When we were younger, my Taurus never treated if we went out together and in fact could be called a tightwad by some. We didn't have a committed relationship then, so it was neither here nor there to me. Also, he was broke.

These days, my Taurus shows more of his Leo rising and does sweet things like treat me to nice dinners (which I NEVER ask for - I would be just as happy with a home cooked meal, and we do have those too) and surprise me with little gifts. 

However, the frugal Taurean tendency does emerge now and then. One thing that he does that I find amusing is that if he owes me money, he pays me in cash on a night that we're going somewhere, then he doesn't bring his own cash. So he'll treat me to dinner on his credit card, but then if we end up out at a bar, I'm the one with the cash, see?

I don't have a problem with this arrangement at all - Libra is fair as fair can be. I just think it's funny because I always read about Taurus having a tight clutch on the purse strings.

Are you a Taurus? Do you penny pinch? Are you generous with family but more miserly with friends? Do you know any Tauruses? How are they with money?

I'm a Taurus Sun and Venus. I have Libra on the 2nd house cusp, Venus-ruled. To be honest I'm a little bit schizoid when it comes to money. Sometimes I'm very frugal and good at saving money, other times I'm a complete spendthrift (probably my Aries Moon doing that to me - when I get in the mood I'm an extremely impulsive - and nonstop - buyer).

When I was younger I think I was kind of afraid of being taken advantage of when it came to money. I'm much more laid-back about money now. I have some friends who offer to treat me many times and I often treat them as well so they're not always paying for me. I don't want to be the one taking advantage either. As for my family, I treat my mom all the time. My brother is Taurus Sun and Venus also - I felt kind of weird with him for awhile when it came to money. I don't know why. Maybe it's because he took some records of mine without asking me and sold them.  But in all seriousness somehow we got past that awkwardness. He often treats me to dinner or whatever and I do the same for him.

I have a friend, who as far as I know has no Taurus in her chart (don't know her rising sign though) who always asks for separate checks when we go out. She really worries to the penny that she pay enough, exactly the right amount and not too much. Whereas if I put in an extra dollar or two toward the bill it doesn't matter to me.

My best friend is a double taurus and deeply deepy generous-- to a fault maybe. She also has lotsa virgo (moon and also 6th house planets) so I think she serves by giving.

Hmm. Thinking of another generous taurus as well. I guess I don't associate them with frugality at all...

Funny but I always thought that Venus in Taurus people always prefer to spend on their own luxury and less on others'.  They expect other to spend for them though.

Any same observation? 

I'm Taurus Sun and Rising and I'm very generous with both friends and family. I tend to be more frugal with myself. For instance, I buy my clothes at the thrift store - have for years. But I buy new things for my children and grandchildren. If someone admires something I have, I usually give it to them if I can. I always spend way more on Christmas and birthdays than my SO or my family. My Cancer Sun  Leo rising SO is more frugal than I am.

That said, I'm not a shopper. I don't buy a lot. I spend my money carefully. I have money in the bank for the first time in my life (at 61). I've been unemployed since July 2008, but I'm doing well because I don't have debt and don't live lavishly. I've supported myself in my own home now for sixteen years. I can't wait till it's paid off!!

My SO and I both have Sun square Saturn so that probably overrides other influences. We were both born old and responsible - hahaha.

My best friend is also a Taurus. She's really good at sniffing out a bargain. She buys nice/expensive things, but always manages to get a deal. I've learned some tricks from her, like shopping for holiday things at the end of the season, when it's 50, 60 and 70% off. She uses high end skincare items but gets them in bulk year-round, so she pays much less.

My little sister is a Taurus sun, Gemini Moon, Cancer rising...everyone in the family calls her the tight wad. She will rarely spend money on anyone other than herself. She will however, say she wants to go all out for you, but doesn't have enough money at the time. The road to hell is paved with good intentions...? Haha.  

Yes, does ring true, persian cat and others: my double taurus friend has told me (and I just remembered this) that it took her a long time, a lifetime, to learn to give to others (not just herself) -- that she has worked on herself to become this way. Not sure how I forgot this detail!

I have a very good Taurus moon friend.   One time I went to her house and she said "Hey, I bought us a muffin mix to make."  I thought it odd because she never buys mixes.  I opened the cabinet and sure enough there was a bright orange "managers special" price tag.  39 cents.  Typical.

She gave me a tomato for my birthday.  It was a really good tomato.

I have two Taurus sisters.  One of them used to go through money like water, lavishing people with gifts, and those days are over, she has to live much more frugally now.  The other one also used to enjoy spending money, she loved her diamonds (April birthday)!, but her circumstances have also changed - mostly the same financial problems everyone else has.  I have to say that the both of them do seem able to come up with a stash they have stored somewhere when push comes to shove.

"She gave me a tomato for my birthday.  It was a really good tomato."  hahahahahaaaa!. you have really funny friends, notatirem.

Taurus Sun, Aries Venus. I'm generous to a fault. You know those cheap-ass motherfuckers who never leave enough money on their share of a bill? I pay that. 

I like to spend money when I have it, but I can be frugal when the cash flow is low. But I don't like anyone thinking I'm cheap. It's one of the worst things you could call me actually (Jupiter ruled chart). I'm terrible at keeping track of things. I looked after a friend's child for a weekend while she went away for work, and her union paid for me to do so. Weeks later when she showed up with $400 I couldn't figure out for the life of me why it was being given to me. 

One of my sisters is a Taurus with Cancer Venus and she is very generous. 

My Dad has Moon in Taurus and he spends very little, but he is generous. When he was a bachelor, the first thing he did was donate $20 from his pay cheque to the Children's Hospital. 

I have a Taurus Moon (5th house) and Capricorn Venus (1st house)...  I was talking the other day about a Christmas gift I bought my mom last year.  One of those nice coffee makers a Keurig... It was around $200 and some of my co workers were like "WHAAAT?!"  But, I will spend anything on those I love and I only want them to have the best.  Just like what I give myself.  But I'd rather spend money on them than myself.  I can sometimes take it overboard spending (Sag Sun) but most of the time I don't.  Capricorn is on my 2nd house... So I watch my money.  But when I do decide to spend... Better hope you're on my gift list ;)  I love to spoil my "true few."
