I'm not afraid of it. It's out there cooking/mutating away so who knows what will happen this fall/winter.

I got paranoid for a bit when it really hit the news. Bought tons of that hand sanitizer since I'm always on public transportation and there were schools closed and deaths in my area -- and then it disappeared from the news or I stopped watching the news or both--

I think it is the media trying to scare the shit out of us. People die of the "regular" flu every year, do they ever do a swab when you have the flu/? No they just say sorry go home rest and drink lots of fluids let it run its course. Do they call that a pandemic? no

Don't know if it is engineered but I'd put nothing past big corps, even governments. Have seen things indicating it is, and it would not surprise me at all, but I take everything with a grain of salt nowadays.

They would have to physically restrain me at gunpoint in order to vaccinate me, and then I'd struggle to the death.

What do I think the end result is - more of the same, hype and fear. No pandemic, except the imaginary ones they report.

Am I afraid - no more than usual. I have some pretty kick ass tools in my belt. Against illness at least, especially viral ones.

I think this is genetically engineered and is intended for population  control/thinning the herd. "They" have been trying to get this pandemic going for about a year now and it keeps fizzling out.

I suspect the pandemic will get a proper lift off this fall. 

Keeping people in fear is a way of keeping them under the thumb. I WOULD NOT GET THE VACCINE AS IT IS ANOTHER PLOY AND COULD AFFECT YOUR OVERALL HEALTH.  I don't trust the Gov/or the CDC on the safety of the vaccine. Think twice before you take it. Boost your immune system with herbs/vitamins and taking really good care of yourself. Take precautions, wear a mask and keep your hands super clean. Avoid crowds if you can. The Government is out to get you.

One afternoon in the early 90s I watched a plane make a weird grid design in the sky with that stuff.

This flu is apparently a very common one for which most people actually carry immunity already, so it's the younger folk who are most at risk and certainly in our country there has been a move to vaccinate the kids, and few of us would hesitate to do that (if expertly advised). However the antivirals have been harming not helping the kids, allegedly, some very public cases. A very close friend of ours is a doctor who works for World Health Organisation monitoring flu. He's very reassuring on the issue of H1N1.  Isn't is incredible, how mass panic can line some pockets, but potentially paralyse an economy.

The last swine flu in the 70's killed one person - the vaccine killed 25 before it was taken off the market. I never get a flu shot and I never will. It is proven to increase incidence of Guilllian Barre Syndrome. The same people who refuse to give their children aspirin will get them immunized. There are just too many questions unanswered. Stay healthy, wash your hands, and remember we are much more medically advanced and nutritionally intelligent than we were in 1918.

all last year the were crying WOLF! and everyone came running, everyone bought echanasia and vitimins etc. they said it could be a huge epidemic but it was a dud. This has been a huge disservice to everyone. We saw the complacency with wich they addressed the AIDs virus, letting Millions die, From 1981 to 2006, AIDS killed more than 25 million people.

Do NOT trust the government for a second! I never smoked a day in my life and have COPD! How did I get it? Probably from one of those planes. I've seen plenty of those mysterious skywriters over the years growing up--probably breathed in all kinds of toxins!

I was just talking to my banker from Uzbekistan today saying how only people who grew up in the former Soviet countries truly know exactly what is going on. So many Americans have been totally duped! It's actually the people in my demographic with Masters degrees or more who are the most fooled! Really pathetic--all of them. I cannot wait to finally get out of here. So tragic to see our country lost to people with their heads in the sand and all this massive corruption and absolute fascism!

Many illnesses have emotional factors behind it. For example people that get VD usually have a guilt complex over their sexual behavior. Some people just don't get VD because of their emotional attitude over their sexuality.  For more info on this read "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise Hay. She has a whole chapter dedicated to emotions behind certain illnesses. Very interesting. You do have some power of your health.

The reason I'm bringing this up is that the emotional components behind influenza are anxiety and fear. Needless to say this country is brimming with anxiety & fear right now which makes it ripe for a influenza epidemic. The military announced today that they are making swine flu shots mandatory for all people in the military. WHAT A DISASTER that's going to be! On the upside who is going to march off to war while they themselves are battling a botched flu shot? This shot is going to have complications that are far reaching. Just what this country needs! Talk about adding insult to injury!

