Wow, this is very dangerous for me considering my fear of saying the wrong thing, being repulsive, etcetera. I was just wondering if other people with hard aspects to Mercury also have a hard time posting or when they do, it comes out all wrong?

I have Mercury in the 12th and I have trouble getting people to listen to me. I have to tell them the same thing repeatedly.

Yesterday at work I had to tell my coworkers 6 times that the office manager's email was different from ours and that you had to have a password to check it (she's on vacation).

They finally got tired of looking and actually listened to what I said. They weren't being disrespectful, they even apologized, this is just my life. IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING!

My mercury is okay natally (a square to jupiter but I don't see that as a baaaad thing)--

But I think it's totally normal to post stuff on a public board and feel nervous about it.

I mean, who knows what kind of response you'll get! A few times I posted what I thought were innocuous things and I got weird hostile replies. So really you never know--
    Internet is weird that way.

But that's a chance you take I guess being part of a community, which this is. You just kinda hope most people "get" what you mean and that they are sensitive even if they don't. I have a Cancer sun so sensitivity is always high on my list. As well, I hate being misunderstood.

A hard aspected mercury could, instead, make your thinking screwy. You may express yourself totally fine but for some reason think it's all wrong (mercury in aspect to saturn?)

Don't worry, turtle... After all, you're a turtle! :) Posting IS sticking your neck out, but it's okay.

Yes, at times it's tough getting my point across in general. I can be very particular.

Do you have hard aspects to Mercury in your birthchart or are these transits you're talking about?

Mercury conjunct Chiron opposing a Saturn-Uranus conjunction.

I can't really see why you think you're at risk of offending anyone !

turtle--I have Mercury (in Leo) sq. Uranus.  My postings ....well, I end up putting my foot in my mouth a lot, lol; but I am better at filtering/editing what I am intending to say.  But in real life (as in speaking), I often say hurtful things to the people I love (except my kiddies)....which I read is common with this aspect and I think with Merc in Leo it exacerbates my bark.  I'd love to learn how to break from that behavior because I HATE when I hurt people I love, but I rarely realize how hurtful I can be until after the fact.  Then I beat myself up some more.

What hard aspects do you have?  I'm trying to learn more about Mercury.

Tam--I experience the same phenomena!  I feel like people don't hear me, I often have to repeat myself too.  I also get cut off a whooooole lot!  To the point that when I speak I often pause periodically because it's like I'm waiting for someone to cut me off!

I'm one of the many Mars conjunct Mercury people  who hang with Elsa, queen of us all with her Libra Mars-Mercury. However, my Mercury is on the 12th house side of my ASC and exactly inconjunct Uranus so i can mix my words up sooo bad at times when speaking. Leaving phone messages can get really weird for me at times.

Being able to read over and edit my written commuincations is a whole lot more comfortable. Took me a long time to screw up my courage and start commenting online. I have an online usename and it's ended up like have a second identity. confusing . . .

oh, my mars-mercury conjunction is in Scorpio.

I have Mercury in Gemini as part of a t-square with Saturn in Pisces and Mars in Virgo.  I think being able to communicate online via email and later boards and online journals really helped me improve my communication.  I was able to pin it down and see it and correct the spelling errors before sending.  Of course I've made mistakes and pissed people off or been misunderstood but it is SO much easier for me to communicate well in text than in person.  I DO come across badly sometimes in person, particularly at work.

In fact sometimes when John (husband) and I need to sort something out we'll get on computers in different rooms and text back and forth until we understand one another.  It's been a great work around for my challenged chart.

On the other hand, Saturn in Virgo has had me erasing comments instead of posting and just generally keeping much quieter than I normally am.  I will be so glad when it moves on completely past my Virgo planets.

Oh wow, I was JUST thinking about this, wondering what was in my chart that makes me torture myself over everything I say. I have Mercury in the 7th opposing my moon in the 1st (part of a t-square), square Uranus in the 4th.

