Is it possible to lose weight when Jupiter is in your 1st house?

Jupiter will go into my first house when it goes into Pisces. I want to lose weight, but Jupiter is about expansion and the first house is the physical body. I do not need to expand physically anymore. Lol.

Can anybody please help me answer this question?

It is possible. You have to take the wild horse option and get OUTSIDE and move.

I have had Jupiter in my 1st this last year and have gone up Up UP and then down when I was walking all the time. If you don't move you will very likely expand.

i sure didn't.  at first.  but it motivated me to get off my butt and do something.  i spent a year walking around the city, and that did wonders (not having a car was a big motivation, too...)

    Hi Toni,

I've had Jupiter in the first for a while now too. While I did put on a couple pounds, I'm slender to begin with so its not a problem. I knew it was coming so before it got too close to my ascendant I purposely lost a few pounds, knowing that ol' Jolly would be along to put them back on. And being aware of the tendency helps. It just made me watch to make sure I didn't indulge too much. So, you say you have a little time, I guess get started now. Everyone is right about walking and movement.

Jupiter in the first is also a protective thing, not just an expansive thing, I think anyway.

I for one am waiting for him to bring his expansion and protection to my second house of earnings - yippee!

I have it natively. It is indeed protective and lucky, but it will also pad your ass quite generously. :) But if you know that, you can take measures to prevent it, if that's your goal.

You might add some weight, but given your awareness, you can work with him to make it the good kind, like muscle mass.

It really doesn't matter what you weigh. What matters is your body composition. But I'm sure you know that.

Doesn't Jupiter also rule Sagittarius and isn't Sag always active? I would like to think this is possible :) Move around a lot. Enjoy the outdoors! Go out dancing!

I do not have this transit, but what I normally do is get out and walk - even when I'm too damn lazy to exercise. This way, I don't feel bad to have just sat idly at home all day (I'm a freelance designer so this is WAY TOO EASY). When it's lunchtime... walk. After work... walk. It really helps clear the head and makes me less nutsy emotionally (HAHAHA!)

"It really doesn't matter what you weigh. What matters is your body composition. But I'm sure you know that."

I am aware Neva about body composition, but I just got out of a depressing period of my life and I gained LOTS and LOTS of weight. I am now happier than I have ever been in my life, even more happier than when I was thin. My doctor says I need to lose about 50 pounds. So it isn't just about me wanting to look good at a swimming pool (although I want that too), it's now about my health also!

kashmiri, I HAVE MOON IN LEO! So Mars is making me FEEL motivated right now. Yup, I am running and eating less. It's just that I'm kind supersticious and just wanted to make sure about Jupiter in Pisces in 2010.

How about Uranus in Aries. I have Mars in Aries so that will motivate me alot! Imagine, 7 years of motivation! Oooooooo.

I'm voting the Jupiter/Sag option - wild horses run free and work hard!  But I think there is satisfaction in that, too.

Hang in there, Toni - dunno if your hair is long enough to let the wind run through it, but if so I highly recommend it.  And I have a lot of faith in you - look what you've already done!

Shannon, astrologically I've learned that I am still in a Pluto transit. I am a 7 degree Sagittarius and Pluto is not done with my Sun until it hits 7 degree Capricorn. I am past the "grieving" stage and have hit rock bottom and am now in what people would call the "rebuilding" stage.

It's definitely possible to lose weight with Jupiter through the first, it just takes a bit more effort and focus.  Like neva, I have it natally and although I'll never be a slim girl (I have too much boobs and hip for that), I've dropped 60# in the past year.  I think everyone's right on track with the movement angle: I can diet all I want, but unless I MOVE, I won't drop an ounce.  *nodnodnod*

Toni, I had trouble with weight gain this year.  It's not an obscene amount, but it's enough to make me say, "This is too much!"

Jupiter isn't transiting my 1st house, but it IS closely opposite my Sun.

I look thinner than I actually weight because I'm Aries rising, but I really need to drop about 15 pounds to feel better.  With Jupiter in Libra on the DSC, it's a battle, because I love rich food.  Plus it being just after Halloween doesn't help!

LisLioness, knowing that other people have went through weight gain through their lives have made me feel better.

Anyways, I like your post. There's an optimistic and light-hearted feel to it.

SiDiablo, you lost 60 pounds this year? Wow! Now that's inspiration.

Yeah, but I didn't do it healthily.    In the stress over my divorce, my body kicked into ketosis for a few months and I shed weight like crazy, 40# in about three months.  I had to start lifting weights to keep from burning up my muscle mass.    I've lost the other 20 over the last six months or so with frequent plateaus, but slowly and steadily dropping the way you're supposed to.

I feel fabUlous!  Even though I'm at that stage I remember from the last time I was about this size: I think I look worse than when I was heavier.  Blech!  I know it's not true, it just feels that way and by the time I drop about 15-20 more pounds I'll both feel and look smokin' damn hotttttt.  (Yes, six "t" hot -- I have Leo!  *laughs*)

You and me, baybee, we're going to be lean, mean, hottie machines.

Thank you SaDiablo for that uplifting end to your response. I plan to start jogging in December at the gym. This semester I am trying to forget about my weight because I want to bring my GPA up in school.

But the thing is SaDiablo, I AM SO IMPATIENT right now! I just want it to shed off the pounds and I have a month and a half left more to weight. I am just too busy now.

Doesn't have to be outside - I started going to the gym to weight train/do cardio w/Jupiter in 1st. I also got this yoga "passport" card which allowed me to try different studios downtown for a low price. I'm still using it. Very Jupiter!

Oh dancing ROCKS!  Plus it's great for weight loss.

And there's nothing wrong with rebuilding - it means you get to build good stuff when you replace what Pluto kicked to the curb.

It's funny what sticks with me, and there's a phrase Elsa used a long time back in one of the readings I had - probably from a class:  "Pluto clears out the dross."

In the meanwhile here's a to make you smile while you weight/wait.

Shannon, haha, dross! It's kinda like a computer getting an update and cleaning out all the viruses. It sucks, but once it's over you feel refreshed!
