Do you know anyone....

My grandfather was beaten to death by three men in a hate crime. Actually, he was beaten unconscious, and taken the hospital where he died of a heart attack soon after he was admitted.
The person I've tried to help cope with and live with it in my own rather quiet way is my Mother. I just listen when she wants to talk, and don't mind when she doesn't, or gets angry.
My friend had a nephew who was beaten to death by his mother's boyfriend who was "watching" the boy while the mother was in jail.
Another friend had her granddaughter shaken to death.
I just listened when they wanted to talk. And as far as being next, I pity the fool...
Wow, intense! I can see why Pluto rules death.
One of my boyfriends from high school was murdered in a pretty horrible way just before Christmas 1996. I'd met him and his twin sister through drama club and was friends with his sister during the time he and I went out. The relationship didn't last long, and I lost touch with his sister as well.
He'd apparently gone into social work, and was working in Toronto at the time of his murder. Someone killed him and then put his body in a dumpster, setting it on fire. It made the local paper (in the town where he and I had been in high school), with a huge picture of his twin sister and her husband at the gravesite. The murder has never been solved. I didn't get in touch with his family at the time, figuring it would be too intrusive.
From what my Mom told me long ago, her father had both parents killed when he was a boy. Well, I don't mean HE had them killed, but apparently they were brutally murdered before he was a teenager.
My fraternal grandfather was killed. The man that killed him was never charged.
When my dad reached the same age as his father was when he was killed, he accidentally crossed paths with the murderer. My dad said all the blood left his face, and he ran as fast as he could away from my dad. I guess he thought he was seeing a ghost....who knows.
The story gets crazier when we fast forward to my elderly grandmother in the hospital. Guess who was in the hospital room with her? The wife of the man that murdered my grandfather?!
That's some crazy shit.
Anyway, when my dad or his sisters talk about their dad, I always just listen without saying much. Their young lives was made very very difficult by my grandfather's death, but they overcame it. He was killed in the early 1950's and they don't seem to have an emotional reaction to the memories at this point.

who has had a family member murdered? Do you know anybody who's known another family who's had a member murdered? A friend's family member? Knew a friend's friend's family member who's been murdered?
Sorry, I'm in an 8th house/Pluto mood right now.
Did you help them cope? How did they cope? How did your friend cope? Etc, etc, etc.
Were they scared of being 'next'?
