Is Sagittarius an 'nice' or bossy sign?

I'm curious because compared to Aries or Leo, we Sags are angels!

But then again, I don't get out much.

Are we nicer than the other 2 fire signs or am I just in la la land (Pisces Ascendant)?

So, have you ever met a bossy Sagittarius or one that was just plain aggressive?

Or are the archers you've met just quiet, sweet, tamed creatures?

For what it's worth, I traded in a Leo for a Sag.

Actually my Sag can be bossy, but that's the cardinal cross.

Sag are philosophers, if they see that being bossy is wisdom in that context, they will be Playing that role. Most of time they are just cool and try to be funny

IMO Sag is not bossy (unless they have other "issues" in their natal chart) But they can be a bit outspoken and bold.

Leo can be bossy, but they mean well, and their charisma makes you just want to get on hand and knee

with sag, they just charm the pants of a ya...

aries are just incorrigable and completely misunderstood ....

this is my completely biased opinion

Bossy? YES. Wisdom-sharing, yes, but know-it-all, too. Like they cornered the market on philosophical understanding. They can give good advice but in my opinion are oblivious to their own shortcomings. Very blunt and not at all diplomatic.

That said (very flattering, I know!) they are very fun people and open minded. Not judgemental. They don't really stand on ceremony and can go with the flow.

I'm not bossy,  if you don't like my advice then why did you ask me?

You know I have been there, done that.  So why did you ask me what you should do, if your not going to do it.

Bossy no,  straight to the point.  That's a Sag for you.

I think Pixie nailed it.  The Sags (and Sag Mercs) I know are very bossy, but they play it off like banter.  It's annoying sometimes, because they'll cross my boundaries and if I snipe 'em, I look like the asshole.  After all, they were just joking, right?  Nevermind I never asked for their input.  *shakes head*
They mean well, though.  They believe they have all the answers and know the "best" way to do anything in their realm, so why shouldn't they share the knowledge?  Forget that the sharing comes out as, "UR DOIN' IT RONG!  Do it my way!"  *snort*  At least they don't hold a grudge if you ignore their suggestions.  It gives them the chance to tell you again!  And they will.

"The boss" is the last thing a Sag wants to be... Responsibilty? AHHHHHHHH!

They are, however, concerned that you know they are hot shit.

Deny it all you want Sagies, but you know you think you're hot shit and this awareness of your own hot shitness oozes out when you are talking to someone who might not know this about you, giving people the impression that you might be angling for a position of power which is really the furthest thing from your mind. You're just trying to get your hot shit points. Sag likes to get points. (Mostly kidding, but kinda not kidding. )

Oh, yeah!  The fastest way I've found to shut up my bossy Sags is to say, "If you don't like how I'm doing this, you do it."  Oh, noooooooo!  Run away, run away, fleeeeee!!!!  *laughs*  I do enjoy 'em 89% of the time, though.  Silly Saggies.

    Here's a joke:

    Aries talk their talk.

    Leo walk their walk.

    Sags pretends to do both.

    LOL.

    persian_cat, it's true, I'm a Sag and I hate responsibility! Haha.

No, but honestly, with all the 10th house in my chart, it does add some need for structure.

I have always had really close Sag buddies.

They were good for me I guess in a way they "bossed" me into actually doing what I was thinking about doing (take a college course, apply for that job)

They would come over and say "Hey, get in the car, we're driving to Florida for Spring Break!!!  Let's go!!"  And, I would go - I never, ever do spontaneous shit like that on my own.  And they always had that big Saggi grin on their face, and I have always been drawn to that.

What I gave to them is structure - as in, hey, if you don't stop partying every night, and hanging around with these freaks, something bad is going to happen really soon, kay?  And eventually they would listen to me.......

In my experience with Sag, I wouldn't say so much bossy as preachy. They don't seem to care what I do exactly, but always give me advice in a somewhat patronizing way as if the solution is as obvious and easy as they're presenting it.

I had the mother from hell, and then when I married I inherited the mother-in-law from hell. They were both Sag's. Because I'm a firm believer in Karma, I took this as no coincidence. The universe was out to get me. I always felt when I married I would finally have a kind, loving mother figure in my life thru my mother in law. I was WRONG. Mother in law just picked up where  mom left off. I left home at 17 and became impancipated because my mother was so crazy and focused on making me the whipping post of her world. To say I come from an insane family is an understatement. I also have Sag on the descendent. Something I do know is that Sags are forceful, brutally honest, blunt and prone to be totally out of touch with their M.O.'s

When I encounter a Sag, I bow, keep a distance,  remain respectful and then

    run for my life.

I don't know much about Sag's but I worked with a Sag girl who is now the manager of one of the U.K's major airports (true Sag theme) and she gave me alot of advice that was pure gold. To her everything was simple and maybe this is another virtue of the sign that she made it seem like if you could perceive it or picture it in your mind then you could do it.

Some notable Sag's are Britney Spears (note her many 'free-me' songs), Lauren Luke the internet make-up tutor, Walt Disney & Stephen Spielberg 'projected' vision.

Many Sag's looks like Gods thats why they're known as the sign of the Gods, they also have a sensous mouth, muscular build esp. thick neck, long waisted, strong thighs, wide teeth, high forehead and pointed chin: Darryl Hannah, Britney Spears, Anna Nicole Smith, Brad Pitt, Brendan Fraser, Jake Gyllenhaul, John Stewart. Another type of Sag looks more short and stocky and these fall under 'Jupitarian' types just like with Cancerians you have 'Crab' types and 'Moon' Types. They are known for their rounded arched eyebrows and/or largess Like Winston Churchill, Bette Midler, Jay Z.

