemental. So maybe they're just open to people's madness/darkness
