Do you like the spotlight? Or do you prefer the shadows?
posted 9 months ago in General
Ha ha, Elsa,
My problem is is that I half want attention and I half want seclusion. But hey, that's what you get when you have a fire and water triplicity.
I also like both (leo venus, scorpio mars)
I hate to be noticed when I feel like the scorpio, it's like being cought
SHADOWS!!!! 12th house Sun, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury and Scorp rising. Plus I have Saturn in Leo, so there is no way I enjoy either being the center of attention or lots of drama.
I love the spotlight in my own small circle - leo MC but out in the real world I am an observer and I like to be invisible - scorpio rising, cap moon. I do that with huge dark sunglasses and headphones :)
heheh Bella!!! I can definetely relate to this :)
I love spotlight in my own world !! But then suddenly I become like that girl on the TV (The Secret World of Alex Mack). I want to transform myself into a liquid form and disappear after being exposed for too long :P
Asc-mars Pisces ---- Venus Scorpio ---- MC, Sag
Shadows. Not sure of the astrology, though. I've got Neptune and the Midheaven in Scorpio, for what that's worth.
Both.
But I'm not clear that Pisces always wants to be in the shadows, for what that's worth. I have Pisces Sun, Mars & Chiron, and sometimes, I like to perform. I think it's more my Cancer ascendant that leads me into the shadows.
Nothing in Leo, but I do have Jupiter & Venus in Aries, so that likely also prompts my performance/spotlight side?
Totally depends. For example, I don't even have a picture of myself on here but I want attention for a job well done - whether it's my paid work or creative stuff, anything that relates to my identity/self-worth - I need appreciation for it (Venus in Leo) or I feel kind of invisible. I wonder if this is a saturn/neptune issue as well. Not sure. Needing others to confirm what I hope is true.
But in a crowd? At a party? Yeah, shadows, side of the room, observing. But I can be really chatty or really listeny, depending--
I'm too shy to be an actor but I love hearing my words acted or read out loud.
Shadows... although I have this secret desire to be in the spotlight! I'm really "shy".
Spot. Light! :) But only if I get to pick the audience. :D
Scorpio moon and ascendant always fighting with Sun/Jupiter/Merc in Gemini.
i have a bit of draw to the spotlight with Leo rising, but seldom felt very understood by the rest of the world (Neptune/midheaven and Gemini Moon sq. Saturn). I dig feeling acknowledged and yes, it pimps my ego, but have trouble with the emotional stress of feeling exposed/misunderstood.
My desire to shine vs. hide can turn on a dime. So I have to be able to retreat on demand to safety to be comfortable with any spotlight.
Spotlight.... i may deny it upfront but deep down inside i yearn for spotlight but i want to be graceful and humble and in no ways pompus....moon in leo i guess...
My moon and rising are in Leo. Basically, as long as I'm personally happy with the version of me being presented, I'm good to go. Shine that light, I'm pretty awesome! :D
Both.
When I was a kid, I got a lot of unwanted attention. Thing was, I did silly things to get attention (Leo), and kids didn't get the hint when I didn't want the attention any more.
The timing of my wanting to slip into the shadows coincided with a big Pluto transit--it was conjunct my DSC. It then went on to square most of my personal planets over the next 25 years.
I still get noticed, whether I want it or not.
Wow, LisLioness those 25 years must have been intense!
Your story was very interesting.
And dolce, I know exactly what you mean! Why not be a Scorpio? King of the Night?
I want my work to be in the spotlight yet me in the shadows.
(Mars-ruled chart - Mars in Leo, 12th house sun in Aries)
Toni, intense doesn't cover it, and Pluto isn't finished with me. It will hit my MC eventually (15 Cap) and square my Moon (19 Libra). I have a few years to go before this happens, so I'm steeling myself for it.
Sun conjunct MC in Capricorn
oh i hate publicity and beeing in the limelight, inspite of my 10th house sun! I have a huge lack of confidence, I don't trust people and therefore i'm pretty asocial. Venus (ruler of chart) and Mercury are in 11th house, yet i'm a social retard and painfully conscious of this fact :(
so SHADOWS!
jenfullmoon,
you are saying exactly what I am thinking! Except the Mars in Leo and Scorpio rising part.
