Wyrdling, my advice isn't astrological----just picking up on your desire to give yourself a present. Whether you wait until the rx is over or not, and whether it's in the form of a haircut or not, I say go for it. A big, wonderful, over-the-top and just-for-you present! :)
I've been dying to get a haircut, my hair looks like crap right now... but... I'm waiting two more weeks.
I am experimenting and made an appointment for the 17th during the station. I plan to sit in the hari salon all day.
Wyrdling- Hi. I'm not sure what kind of advice you want but i think this is what you are asking.
Who to look for? Well- look for the best. Since its not something you do often, I'd ask people who's hair you think has that 'polished' look you like where they get their hair cuts . You can also call places and ask: Who in your Salon gives the best haircut. I find some are better at cuts, some at color - rarely on person is good at both but my guy now is great (Norwegian father of 3).
You can meet that person first for a consultation--- ask the stylist what they 'would' do based on your hair and after you interview a bunch, you can make your final decision and then book your appointment.
You can take pictures from magazines you like with you and ask the stylist if they think your hair is suitable for that type of style
Whatever you do, don't just arrive there without some ideas in mind or tell the stylist - you decide.
I'd go a few places- spend a little time on this project . Sit in some salons and get the vibe- look at the heads coming out. Try to have some FUN with it. It's a treat. It's supposed to make you feel good.
I wouldn't wait to start to do my research. I've had 'cosmetic procedures' during the rx. The astrology is just extra information to help us. What we do with it, is up to us.
Good luck
MZS
Eh, I thought "go for it" and then I just read you have Venus Rx natally, so what the hey? even more so.
Look at it this way, maybe when Venus goes direct you'll have a chance to re-do or update it if you don't like it.
..and it was a good thing.
i think hitting it in the libra full moon really helped.
and pulled my pluto in on it. er. and with it my natal venus...
anywho, it's been extraordinarily liberating. oddly enough. and the person in the mirror matches my idea of who i am a whole lot more.
weird, huh?
ps MzScarlett thanks for the advice- the pictures really helped communicate what i wanted...
wyrdling:
I got my haircut while Venus was in retrograde, although it's not highly drastic yet very noticeable. I have very short, pixie cut hair that I've been sporting since November last year so it's nothing new... Very Aries in terms of haircuts if you ask me ;)
First thing's first about haircuts: Know thyself. What's your lifestyle like? Are you (like me) too lazy to do hair, or are you the type to carefully make sure you look very polished? Since you're an Aries like me, you're likely a "get up and go" kind of person, right?
Also - what do you feel "sexiest" in? If you want to keep your long locks because you feel sexy with long hair, I suggest to stick with long hair. If you want a change and go short, then go short. Make sure you research some looks you want to try out - either online or in a few hair magazines. Make sure you take this to your stylist.
Second thing: Get a GREAT stylist. A great stylist will know what kind of cuts look good with your face shape and your lifestyle. A great stylist will CARE about his/her work, and ensure that the client is happy. This keeps the client coming back for more ;) I've been with my stylist for two years now and I'm pretty happy with what he does on my hair, to the point where I don't even research my looks and I just trust him to cut my hair however he wants ;) I always like what he does for me!
I hope this helps!
go with your gut if it tells you it's time! i've made major hair changes during the last two venus rx's...from blonde to brown and back again. but mzscarlett's advice is good -- do your research. i've been with a stylist i trust for the past two hair changes so i knew that even if the result was shocking to me (which the darkening was!), it wouldn't be objectively bad.
i just went light again about two weeks ago and i'm loving it. (no natal venus rx here) the rx did cross my mind and give me pause, but i went ahead anyway and i'm glad i did.
I will second everyone on the "FIND A GREAT STYLIST" part. I completed cosmetology school, and I promise you, it's not that hard to get certified. There are some folks I went to school with that probably should have never held scissors in their hand!! (No offense to them)
Find someone experienced with a good rep.
I say go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm currently in cosmetology school myself and you're sooo right about that: it's not hard to get certified at all!
But yeah there are some stylists that actually CARE and others that are halfassed about it.

please forgive the clueless aries...
ok, spring break is over, all these kiddos (well, thirteen year old girls) are coming back with new haircuts. very aries inspired, it seems, not surprising... but... there's a ton of them. wondering how that fits with the Rx... the sudden rush to change style... freshen things up...
i'd planned on getting one, myself, but scheduling intervened. or i chickened out. it's been seven years since i paid someone to cut my hair and before that, never...
but i could really use some polish. really really. i know nothing about polish and don't have the first clue what to look for or who to trust with sharp objects near my head. (when i let my sister... oh my goodness, i had to fix that myself and ended up looking like shirly temple for the last several years of high school... not good for attempting to come across as adult...) and i'm wondering if ishoudl wait for the Rx to be over or go ahead and give myself a present...
i have venus retrograde in aries natally, after all... (opposing pluto in libra, so, yeah, i have libra, but...) (and a saturn leo trine. and a foggy neptune sag trine. which help me be both clueless and deprived :P)
