How long does it take people to realize you're not your rising sign?

I have Pisces Rising and when people first meet me, they see me as shy, polite, diplomatic, and emotional.

But after about 2 or 3 weeks of hanging out with me most people realize that I am extremely wild and adventurous because of my Sun in Sagittarius. Sure, I still have my manners and I am still caring with others, but once you get to know me people are shocked that I am really actually the 'let the wind in your hair while you're driving your car type of guy'.

Does this happen to any of you? People get shocked once they get to know the real you?

Your rising sign can fool people can't it?

It never happens to me ;) I'm a double Aries (Sun and Ascendant) although I often do not feel like a prototypical Aries... But apparently, I exude Aries energy as I'm very energetic, enthusiastic, dynamic. I see myself as reserved and quiet!

This is a great question...People usually find me "weird", quiet and distant when they first meet me (Aquarius rising) but then, when I actually get to know the person, they see that I warm up easily and I can talk lots and lots as a Leo Sun. It is a little different because some of the traits are shared and overlap because of the polarity and both fixed.

I do have a visible Leo tattoo though (forearm), so if anyone knows what the glyphs look like then my cover is blown!

The strange thing is, I have noticed that since I am getting older I am acting more Aquarius than Leo. As a child I was pure Leo - loud, center of attention, spoiled, bossy - and there was no question about what my sign was, but now I am quite different and I see more of the Aquarius in myself than the Leo - eccentric, more impersonal. I was even thinking that maybe I should get a few waves along with my other tattoo!

Usually once the 'mystery' wears off and they realise I am a pretty ordinary human being.

I experience this mostly at work.  My attitude is that at work you are there to do just that... work!

Not that I'm not friendly, and I've made quite a few of what I would consider "close" friends at work, but I don't shoot the shit for its own sake and I find the people who are there bullshitting the day away socializing quite annoying.  I'm not trying to win any popularity contests ;)

    Taurus rising.

The people who are close to me though get to see my Aqua sun/Gemini Moon at work.  I can be quite out there in space/flighty/eccentric HAHA!

    Toni, this is such a point for me in this days;

I'm a leo rising, and I guess people get the feeling that I'm very good at what I do

teachers or bosses always ended up  telling me I could do better, but I'm a libra and I do not need to be the best all the time.

Other times I found people getting real scared when my scorpio mars comes out.

No one aspects a leo to be so cutting.

I was recently misunderstood in my intention and I realised how I do give the impression to be exactly what I look like, but the scorpio likes to hide, and not everyone likes that.

I'm Scorpio moon and ascendant with Gemini sun.  It doesn't matter what they figure out one day, the next day they might encounter the other side.  :)

I'm an Aries rising, but come off as quiet and tough to get to know sometimes.  Other times, I'm a non-stop talker.  I've got Neptune aspecting my Asc. as well as Jupiter.

I think I read somewhere that it takes two years!

I have this problem too. I have sun in aqu, rising sco and Neptune conj that, so job interviews are pure pain in arse! I never get the real me across, specially if they start to ask personal questions!

Then there the past experineces as well. If I have acted a certain way the last time and it was the mistake then I try so hard not to act (/answer) that way again and tehn I'm so stiff that it's yet an another mistake!

Sometimes I wish I could just be a watermark of the real me. I would get so much more ahead.

I guess people see me as angry or even violent eventhough I hate all touching and argueing: I Just won't do that!

    A good question!

I apparently don't come off as Scorpio rising at all. Must be the sweet wittle innocent Taurus baby face + Venus in Taurus (I hear if you have the two combined you really don't come off as your rising).

I have so much earth in my chart, that for the most part what you see is what you get. However....people don't realise that I have such a peculiar sense of humour. I think it must be the Venus/Uranus. Check out the Avatar.. just for you satori, in honour of business today...

tomaui, yes I hate how your rising sign can frustrate the person.

People can always have a need to 'feel sorry' for me since I look so innocent with Pisces Ascendant. And alot of people seem to feel the need to treat me like I'm incapable of independence, which really frustrates me since I'm at that age where I want to feel independent!

    Lynn,

I love Family Guy! Yes, most people don't think Earth signs have any humor at all.

LOL.  They never figure it out.  Scorpio rising is just a part of who I am and it never stops coming out.

Never, because my ruling planet, Mars, is conjunct the Sun.  (Aries rising, Sun/Mars in Leo)

I'm WYSIWYG with a huge 'tude.  Jupiter is exactly opposite the ASC.  People know that I'm a straight shooter, so they don't pull any of that "I'll be polite to this person, even though I hate their guts" stuff.

I've been told in the past that I scare people away and I always look mad and/or bitchy.  If you get beyond all the Mars to the Leo, I'm friendly, warm, and fun.  My husband says I make it my mission to go after people who've wronged me or who are jerks in general, and they don't like being hit by a sledgehammer.  Funny, I try to be nice (that's my Libra Moon), but the Mars and Jupiter always cancel that out.

one of my students told me she thought i was too "innocent" to like heavy metal. (virgo vs. aries, maybe???)

    wyrdling,

I have Pisces ascendant, but I also have Sun in Sagittarius and Mars in Aries, so I don't like being called 'innocent' when I am far from it!

Stellium Virgo, pisces moon, cancer venus with aries rising.  People think I am a type A B***h!  Until they get to know me.

obviously forever....from some responses to me on this site...people are looking at my picture and relating to that....I must change that....(smiles)

I prefer people relate to my rising sign.

When I start talking about joining the Red Cross upon retirement....one by one people would go for the main course, after a looonggg appetizer.

That's how long it took from my Leo Ascendant to Pisces Jupiter to play up.

So there was always a need to project a "dragon slayer" image when the corporate people are around.  Can't start talking about saving puppies or feeding Somalis...it goes against the "character" role.

    Elsa, very interesting.

persian_cat, You really are a Jup-Pisces type. I knew it when I read your writing!

And denamaria, Lol at your smiling picture. I have a problem with my image too where people think I'm "innocent" because of my Pisces Ascendant, but I'm aggressive and wild like a Sagittarius.

A long time. I've heard a lot of people thinking I'm an Aries. Only my Mars is there.

I don't display as much of my sensitive Pisces nature as I could in person. You have to get into my inner circle to see me there.  Online is different, there's anonymity there, which makes it safer to be who you are inside.

By-and-large, I present as my Leo Moon with Leo Rising, I just don't think a lot of the population is familiar enough with astrology to put a finger on it. They see the bold aggressive, "get 'er done" attitude and think Aries first.
