It was Stephen Arroyo who coined the term "double whammy" to describe a theme that is repeated twice in astrology whether it's in the natal chart or by transit. For example, having Venus in Pisces and Neptune in the 7th would be a double whammy as the Venus/Neptune theme is repeated twice.

When you have something like this in your chart (and some have triple or quadruple whammies), the energy is going to constantly come up in life so the more you can learn about it the better.

Do you have a double whammy in your chart? Tell us how it plays.

electricmind (wall)    Chicgo, IL   uranus transit conjunct my moon go BOOM!

    I've got several double whammies.

    I'm Capricorn rising/ Saturn in the 10th.

Venus in Capricorn/ Libra on the Midheaven.

Mars in Scorpio in the 10th/ Pluto conjunct Midheaven.

Moon in Aries/ IC in Aries

There are more but those are the top 3.

I would say I'm power hungry, but I do like to be in control. I have always willingly or by circumstance taken on the leadership position in everything I am involved in. Was difficult when I was younger. And still a bit difficult now. I am always confronted with people who don't understand how I am so young (27) yet wise, in a very Capricorn way. You know, foresight, vision, practical etc.

With this Pluto conjunct ascendant transit, I am learning to accept my power and use it with integrity in every are of my life.

Mercury in Libra and Venus in the 3rd. In Virgo. I just discovered this one (literally this minute) so I'm not sure how it plays out. But I'll think about it. LOL

I had entirely discounted my Mercury as a non-player until Saturn conjuncted it last year and shit started happening. And it's going to hit it again soon. I'll think about the double whammy this time around.

Aren't mutual receptions considered double whammies by definition?

Say you have Venus in Aries and Mars in Libra.  Is that a double whammy or is that something else?

Do arabic parts and asteroids count? Because I have:

Venus in 4th, Pallas in Taurus
Jupiter in 9th, Part of Fortune in Sagittarius
Saturn in 4th, Chiron in Cancer, Cancer Midheaven

I'm not sure if this counts, but I have Sun exactly conjunct Mercury and they're in the 3rd house. Tons of Mercury energy going on there. It plays out in that I love to talk, analyze information of all sorts, learn my locale and such. I move around a ton - meaning places I've lived and also that I am always on the go. If I don't keep up to date on information I get restless. I'm bored easily and my attention flies every which way. But I'm still a Cancer Sun in spite of all that!

@bellenoire That's a good question. I don't think asteroids and parts of fortune traditionally have rulerships and also don't the asteroids and parts of fortune say slightly different things than the planets?

Haha, I am thinking I don't have a double whammy. I have a couple of planets in the natural houses of each other (Venus in 11 and Uranus in 7), but that's it. I don't think that counts. I don't have any other fun connections, so I just have lots of single whammies I believe. :)

It's definitely a need for freedom in relationships at bare minimum.  Clingy types would probably make you go "eeeewwww".

Elsa pointed it out in a consult, otherwise I never would've had a clue...LOL

    Venus in the 11th house
    Venus square Uranus

It's a conundrum at the moment. I feel at odds with my core 'self'. Used to be in an open relationship, but that changed. My life is changing, can't wait to get out to the other side of this quagmire.

Oo I've got a better one, Mercury in Capricorn, Saturn conjunct Mercury, Saturn in the 6th, Capricorn in the 6th house. WHOA! Quadruple Whammy :D

It seems obvious to me now why I am so quiet. Let ANYONE complain about this to me again, I will bite their heads off. lol. Kidding, mostly..

    Yes, that counts music4am!

I just remembered today that one of them is Jupiter in the 6th, and Virgo on the 9th house cusp. It plays a major part of needing to provide service in some way.

Ya mostly Neptune in sag and jupiter in pisces but my whole chart relates back to neptune and jupiter. I'm buoyant beyond words. No earth. I'm working for the army in media.. what is this death you speak of? It's all just stories to me. Pluto is in cap and scorp rules my 2nd. They pay the bills. Before this for 15 years broadcasting paid the bills with pluto in sag. I liked that but that was like being drunk 24/7 for 15 years. :) Now it's more like swimming in a pool and not going out too far. Calmer.

I feel like I have almost everything in my chart wrapped together. Leo asc, 5th house Sun (opposite Leo jupiter), Saturn and Mercury in mutual reception AND trine one another, Virgo moon trine Mercury, Virgo moon conj. Saturn and trine Cap Sun. It's like the Cap, Leo, and Virgo energies are just one continuous circle for me.

eta: uranus in libra and venus in my 11th house and I think that's all I could find.  That was like a fun little puzzle right there smiley  Now off to figure out what it means.

    I have a triple, maybe quadruple+, whammy in Libra-Scorp/Venus-Pluto:

Libra Sun conjunct Pluto in Libra.  Venus in Scorpio.  Scorpio DSC (conjunct Venus).

I suppose some might count Mars in Libra, by co-rulership, and add some weight for my Scorpio Venus also being my chart ruler.

Between my Venus and my Pluto there is but a minor aspect: the semi-sextile, albeit at 0 degrees.
