Lately I've been really interested in Pluto and came across an article where the author talked about "dominant" Pluto aspects. So what would you consider these to be? What sort of aspects? How could you tell that Pluto was a main player in a person's chart?

LOL! Rantares, I always love your responses! The depth and just cutting to the chase. It's awesome...

Well I've got a pretty intense Sun/Pluto opposition which is always a joy to have...

Haaaaa where do I start Sun and Mercury opp. Pluto. Moon in 8th sextile pluto, Mars Trine pluto, Venus sq. Pluto. Pluto conj. Lilith and MC. re-flipping-diculous all my inner planets somehow aspect pluto and it is a huge part of my personality. I have recently started looking at pluto aspects more everything I'm reading is very accurate.

@Lilith ~ Isn't it interesting though? I've been getting into it more and more too and have come to find the same thing...

I read in a recent article that sometimes people with Sun opp Pluto go for "powerful" figures and that they live (sun) for the drama (pluto) and can never let it go. I've gotta admit this makes sense to me but I'm also at the point where I would like to know how I could use this aspect in a positive way. How can I harness it's positive energy?

Mars/Pluto is pretty dominant.  It gets a pretty bad rap but yea, just stay out of our way and everything will be fine LOL razz

Astrofix maintains a pretty good site describing aspects. here's the link to Mars/Pluto "Killer Instincts"

@smolderingflame, Thats a good question ! I guess the intense drive of pluto can be used in a positive( sun) way.. So much easier said than done lol! Its truly a force to be reckoned with. I'm still trying to figure out how I can use this placement to its potential.. Can you literally feel the shift from Sun to Pluto sometimes too??

Here is Donna Cunningham's test to see how strong your pluto is:

I think I scored a 27. haha.

Oh the mars pluto stuff seems a little overblown.. maybe because mine is trine and a harmonious aspect.. I'm not physically violent or aggressive at all. But when I get mad I will verbally disembowl who ever crosses my path !

**edit re-read this article and confused it with another** This article is pretty accurate especially the part about piercings! Pain kills pain.

@smoldering flame   ..  the fact that you WANT TO USE PLUTO FOR GOOD is enough

believe me.. most of the world is terrified of the bastard and won't even aknowledge that anything positive can come from his presense.

the trick is to acknowledge that there is something beneficial within the demon..  then, you need to figure out how you can relate to him and which angle you choose to gain his trust.

once you have trust, he will take you anywhere you want

I've got Pluto conj my Moon which is also conj my MC. Pluto aspects everything in my chart except for my Sun and Uranus. On the "How Plutonian" test, I scored off the charts somewhere and quit counting when it came to minor aspects since I had already maxed out the chart.

I think if you find Pluto on an angle or conj a personal planet, well, then you've got a dominant aspect with Pluto. It would of course depend upon the rest of the chart as well.

@Chandra ~ I scored in the 40s...Guess that counts for something wink

@Lilith ~ Sometimes I can but at other times it isn't until after the fact that I realize that an authoritive figure has played a role in my life that I realize that Pluto may have been playing behind the scenes. Maybe even my Saturn in Scorp for that matter. I like to think that Pluto enjoys playing with my Aries energy or at least give it a ride for it's money. It asks if it wants a challenge and then gives me a wild pitch to swing at. Of course, I'm being "slightly" sarcastic with that last sentence... wink

Sometimes I wonder if I'm truly an Aries but I know that I am, just a little bit more on the grounded side than most...lol

@Rantares ~ Well I think you can always use anything for good. Even if it's tough lessons learned, it can still be used for good. I know that there's a dark side out there and I've fallen flat on my face many a times (even while someone took there boot to shove it into the ground a little bit deeper) but I've always been able to bounce back. It's taken alot of fight but I know that I will always rise again...Half the time I'll have a smirk on my face and ask if there's anything else...lol

On how to harness his power? I'm still trying to figure that one out. I've never truly viewed Pluto as a demon. I've viewed him more as the challenger/judgement/ruler type. He's like the man behind the curtain messing with a gigantic computer board and seeing what you'll do. That might sound like Saturn to some but I view Saturn as the one to get in your face and say, here's a wall. Climb it. Pluto to me is the one who will put you thru a test that you don't even know about and allow you to choose on the side of light/dark...Go right or left, it's your choice...Then whatever road or action you take, there is a reaction, be it for good or bad...Sometimes you've gotta keep going thru the same test time after time before you pass and can have a transformation...

Maybe I'm completely wrong on this one but I just don't see Pluto as a complete bad guy...Maybe a jackass on many of occassions and I've cursed him out way too many times to count but I can look back and see why he was messing with me...

@Rantares ~ I think there's always a choice for every obstacle that comes our way. Even if it means having to go down a road we don't want to travel down. Alot of times, the choice is whether or not to give up our "power"...That's where Pluto plays...Even if we don't want to do something but it's forced on us, the question is do we give up our "power" while doing it? I'll let you chew on that one wink

Oh and another cool quote that I found by Liz Greene was "a volcano is often located wherever Pluto is found in the horoscope." and that it's location is where we may have an explosion of emotions erupt...It's where the wound gets cut wide open and it may leave some pretty nasty scars but it does that so the real healing can begin...

Go figure, my Pluto is in the 10th house...The house of authoritive figures and external powers...Couple that with a sun/pluto opp, saturn in scorp and scorp MC and you could say I'm good to go...

Anybody go any boxing gloves that I can borrow? I may need them... razz

@sm  i LOVE your image of pluto.  two choices.. make one..... and you never even know he's there.  it's perfect.

i only speak of him in ill light because, more often than not, he is viewed in ill light by the masses... most people don't like him.  and i don't blame them.

but i know he is beneficent.  almost like the higher power of saturn (though i know they say he is the higher power of mars), he inflicts with intentions that are only meant to result in good.  it may be a good that you never see, but that isn't important..  he encompasses all.