I think the threat of getting swine flu is very real. However, for most of us, it's going to seem like a bad cold. that's it!

I have a friend who is a doctor who mentions that the 'test' only correctly diagnoses Swine flu 40% of the time. He says the biggest problem is HYSTERIA; so calm down folks,

Besides boosting your immune system with herbs and vitamin c another great defense is saline nose spray. It kills germs in your sinus passages and keeps your sinus from drying out which allows germs to get in via the nose. I have also stopped a cold by swabbing my nose with vodka on a q-tip. This is a Cayce remedy and it worked. Winter air is very drying so I keep a window cracked while I sleep and just pile on extra blankets. The fresh air I get while sleeping seems to make a difference. The Swedes swear by this practice.

I really believe that if we not buy into the fear,  hysteria and practice good hygiene most of us will be fine. Fear affects your immune system. Nothing to fear but fear. 

I think there is a strain of something going around.  These strains come about as a result and consequence of the way we live in the world - against nature.

 Regarding this situation, I don't believe much I hear on the news about it.  I mean, I am not going to take their word for it.  Whatever is going on, the story is being told with some spin on it.  As for the vaccination, if I don't know what is in it and what it will do to my body (and how on earth could I?) then I don't feel confident taking it is in my best interest.  Since I can't trust the system I feel I am better off taking my chances without it.

One of the soldier's friends was diagnosed with swine flu today. He said they didn't do anything but look at him, no tests, nothing at all to distinguish H1NI from the regular flu, they just said he had it -  this was at the VA.

Er... I don't think he believed them.

Yeah, it's possible it was genetically engineered. They probably proliferate this stuff as part of their sneaky tests on the public. Maybe word leaked out that terrorists have been breeding Ebola or Smallpox or a new, deadly plague and they want to see how fast the new virus strains can spread and how quickly we can get them under control. So they develop this new swine flu and pressure everyone to go get tested for it so they can keep track of who gets it etc.

Oh, another thing. Someone was telling me about how a bunch of people went to the hospital for various reasons about 20 years ago and they decided to inject them with plutonium without telling them "to see what would happen." Years later the government was like "oh, by the way, we forgot to mention that we plugged you with plutonium years ago... so how are you doing?"

The public is definitely being manipulated and beyond belief.

I had the flu this summer and it may well have been this H1N1 strain - it was nasty. But I was fine after a week of staying in bed and a 2nd week of going really easy.

It's possible that it's genetically engineered. I also feel very strongly that it's being used as a distraction, as others have remarked.

There may be more than 1 motive but I do understand sales and marketing and the vendors of vaccines have taken a beating last 2 years. They wound up giving the flu shot away here - it just didn't sell.

 I imagine the drug co paying the gov't in one form or the other and in turn they scare the public and sell vaccines for them.  Big ol' contract...

However, I am two degrees of separation each from three different people who have died this fall from H1N1, and that's way more than I can say of any previous flu seasons.  I am having a near conniption right now because my son's lungs are so terrible (asthma), he had terrible pneumonia last spring, the injectable vaccine is hardly available, and SATURN IS ON HIS 29 VIRGO MOON.  Seriously, I haven't been sleeping over this.  Call me the pure victim of this hoax, and I'll believe you, but I am in fear for his safety.

