Easter eats
posted 2 years ago in Food
I haven't made any food plans! I just don't want to eat too much junk. What you guys have got going sounds great =)
Last year I was really good AND I eeked out all my Easter eggs! Had the last of them melted on toast under the grill, cause I ran out of Nutella!
I usually put on a traditional Thanksgiving spread (turkey, dressing, etc.) but with potato salad, deviled eggs and a coconut rabbit cake instead of pumpkin or pecan pie. Easter is coming so late this year, it may be warm enough for us to eat outside on the picnic table. That will make it nice for the kids' easter-egg hunt!
Easter?? Hmmm, forgot it exists now that the bunny doesn't visit. I do pagan holidays, though, and already celebrated the equinox last month with stuffed grape leaves and fresh bread and soup and a raw cake shaped like an anteater, lol.
But now that you mention it, deviled eggs sounds good!!
(And carrot cake is also a great idea, for the easter theme btw)
And vegetarian sushi. for no reason, just craving it.
Grandma always made the same dinner for Easter , Thanksgiving , and Christmas. Only the desserts were different (almost).
Easter.... Birds Nest. Fudge made up the nest , Jelly Beans were the eggs. I'm not crazy about fudge , but my siblings love it..... more power to them.
Thanksgiving.... Pecan Pie & Pumpkin Pie.
Christmas.... same as Thanksgiving , but had a bowl of Old Fashion Hard Candy (big bowl , not individual).
I used to make this bunny salad when I was little. It was in this Betty Crocker kid's cookbook I had:

I am sooo making it for Easter this year.

the bunny salad is too cute!
My friend took a pic of the anteater cake. Will try to post if I can. If I do, ignore the F.U. on it's chest (yes, it stands for what you might think, but it was in good spirits)

I just found out I DO have to celebrate Easter. My SO's family does, but they only do "brunch" (dinner food at 9 am on a Sunday - gah, so weird! and too early for me. doh!)
not used to this family shit, since mine is dysfunctional, lol. It all just seems surreal to me, as "my" family mostly just doesn't speak to each other for the most part...
still loving those bunnies!
