"Beware, there is a skirt with watermelons on it at Anthro, that's just WRONG..."

    So says my sister.

What other misguided fashion do you see out there?

Wouldn't put it past him to wear a watermelon skirt either! He's done the lot... and still looks damned good! Not fair!

I want it.  but I won't, I won't.  this is something I would absolutely have worn when I was younger.  FOR SURE.  I'm sure your sister was warning for those who didn't want to look ridiculous.  I am sometimes shooting for silly.

ha ha ha, Miss!  My sister is judgmental but funnily so. Capricorn damnit!

I hear it is supposed be sublime but if you have Capriciorn rising you are not going to put fruit on your ass and walk around.  We have the wrong personalities for this skirt, I'd say.

Fruity ass - comin' up!! :)

I bought lingerie with Venus in retrograde, ahh!  It's not even red.  Do you guys think it will be bad/I will never wear it again?

Hey Jilly, Love it!!!   I love those wrap style dresses.

Clothing that makes people look pregnant needs to go out of fashion like empire waists for girls that aren't thin, those beach tube dresses made out of terry cloth.  There is lots of clothing discrimination against fat and otherwise plus-sized people.  I love the fashion forward way that people like stitchtowhere dress http://www.flickr.com/photos/stitchtowhere/

    Hey now, Dinah

Some pear-shaped people (courgh) are grateful for empire waisted stuff. There just needs to be more variety in fashion. A little something for everyone.

Right now, the very thing that I feel is WRONG is when girls (whether or not they have a great body) are wearing leggings like they are PANTS! Like COME ON!!!! Leggings are NOT pants! Your crotch area is meant to be covered! Good Lord... i see this all the time... Oh and FOOTLESS TIGHTS are NOT THE SAME as leggings. I see MANY girls around here that wear footless tights with a short top and their underwear peeking through. Yikes! it looks trashy!

I have nothing against gold or silver lame leggings. Or black ones that look like leather (in fact, I want a pair. I'm a huge leggings-wearer).. But PLEASE COVER YOUR BUM!

Ok I'm done ranting :P Go ahead and shoot me ;)

Beth, my favorite is when people wear a dress with a belt that creates a waist.  Or a jacket and a sundress.  Belted dresses are way better than empire waists to me.  Empire waists tend to make people look pregnant when they don't know how to wear them.  Just my opinion.  Another of my favorite plus sized fashionistas is http://bigbeauty.over-blog.com/  Plus being pear-shaped is cool, I am a different shape and can really appreciate it.

You're right, Dina, belted dresses are very flattering. I actually had a certain kind of romantic empire dress in mind, not a tent-over-jeans look. Nice site!

Lunalie: Complete agreement. I've never seen anyone dress like that, but Gah!

haha. This thread reminds me of a great toothpaste for dinner comic

course i love good fashion, but there's some pretty odd-looking stuff out there.. like the hat-bag by Isaac Mizrahi... an example of really having "gone too far"  :

    Lunalie

    jo:

that could've looked a lot better without the hatbag! Yikes!

jo....!! ha ha ha ha hahahahhah!!!! thanks for the boost.

See I'd totally go for a guy in gold pants if he was built like a tank. Something weirdly hot about huge burly men in skirts. maybe this is the roman empire effect?

well, if she took the handles off that bag it wouldn't be all that bad...and the purple scarf is ok too, but that's it...she should have stopped there...just the hat w/out the handles and that purple scarf like a sarong.....the rest has got to go...

funny kashmiri...i'd take a middle size bloke in those gold pants...hee hee

    kash:

for some odd reason I have a thing for toned men in skirts (or kilts or roman tunics). I'm not sure what it is, but for me, I like seeing men's legs. I often think it's rare to see nice muscular legs on men... I guess I lucked out with my man ;)

But I would NOT want him in gold pants... No waaaaay.. -_- I wouldn't even be caught dead wearing metallic pants!

i think the green bag hat is just such an interesting concept statement- you know, women carrying their goods/wares or 'necessities' (water/food) on their head- as they used to in tribes- when they had to... Now, we as women choose to carry our 'necessities' in big ass bags...the bags just keep getting bigger as our list of what we consider necessary... so maybe we need to rethink what we need...

cap rising would NEVER were fruit on my ass or another other part of my body!

aml I agree bags are ridiculously big. i am not into baggage, ha ha. i am a pocket gal all the way. i just dig my taxes and it required a day's digging through multiple pockets/bags/inserts/envelopes/drawers...I have one purse that can fit one book or journal, a pen, my wallet and my bike lock and that's it. I hate feeling weighed down. Lunalie: thighs of steel. I got lucky too. ha ha!

Speaking of men in skirts I saw a guy today in a green plaid kilt, combat boots walking a toy poodle, LMAO  I wanted to take a pic 'cause I thought no one would believe me,lol. I was at work and the other gals saw too, he let his dog take a poo and left it. If I didn't have a client I might have thrown it and him and said " Hey you forgot something!!" har har har.

    Kash:

My boyfriend has thighs of steel because he's ALWAYS on his bike! I remember you used to work as a bike messenger, right? I, myself got these thighs from years in my childhood of biking. And I'm damn proud of them because Asian girls don't always get thick strong thighs like these ;)

But yes... I think cyclists in general have sexy bodies - but that's just me... Maybe because I'm a thigh girl - in both men and women!

    Miss:

    You should've done it!!!

jo, that lady with the purse on her head looks like my 2-year-old granddaughter dressed her.  The song 'She's Come Undone' is floating through my mind now.