I will try not to get on my soap box here.  Government/drug company manipulation, hum lets see.  In the 1950's the government released a bacteria into the air via airplane over the Bay area with Serratia marcescens, at that time it was thought to be harmless.  Well not to long after that a few people began to die from "something never seen before"  yes is was Serratia.  Oops!  Fast forward to 2001,  there were a few reported deaths of mennigitis, the source, Serratia.  I have known people who never smoked a day in their life who have died from lung cancer.  Unusual not collectively.  But here is the clincher,  Most of them grew up in the "Valley" and as children would play outside as the crop dusters, dusted.  Some of their mom's would make them come inside, as mom would be hanging wet bedsheets over the open windows to keep out the spray.   Me I am a child of "get under your desk, cover your eyes, and don't look at the blast"  As if that was going to save my bacon. LOL.  When TB was taking lives left and right it was soon noted that people who slept with their windows cracked at night had a lower incident of contracting TB, as the air was moist and circulating.  In microbiology 101 students are altering E. Coli DNA to glow under a blacklight.  DONT EAT THE MEAT IT GLOWS.  It is easy to insert a pGlo gene into the bacteria.  Airplane entrails?  Well coincidence or paranoia?  Those nice little planes, you know like the crop duster ones,  pulling the cute little reader boards behind them,  buy our suncreen or eat at Joe's,  funny they fly over beaches that usually end up being closed because of red tide.   I always say follow the money.  There are a few "financial" charts posted on various web sites regarding our economy.  Has anyone ever "charted" the major viruses and how they might cycle?  How about a synastry chart of the epidemics against the national debt,  the unemployment rate et al.  insurance company profits. Several years ago I tried to get a small pox vaccine,  my doctor laughed at me at told me the WHO says small pox no longer exists,  give me a break,   just because no one gets in anymore doesn't mean it doesn't exist.  It just means no one can catch it, but its still out there.   So there is my rant.   I try to remind myself, that sometimes it doesn't matter what we do,  or what we don't do,  when its our time, and our work is done,  we can go home.

It's interesting that the Prez and Mrs. Obama are going to let all other high risk groups that their turn at getting a shot and then they'll get theirs after everyone else is taken care of. HMMMMM very interesting. Seems like they know something.

I've been studying holistic health and mind/body connection for over 20 years. From my experience you can do lots to avoid getting sick besides the obvious.

Oregano Oil (high potency from the Mediterrian) caps will stop both viral and bacterial infections if caught early. Of course, the old standby GARLIC is another great one. Use in conjunction with each other. Oregano has been known to stop staph infections if used in time.

If you get vitamin C get the SUSTAINED RELEASE type. This stays in your system longer to do it's job. I get the 500 mg or 1,000 mg capsule (better at digesting). You can take large doses of this but drink lots of water to avoid kidney stones. Most of us are dehydrated anyhow. Also, a great multi/B complex (capsule) is great for keeping your overall foundation of health on par. (*I have no financial interests in the following vitamin companies), SOLGAR, NATURE'S PLUS, TWIN LABS make some of the best. If you get a liquid multi more power to the absorbtion rate, esp. if you have digestive problems. Try to get at least 50 mg. of B vitamins in these multi's, along with amino acids and minerals. Take the  multi in the morning, no latter then noon WITH FOOD (taking it later  will keep you up at night.) Try to relax and keep your stress levels in check, be grateful, do a kind deed when you can - all good for the immune system.

I read in two separate newspapers (different owners/publishers) yesterday with editorials saying "If you don't get the vaccine you are a selfish asshole" or something to the effect.

One of my co-workers has swine flu, and so do my roommates brother and his girlfriend. They're like: "I feel like shit, it's the flu."

I'm a fatalist. If I'm meant to die from a pandemic, then I will. But I will not take a vaccine. Hell I traveled to India with no shots and I never even got so much as a belly ache, so screwwwww it.

Thanks kashmiri - I have been making a point to get to bed earlier and I DO feel better for it.  I am whipping myself up into a frenzy mostly in the name of my kid, but I was relieved to hear his allergist say today that he was seeing some mild swine flu cases (yay), however, he did agree wtih me how scary the secondary infections are, (i.e., pneumonia like my son gets at the drop of a hat).

Jessica:  i have asthma as well as i started taking a combo of Vit C, Quercetin with Bromelain.These are high doses of natural antihistimines. Have not used my inhaler in ages and i've stopped using Benedryl when I start having a reaction.  

I read somewhere (I don't remember where, so maybe the source isn't good) that 65,000 people die from the regular flu every year. That's a lot of people, but there isn't this major freak out over it.

That being said, I know several people with infants and some immune compromised people, and for them, it IS a worry.

Update: We got up at the crack of dawn on Halloween to go to the free Chicago clinic (with 1000 others), and I got him his shot.  It feels a little bit like it may have been a tempest in a teapot, but with his underlying health issue I sure do feel relieved that we got this taken care of.  Now to see what next year brings....
