IPHONE or BLACKBERRY
posted 2 years ago in General
I just got a Samsung Vibrant and it rocks! I'm not an Apple-ite myself and the Blackberry never made me really want it but I decided on a whim to get a smartphone and heard so much awesomeness about the Android OS that I went for the Samsung.
I dislike blackberry, the tiny keys vex me mightily! Much prefer a touch screen, thanks.
I played with my cousins' droid and iphone while I was in CT, preferred the iphone to the droid. I may check out the vibrant, though, since I'm anti-apple just for the hipster vibe.
*lol @E*
Yeah, that! Your basic, no-frills phone.
I was actually going to pick one up -- all I wanted was to make and receive phone calls. But the sleek, shiny, sexeh, slim blackness of my LG (I think it's a Vu?) called me from across the room. :) Oh, well.
"Mom" in front of anything usually indicates frumpy or outmoded. (Mom phone, mom pants, mom couch.) Doesn't say much of what we think of mothers, huh? *half grin*
I try to upgrade but always end up with this phone... samsung because of 2 flaws in other phones. Either there is an edge that hits my cheek bone and is painful or the volume of both the ringer and the voice does not go high enough for a rock-and-roll deaf person like me.
As for accessing the internet on a phone, I have 0 need and so...
I will probably never have anything better than a 'mom phone'. I drop the dang things way too much! I can be a 'bull in a china shop' for sure.
But if I were to choose between the two, I'd go for the iPhone. For some reason, the Blackberry has never seemed appealing to me.
My mom actually has a different LG that's screamingly loud so she can hear it from behind the bar. I don't know about the comfort issue, but volume is no problem. :) There's also not a lot of frills off the bat, though you can find 'em if you want to.

A review, if you're interested.
i have a grandma then - it's a nokia 1100 which you can throw on the ground and it won't break - when i went to google the image came up with article that said some hackers are reportedly paying 32,000 for it because certain models can spoof other lines...ha! guess i better not take to throwing it around so much!!
I was waiting and waiting, frugal practical sort that I am, for an Android phone to be available on my cheapo plan-- just got the Epic and I LOVE it!! Super productivity and social and big space to read or text-- I was going to get the EVO which seemed awesome except it was touchscreen only and I do too much texting and email on my phone. So it has the slideout keyboard, and also screen if I want, plus the best-- everything voice enabled so I just talk or dictate texts or commands-- "find Stabucks Montclair NJ" and it pops up-- also I have it set to read my texts so it is just so cool. And it's really clear for the internet-- oh and I have RemembertheMilk on there so it tells me what errands I have to do when I'm out--
This kind of stuff is a dream come true for me-- I have a lot of Virgo and I LOVE efficiency!!!
jailbreaking is not just for installing un-approved software without the permission of control freak apple. not everyone who jailbreaks uses it for pirate software. jailbreaking iphone it also allows you to do stuff you SHOULD be able to do anyway, like change the freakin' wallpaper and icons.
and yes, my iphone is jailbroken. next time though i am thinking i want something with a slide out keyboard. also would be interested in android software. hello, open source, goodbye control freakin.

I have a landline. I've been working the same giant cordless for 7 years. I recently dropped it in the dishwater and lost my call display, BOO!
I refuse to get a new one...tho I probably should.
I also have a stack of geriatric cellphones from friends who are upgrading who really want me to get one:)
Maybe one of them will be worth 32,000?
Androids all the way ! I'm still stuck with my N97, but should get an android phone sooner or later. HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy S are both cool for their own reasons.
Instead, I'm starting to develope a deep aversion towards iPhone. iPhone4 is cool for surfing and stuff, but if you actually want to use it as a phone, there may be troubles ahead. I'm just wondering what the response from the reviewers would have been if Nokia had come up with a phone like this again... Instead, N8 actually makes sense
