Of course there are some who are going to see this as a way to enlarge what they've got but the focus of the article seems to be on repairing damage or correcting congenital defects.  I wonder if they would use this technology for sex change operations as well.

I think this would be intended for transsexuals. I do feel sorry for them because MtF can, except for babies, get all of the equipment, while FtM's are still technically women down below (unless they get a useless penis made). That's got to screw with your head. A friend of mine does want to be male (at least somewhat, I don't quite think she is 100% enough), but doesn't see the point in fully transitioning unless she can get a dick,and I don't blame her.

@jenfullmoon from what I've read, plastic surgeons are getting better and better at constructing penises from non-penile tissue, but there's still the issue of erections or the lack thereof.  (Biological men aren't the only ones who have that problem ) What little I've seen suggests that the ones that work have pumps or something similar to them, which might be a little artificial but damn ... better than strapping one on, I'd think?  I dunno.  I'm sort of fascinated by transgenderism (if that's the right word) in regard to the social and psychological aspects of it.

I have no idea what to say.  I'm torn.

Yay for people with defects or trauma, yay for FtM transgenders (although I suspect that will be a hard-fought battle).  But you know it's going to be corrupted for cosmetic reasons and I'm more than slightly peeved about the "severe erectile dysfunction" sufferers.  Hmmmmph!
