I like to make broad generalisations in astrology because I find they are usually accurate to a greater or lesser degree.

    Neptune on the descendant-a dissappearance

Mars in Gemini-a jerk, in Cancer-a storyteller, in Pisces-the military

    Jupiter in Gem-coaching or training

Saturn in Leo-energy conservation, recorded artifacts, Sat in Pisces-poverty and failure

Saturn on the M.C-a tramp (Charlie Chaplins chart showed this on the M.C for his career as a tramp)

    Neptune in Aquarius-diseases (in mundane)

    Some celebrities charts...

Alanis Morrisette-Chiron on the midheaven shows public wounds, criticising men, cathartic release of emotional hurt.

Madonna-2nd house Libra-gets money through the arts and enjoys it, Gemini midheaven-constantly transforming image, Sag I.C religious upbringing

Micheal Moore-Saturn opposition Sun-energy focussed into challenging authority

James Bond-Sun square Mars + Neptune in Libra-a suave goodlooking dashing fantasy man. Capricorn Sun/Virgo Moon-A featureless person, a tool of the state, a blunt instrument written in such as way that anyone could imagine themselves as him. Sun spetile Pluto-license to kill.

Oprah Winfrey-Sag rules ascendant housing moon-popular truths, Chiron in 1st-concern for others is part of her image

Bob Geldof-Uranus in 7th Cancer-rock shows to excite the masses, stellium in Libra and Neptne/Sun conjunct-high idealism.

Well my son has Mars in Gemini - he is no jerk.  He is one of the nicest people you could ever know - so that generalization makes no sense to me personally.  I guess that is the problem with generalizations!

Ya I think this just shows your bias and is a huge part of the problem with one aspect of 'studying astrology'.. one mans "jerk" is another one's entertainer. Tell me that my 12th house planets mean I'm crazy and in an asylum or institution. Please.. do try to tell me that.

    StarGirl,

Wow, while I don't know anything about the jerk comment, I'm really amazed and how good I found these little snippets of generalizations. You got right everything that I know about personally:

My grandfather with mars in Cancer. I've just thought that made him seem weak (he wasn't a fighter or very effective in his business career), but he was a storyteller. Boy, was he ever! Story after story, and all steeped in an incredibly deep knowledge of so much history. Much of it he lived, but lots he just remembered from reading about it (and he lived a century, so had a lot to weave together). He would entertainingly present these long non-fictional accounts of the past - events in astronomy, wars, empires, stories from his father, his own memories growing up, etc. History - much better than a textbook.

And you really got right (for me and those I've been observing closely, only, of course!) Jupiter in Gemini and Saturn in Pisces... Is there another way to express the Saturn in Pisces, maybe akin to the way Chaplin lived out being a tramp without really being a tramp? If you know the answer to this, please do tell.

Interesting. I'm not sure about the Jerk comment as I'm sure they have a positive traits too.

I have Mars in Cancer in 9th house. I'm obsessed with histories from the foreign land. I'm constantly reading books on Greek mythology, Roman civilization, French revolution, the Tudors of England and so on. I did my dissertation at uni on french revolution and the media relationship. The funny thing is I was doing a design degree! But my tutors loved it so I was able to carry on with it.

If I'm not reading I'm telling my friends about the stories I learned. My friends do enjoy my stories as I tell it with much enthusiasm with my gemini moon.

     Funny but interesting.

    Here's my take on it:

Yes, in general planet placements have a specific energy about them.

For example, I spoke about this when I said in one thread that the Gemini I know personally are outgoing, extroverted individuals. They're social creatures. Does this mean EVERY Gemini is going to be the same way? Of course not, let's be realistic.  But the majority are; that's what they're noted for - their ability to make and sustain that outside connection.

BUT, using such specific terms as "jerk"...that's not a "generalization". You can tell because the word "jerk" has a negative connotation. It's not netural; which all energies are until they're expended. That's a personal opinion rather than a generalization.

Maybe a more neutral word for whatever was intended by "jerk" might make the statment more general, as it was intended to be?

On another note, I fail to see how a Mars in Pisces is a military personality. Pisces avoids conflit. ARIES on the other hand, is best at war.

My gemini ex is a lively, other-people oriented individual, who, possibly due to his Capricorn moon and/or Taurus Venus, spends the bulk of his time either at work or being quiet and subdued and quite un-gemini-like, at home.

I withdraw the 'jerk' generalisation but it's the essence of what that placement can mean and because these are so general they might work better in mundane terms for example Mars in Gemini is a feature of the U.S.A birthchart.

It fits in that sense of talked up patriotism, how you can be an instant enemy if you say something unpatriotic, a nation of white collar executives who equate thinking to actually doing, giving no credit to the blue collar workers, blue-sky thinking, spin, T.V propaganda, soundbites like war on terror which is actually impossible, a war of words, workaholics with a sneer, yuppies, easily annoyed commutors, dropping the briefcase on a busy sky-scraper street like in the movies, yapping or arguing on phones in elevators or on a busy street.

It's basically, in a countries chart, gives more kudos to the suits and the jerk like madmen in their high-concept offices overlooking the city than it gives to the REAL workers, the ones who built it all, the ones doing the dirty work and those starbucks men will consider themselves breadwinners. Alternatively it could mean a land where there is such progress that what appears to be 'light labour' and 'thought as work' is actually a mark of a truly progressive country where toil is minimalised and people earn thousands for jingoism, media savvy and aggressive P.R skills.

I think the Mars in Cancer is in Stephen kings chart, it was definately in Shakespeares.
