Do you think a natal chart can tell whether or not someone will cheat? Or do you believe it's free will?

I believe it's 70% your chart to be honest. And 30% free will. Some might think the 70% is too much, but it's okay if their opinion is different!

I think it's 100% choice. Always. :) Even though a chart might show whether or not it's something someone struggles with amongst other things. I think a natal chart cannot be held responsible for or determine individual choices.

But I think it's interesting how much people who follow astrology in general believe that it determines faithfulness.

Okay I change it to 60% your chart and 40% your free will. But I stand that it's mostly a person's personality.

Tendencies to cheat, yes, but otherwise it's kind of a freewill thing.

Charts show proclivities, tendencies, desires, etc.  So some people no doubt are more likely to cheat.

But what the individual actually chooses to do, the actions they take, are free will.

Blame the chart if you want. But it's the person who did it.

Different strokes for different folks. I think a chart can indicate whether a person is fitted for a monogomous relationship or not. If not - and self-aware people know this of themselves whether they are into astrology or not - they should make that clear to anyone they get involved with.

It's ONLY "cheating" if you are lying about it! that is, pretending to your partner that you are faithful while having sex with other people (or one other person).

At the risk of repeating myself, I very much dislike the way the word's used in the US fior any kind of alternative relationship, open relationship etc.

Do people use the word "cheat" to describe something unconventional? I must be more sheltered (in accepting circles) than I thought. In my world cheating = lying.

I think you can see a tendency to cheat in a chart but the person can over come this.  It comes down to choice in the end no matter how much a person's chart shows about stability.

I believe anyone can choose to be faithful no matter what the chart says.

kr, people here tend to use the word cheat very loosely, ie to describe ANY kind of scenario where someone has sex with anyone other than their partner.

I think it should only be used where there is actual deception and lying involved; but I'm a pedant!

ETA:  Annalisa I'm not sure that's true. And in any case I think it's far better for anyone who finds it next to impossible (eg my ex Man with his Aqua Moon and Gem Venus) to be upfront and open about who and what he is - which he is! - rather than pretending he's going to be faithful, or try to be faithful, and then failing

That makes two of us, I guess!

To my understanding of American culture we only use the word "cheat" if there is deception involved.  Otherwise it's an "open" relationship and what 2 (or more) consenting adults agree upon is nobody's business but their own. 

As to chart involvement, like anything else in can show strong leanings/inclinations but you're not powerless over your chart.  The energy is YOURS - own it, because it's up to you how you direct it.

My chart could say I'm likely to be a lying sack of shit, but if I actively strive not to be a liar well then what my chart says is moot because I don't want to be that and am going to martial all my resources to make sure I'm not.  I might have to fight the urge to fudge things and be less than forthcoming moreso than someone without those kinds of chart signatures, but ultimately I am the commander of the ship. 

If you're aware of the "default" inclinations within yourself (whether this be through astrology, psychology, or some other tool) you are better able to direct the ship in the direction you want it to go in vs. someone who has little/no self-awareness.  You can't change what you don't know/acknowledge - that's the 1st step.  If you don't self-examine your behavior, how can you possibly be motivated to change it?

Still stand by that it's 60% a person's chart. I respect all y'alls opinions though.

I'm in the 100% choice camp.  Your chart shows what materials you're working with, but your choices shape them.

I believe the same for fidelity, infidelity, or any other decisions.  My parents have been married for 40 years because every day they choose to be together.  I have been divorced for 12 because I chose not to live in an unhealthy relationship that couldn't be saved.  (I also tried for almost 5 years to save it, and that was my choice, too.)  

And yes, FieryTaurus, I respect your opinion as well.  I love that we can disagree respectfully here at the Double E Bar and Grill. 

I've got a firmly internal locus of control, man:  cheating (or anything else) is a choice we make as individuals, even though our charts can show a tendency in that direction.

I've got plenty of shit in my chart that shows I'm supposed to be a mass murderer.  Ain't killed no one yet.  ;)  Not that I don't think about it and sometimes itch for it, but I keep myself in check because that's not who I want to be.  Same diff, to me.

It's found in the synastry between two people.

Of course ALL signs cheat.....but....beware of the Scorpio....that D@mn stinger. ;)

The human nature, man / woman, is NOT annotated nor dictated by the universe; we just read into what we see. We, humans, are energy and flow with the universe as random & chaotic as it is.