Spotlight baybeeee! My huge stellium in Leo all trine Jupiter is not going to let me slip into the shadows. In fact, I have made it my goal in the next few years to get myself on a stage! However, that stellium is in the 4th, so I like to have a home base to retreat to should the light be too glaring, or to recuperate before I run out into it again.
Shadows? You mean there will be enough light for shadows to fall? DARK please!!!
TURN OUT THOSE LIGHTS!!!
I may have a stellium in Leo in my fourth house, but I was painfully shy as a child and still prefer to stay in the background. Maybe because my stellium is Mars, Pluto and Saturn - not the "friendliest" crowd.
kiriecat, I have a close friend with a bunch of planets in the 4th. Outgoing and personable, but places a lot of emphasis on having plenty of time alone in the shadows to process. "I love having time to myself to just chill." Painfully shy at times too (as am I with my chart ruler in the 12th), but desperately wants to be world-famous for something
4th house: the "Cancer" house of private and personal life, emotional needs. I am slowly learning that it isn't all about the family and laying down roots.
Lupa, I'm like you and lots of others here: Leo Sun, Jupiter, Mars & Pluto, spanning the 9th and 10th houses gives me lots of time to shine whether I want to or not. Scorpio Moon and Asc. have me looking and longing for my cave the entire time tho.
hmmm....a lot of Scorpio vs. Leo stuff going on here. Since they are square to each other, it makes sense we would be coming out of the wood work to answer!...lol I like both depending on my mood...Scorpio Sun, rising and Mars in the 12th house. Moon in Virgo in the 10th at my MC. But most of the time I am a wall flower and sit with a friend in the shadows...or alone.
I'm like Lunalie
ME in the shadows - my work in the spotlight.
I was in a band for a while. I played standup bass. It was great. Everyone watches the singers and the lead instruments. But now that I'm painting, I want you to see my paintings, but not me.
mimitabby--your work should be in the spotlight! You are a talented artist!
I'm so jealous!! =)
Please don't be jealous, you're young, if you want to pursue a career in art, don't wait until you're in your 50's like I did!
Heh. My conversation with my shrink yesterday was me angsting about the idea of going into the spotlight and and she was all, "BUT YOU'RE NOT EVEN DOING ANYTHING TO TRY YET."
I want to, but I'm afraid of making myself into a giant target for stalkers, shooters, etc. I was the school target for abuse from the first day of kindergarten on and I do not look forward to having a similar experience again if I step out of the shadows, y'know?
Makes sense. At least you, (Jenfullmoon) know why you prefer the shadows. I have always been this way, even as a small child.
I have Uranus in Leo. So I need an occasional spurt (Uranus) in the limelight (Leo).
But mostly, I am heavily Scorpionic, so SHADOWS 99% of the time.
This is where astrology becomes a paradox to me. With a leo sun in 12th house conjunct ascendant, I should be like this huge lamppost. The problem is that, I am like a lighthouse built 10 miles off the shore. I have lots of water, water everywhere! So I guess, my light shines on those who are about to "drown and die".
What do you think, Elsa?
in my life so far i've preferred the shadow. when there comes a time that i must go under the spotlight, i'll adjust.

I'm curious to everyone's opinion on which position they prefer when it comes to being in a group of people.
Do you prefer the spotlight? (Leo)
Or do you prefer to blend in the crowd or stay in the backseat? (Scorpio/Pisces)
Me? I prefer the spotlight, but only to a certain extent! I do not want to be internationally famous. I do not want to be like Elvis Presley or Britney Spears. That's wayyyy too much spotlight, even for me. I want to shine in a moderate sized community like a school or a business meeting.
This is probably because of my Moon in Leo. I also have a lot of fire so that's why I need a certain amount of attention. But my water signs makes me need seclusion also (Venus/Pluto in Scorpio, Pisces Ascendant, and Chiron in Cancer).