I don't worry about getting my point across, I worry about getting my point across TOO MUCH. I can be very foreceful, then later I regret everything I said. I worry about it way more than I should, maybe give myself too much credit (thinking people are analyzing what I said as much i do). I've made many posts and comments but I usually delete them because, you know, I think I tend to offend and hurt people. Also with the Mercury sq. Uranus, it's fun for me to push buttons and I am aware of this so I try to censor.

I'm with Lupa on this. If it were possible to communicate only in text, I would be all up on it. Glad I was born in a generationin which this is possible.

I have Mercury square Uranus/Pluto and I have hurt peoples feelings too Shell, but the good news is the older you get the less often it happens.

I've typed many posts too only to delete them as well.

    Hi

Thanks for all the responses...........yikes. Not sure about planets transiting my chart right now, but natally Mercury is in Gemini at the top of my chart, part of a Grand Cross with Saturn, Jupiter/Pluto conjuction, and Mars. I may be even a worse communicator in person right now, so I think this is a good format to learn to communicate better, at least you can retype if you catch it in time.

I enjoy reading the comments on the Coliseum, but my skill level for reading a chart is not at the level I would like it to be to make a lot of comments at this time.

    Thanks for the feedback!

I have mercury conjunct uranus in the 12th house so I am on a completely different wavelength to everyone else - fortunately my best friend has mercury trine uranus so we live in our own little world alot of the time - goofing off and dying with laughter!

I have Mercury conjunct my Sun in Capricorn, and both of them square Saturn and Jupiter natally.

I find I can't win for losing, I talk too much or not enough. I'm too loud except for when I mumble . . And I either have a big gigantic mouth or I'm secretive judgemental and sly . .

But! I do enjoy communication immensley and I've even gotten to the point where I enjoy the challenges associated with it. I just try and balance my desire to say nothing, and to tell it all . . and I try to stick to saying only things I can stand behind, cause while its fun to let my mouth ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun . . I do have to get up the next day and deal with the whole saturn side of 'OHMYGODICAN'TBELIEVEISAIDTHAT' when 'it' was something that I was just saying in order to be provocative. Especially when 'it' is something I can't bear to have the public think actually reflects my opinion . . Which may have changed since then. And may change again in a minute.

Mercury Square Uranus here as well.

I find so often I will say things to people only to later on think "why on earth did I say or tell them that?"

Also from what I've read, it seems to have something to do with my love of things and people that are 'different' in some way (basically like things that are 'away from the norm') and those that are somewhat eccentric.  I find that most people I come across I find to be so boring as they all like the same 'conventional' stuff and are completely closed-minded - which is why it's great to come across websites such as this

Mercury opposing Jupiter... But Mercury is in Pisces and Jupiter is in Virgo. There is some very good mutual reception that I can likely take advantage of.

Anonymous, it's ironic that you chose this moniker with a 12th house Mercury. :)

I have a 12th house Mercury, too, square Neptune.  Ugh.  It's a constant challenge to get my point across when I'm talking.  I can see what I mean, but there's a fog I have to get through to the other side.  Oh well.  It gets better if I concentrate more... even better when I write.

I can see what I mean, why can't everyone else?  Story of my life. *sigh*

I can just say that I´m veeery happy that the whole thing has progressed to discreet merc cap trine moon.

What a relief age sometimes brings!

I have Mercury conjunct Saturn (I think about 5 degrees) and tightly square Pluto. I've learned that some things are better left unsaid. As Mercury also rules the mind, I've also learned that I see the world through shit-colored glasses, and that while shit is true, it's not the whole truth. Perspective is really important to me.

Tam and Shell...thank you!  You just explained something very well for me, as the same thing happens to me at work. On a hunch I checked and my mercury (in gemini) is in the 12th house.

I'll chime in with a solution to whatever problem they're struggling with and no one *hears* me.  I know they know I said something, but it's as if they're prevented somehow from actually listening.  I also have a very soft voice from hearing loss (I can't hear my own audio level) so sometimes they actually *don't* hear me.