I did a bit of research and these are some qualities of Sag: Always want more, journey more important than destination, bring cultures together/exploring and resolving issues, can be brutal not just in words (many are not very articulate) but in their half-beast glyph complete with arrow, no holds barred, no limits or boundaries.

The goodness that you ask about is linked to house 9 of morality, naturally they seek out truth in spheres of religion, law and education nothing is too high or far for them to aim for and when you do something they dissaprove of, notice how they look down their nose at you! The bad ones do wrong by doing right e.g: the hateful publishing tycoon Richard Desmond who has gradually taken over the publishing industry (Walt Disney also gradually bought up California to build Disney Land) and has connections to the mafia just incase anyone decides they don't like his pornographic style of publishing, hedonism, excess, debauchery, inconsiderate, shallow fun-seeking.

StarGirl, I always thought Pisces was the sign that looked closest to "the Gods". Since they're the sign closest to God. There's something about their look that make them look like angels!

But you made me even prouder to be a Sagittarius!

mimi mottet: Yeah, Sags are intense, but don't forget so are Aries, Leo, and Scorpios. Also, that was funny.

I have never met a "quiet, sweet, tamed" Sag, LOL.

All the Sags I meet are bossy but also nice. They are blunt, but most fire signs are. In my experience, they're almost always bossy with family or lovers. When it comes to bossing friends around, it depends on your Sag. They are also always very charming and funny.

We--can I say "we" when I'm actually a Scorpio sun?--we are charming and funny to disarm others.  Or is that a Scorpio trait?  They often mesh--it's crazy, I work hard to control the Sag most times.

    5-planets in Sagittarius--heaven help me...

Funny you should mention it because my boss IS a Sadge. She's very rigid. Very "do as I say, not as I do". Very "this is what I've asked of you and I don't care what your ideas are - do it".

In fact, one of the hardest things I find to deal with about her is her absolute lack of friendliness. Very cold, very "professional" in terms of "I'm your boss, not a person you should be friendly with".

Does not a happy Pisces (with Leo moon and rising - eep!) make. She basically ignores me unless there's a problem or something she needs me to handle.

I wrote about this: One time when she was dressing me down about something I felt was being dealt with unfairly, I started crying (because I was angry and frustrated and upset). She said, "Why are you crying?" in a dismissive tone of voice, which made me cry harder. Later I apologized for being emotional and she asked me what month I was born in. Apparently she's interested in astrology, too.

Fat load of good it does her in trying to understand people, though. ;)

    Hi Luci,

Sorry about your boss.  Notatirem is correct on her assessment of Sags with responsibility.  They really don't like it.  Maybe your Sag boss can't deal with her responsibility and in true Sag fashion verbally takes it out on you.  Hates her responsibility, speaks of her frustration, and then can't figure out why she hurt your feelings.  Another classic Sag feature.

My father has Sun, Mercury and Saturn conjunct in Sagittarius. He was a tyrant. And very violent. But all signs, aspects, etc. have their good and bad potential. I think my father unfortunately expressed the worst of potential Sagittarius traits, so with him I saw the bad side. Oh, and he also hated responsibility. He didn't want the responsibility of raising a family once he had one.

He also has retrograde Jupiter in Taurus. Those planets are all part of a grand trine with Jupiter and Neptune in Virgo, with the Sag planets being out of element. Not sure what exactly it means, as I'm very inexperienced at astrology, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Especially the retrograde Jupiter.

On the other hand I've had several very close Sagittarian friends throughout my life who are wonderful people - and 3 of them have the same birthday as him (one of them being my brother-in-law).

Interestingly enough I've got Sagittarius on my IC and my south node is in Sagittarius. That definitely struck me as weird when I started studying my own chart and figuring out what everything meant.

I find Sag to be a bit blunt.  I have Sag on my descendent. The sign that I have encountered that relates most to this post is Aries, lol. Maybe because I have Saturn in Aries in the 10th opposing my Mars in Libra in the 4th. Also my Hub is an Aries and HE knows best.... just ask him lol.

Luci, as you are finding, sags can be sort of psycho...as they have the split personality thing that generally only gets attributed to Gemini.  But having said that, it takes two to make a connection.   I find, as a sag, that pisces don't generally like me, and tend to resist my charms.  And the only reason i even notice is because I have cancer rising, picses on midheaven, and several signs in scorpio...very sensitive...

I like what I read above about Saggies looks like goddess or gods.  haha, I've heard one about us looking like super heros (with a flamboyant dress style to cloth the beautiful sculpted body underneath). But back to the original question I do think saggies can be demanding or at least speak their mind to where it sounds like it's bossy. I think BECAUSE we are honest and blunt makes us nice - think big picture. We are saving you heartache and pointing out the truth so you if you do trip - we can say "told ya so"  - and yes skirt ALL responsibility. Thinking about the big picture makes us this way...always tell the truth because no matter how much it hurts others now, hey they will one day come around to say thank you when it FINALLY hits them...days, months, or years later. To me, that's being nice.

    wow..that was a tangent.

My Pisces brother hates it when I'm in "preach mode". He knows I mean well and want him to succeed. I usually do it in a very nice "Libra moon way" because no need to step on people's toes especially when they didn't ask you to help!

But then when he actually takes my advice and achieves something, I feel like my mission is accomplished (and I can't help but gloat).

liberte, I think it's funny how people think I'm trying to charm them when all I'm doing is being myself!

I think people who are rigid are just as arrogant as people who are trying to charm others. They're thinking, "Oh look, I'm not trying hard like those goofballs over there, I must be better than them". But the thing is arrogance works in many ways.