I have Pluto conj my Moon and MC on the 10H side. An explosion of emotions would very accurately describe me. Not to be all "I'm special", but I've often felt that my emotions are generally more intense than others in the same situations. There is no quantative way of measuring such a thing, which would be pointless anyway. I imagine most wouldnt expect me to have a Virgo moon at the very least.

@Rantares ~ Couldn't have said it better! If the sun is our light or life force and Pluto is on the opposite end of the spectrum, would he then be considered life's scuplter? He's definitely not a black hole or taker of it...It's almost as if he's got a flashlight/laserpointer and can find all of those cracks or imperfections in us. Once he does, he begins his work and and the molding process begins...

I know, crazy train of though but it just hit me...lol wink

@ Rant - Yep, that's my 10th, with Uranus thrown in there later too. It wouldn't be a party if Uranus wasn't crashing in midway through the 10H!

No pun intended! lol

crashing crazy train.....   mind befuddled................ whoa

my pluto and uranus are semi-sextile with my sun just about midpoint.  they are both full sextile the bounds of my square forming a cross with their aspect lines.  (moon square neptune, moon sextile uranus, neptune sextile pluto.. everything in my chart exists within that moon/neptune square)

@Luckyduck ~ I can relate! Isn't it lovely too?!?! I feel it pretty intensely too but prefer to just cut thru it and get to the heart of the mattter. Otherwise I will spin in circles. I learned my lesson on that one a few times. I've also had to learn to try and control how I react to things. Not that I explode or go crazy but I don't always need to have the final say or to be heard...Sometimes it's best just to step back from the mic and let them win...Not always easy for my aries/cardinal signs wink

Rant - That would be hard, having everything looping back. Is yours the chart that someone yesterday said was like a "closed system"?

smoldering_flame - I've been learning those lessons too. The heart of the matter gets clouded in my case because emotions get involved. I've also got Merc in Aries. I hate walking away, but I do. Often it's because I get flustered by the emotional aspect and need to walk away to clear my head of the tangled up logic and emotions.

I have to go with what Rant says about luminaries and angles. As for Pluto/Mars..lol..yeah, I got that. In the 8th house also conj Pallas (Libra) and I'll agree there can be volcanic ash after. The biggest Pluto ordeal for me that I'm noticing lately is the near exact square to Jupiter. I can totally be one righteous bitch sometimes.

My Natal Pluto is smack bang in the middle of my triple conjunction. Scorp Jupiter on one and the other is Saturn conjunct to my MC!! But it is more noticeable when it connects to my 2nd house Pisces Moon. I'm so  sweet, but mess with me and I will righteously cut you....Yeah it's in Libra only if you hurt me.LOL

I have been re-examining Pluto. I am reading Cosmic Karma by Marquerite Manning. She sees pluto as your cosmic arsenal. It is the power you have been given to initiate new beginnings. Of course, it always created death-like endings. (in my case, some transits have caused real death endings). But I am entranced with this version of pluto. So according to this book, Rantares, pluto in your tenth house means that you are intensely reluctant to relinquish control over your life to any authority figures in it, but you are intensely attracted to people in authority. your karmic role is to protect yourself and others from destructive evils in positions of social power.

Pluto being dominant in the chart is not the same as being a Scorpio. To me, Scorpio is an arch-type or mode that one uses to express their solar/lunar or ascendant energy. But these modes can and usually are modified by other planetary placements such as Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, etc.  Elsa wrote a good piece describing what it means to be Plutonian awhile back.

To be Pluto dominant (or Plutonian) is having one or more Pluto contact points to the Sun, Moon or primary Angle(Asc/Dec, IC/MH). I would also add Pluto being in hard aspect (conjunct, square, opp.) to the Sun/Moon midpoint in a tight orb (3 degrees or less) should be considered as well. In this way, Pluto's energy is transmitted directly into someone's core aspect, inevitably changing them into either an Avatar of Pluto (Sun, Asc) or recepient of Plutonic demons (Moon, IC) from others.

In my own case, I have Pluto Sq. Sun, Pluto Sq. Moon, Pluto in exact (7 minutes) Sq. of my Sun/Moon midpoint (plus Moon and Sun in conjunction together), Pluto Sq. Mercury and Pluto in the 1st house near my Ascendant.  So I both 'project' and 'receive' Plutonic energy. Looking back I can definately say this has been the main force in my chart and life history. I've been studying Pluto intensly this last year, trying to get some sort of understanding of this powerful aspect that is a part of myself and gain some sort of nominal control over it rather than strictly being controlled by it.

And so far, I am just beginning to see what this energy has done. Nearly every company I've worked for has collapsed into bankruptcy of some kind; one got raided by the FBI. I seem to detect or highten certain aspects of the environment that usually causes a destructive change. Thankfully, not all of my environments has this occured but more than a few.

In my personal relationships, I've been the recepient of every girl's insecurity that I can think of, especially when I was a teenager. More recently, I've been able to help a few women heal some grevious wounds, especially those dealing with deaths in the family and alcohol. Having seen my own mother deterioate into alcoholism and then commit suicide, I was able to help my last girlfriend deal with her own father's alcoholism and abuse and her brothers death. Even though the relationship didn't last, I feel that this was the most important aspect for her and the main reason why it came about.

Now I'm trying to deal with my own, overwhelming ambition and power and trying to understand it. How to use this power for something greater than my own wounded ego or vanity and self esteem is something that both transiting Pluto and Saturn is forcing me to understand.