I have Mercury opposed Saturn, square Neptune.  I've always been the quiet one.  At various times in my life I have had a very very strong desire to go mute.  I have incredible insecurities about my speech, what I say, my mouth and jaw, my intelligence (or lack of), and also casual/social encounters with people that I don't know very well.  Sometimes it feels like the Mercury/Saturn aspect overrules absolutely EVERYTHING else in my chart, and it sucks.

Sometimes, though, I have a laconic sort of wit that may come from the same place...

lol...yeah.  the Libra parts of me (Asc, Sat, Jup) usually rehearses what I am going to say because I'm always worried about saying the wrong thing or offending someone.  Funny thing is -I'm sometimes taken wrong anyways.

    Mercury in Cancer 9th house

    sextile Taurus moon 8th

    semi square venus virgo 11th

trine uranus in Sco 2nd (very lose orb I think)

square pluto Libra in 1st/square libra asc.

I have Mercury conj Pluto in the twelfth house. It has taken me a long time since I started posting on here to get over being paranoid about what I post (and how others may interpret it) and I am also obsessive over my grammar and if I write a whole line or paragraph and one word goes over into the next line - ugh! It drives me nuts. But I'm also a Virgo Sun, with other planets in grammar lady Virgo too.

Being and having been a writer of all sorts, I'm interested in the Mercury influence in my life. A lot of the 12th / Pluto conjunct rings true to me. Apparently, 12th house Mercury is a sign common in a  lot of people like radio hosts - "hidden" but communicating. May also have debilitated communications - I am one of those people who for the longest time everyone had to ask to "speak up". Which is funny, because I am a tall, forceful looking gal with a 1st house Mars and always had the little voice in social situations. It still takes a lot of effort for me to speak up -- but if I do, I will come out with something insightful, or something that tells you off, or that seems completely off color and out of character -- usually sex-related.

Compensating for my shyness is pretty much why I became a writer, and most things I write- or want to write (as in, not what I get paid to write) are the kind of things that come straight from my Libra twelfth house via a Libra Merc - Pluto conjunction - sex, rage, abuse, control, redemption, transformation, romantc love, synchronicity, etc, all with a hint of dreaminess and transcendence. I basically have my own twisted and fantastical little world that is the inner workings of how I'd like to think life works. And there is no way in the world I could get this all out and explain it to others if I weren't hidden behind a computer screen or shielding myself with a pen and paper.

So that's my hard aspect. And now, I'll post this and go be paranoid about the line breaks and how it's all going to come across to everybody reading this - LOL.

    Haha, jul--no worries, ya nut!

I've got Mercury in Sag, conj. Neptune...

I like to try to keep some humor in my writing, even when the subject is serious.  That can't always be done, but the Sagittarius influence seems to help me make things amusing.  I'm working on a book of short stories to put out once I get my current series of books published, and the title alone displays my humor...but I can't reveal the title until I get it copyrighted...so you'll just have to wait for it.

The reason I like posting is because I can see what I said and then think about whether or not I want to post it. This is probably why so far I don't get into as much trouble posting online as I do speaking on the phone IRL.

Real life is where I have the issues (Sadge moon blabber). If someone pisses me off and I actually uh, let on that they did so, it's very hard to get out of that situation.

Though in general I come off as a tiny squeaking mouse when I object to things, apparently. Or at least I'm VERY easy to brush off and ignore even when I am screaming, somehow.

Mercury quincunx Uranus, opposite Pluto, trine Neptune, Saturn, and theoretically Mars (I disagree with astro.com on that one). You'd think I'd be a giant powermonger who squashes people, but it's quite the opposite.

    jenfullmoon,

    That's got to be frustrating!

Haha, I'd want to lose it, grab 'em by the collar, and yank 'em close, yelling in my Leo-Asc roar:  "Ya feelin' me NOW!?"  Then, headbutt 'em square in the nose and toss 'em on their ass...

Okay, maybe don't do that.  I have too many 'what if' scenarios that play out in my head when I want to react, similar to the scene in 'High Fidelity' where John Cusack beats the shit out of Tim Robbins character in the record store.  It takes the edge off, a little, and can be quite entertaining!   It also keeps me from ACTUALLY acting on it...
