I updated my Linkedin based on a book about using social networks to job hunt.. and asked for a recommendation from my boss.. in the past i've been shy about this.. hell I'm shy about most of this stuff since I'm a 12th houser.. and it's been a problem in getting ahead.. and wow is it ever eye opening. It's nice to get confirmation that you are good at your role.

I haven't used linkedin. It's really cool you're being so proactive & good for you for asking for a recommendation! See? It paid off. I think asking those sort of things get a little easier as you get older (YAY! an advantage ;)

Mr. Husbandyman has found linked in to be very usefull indeed. Companies are scouting him out now, for both consulting and partnership deals. My linkedin has not been very productive at all, but I havent really put much effort into it either. 

Liz your linked in is amazing, very detailed and good feedback, I can see your linked in working quite well. Something that my husband suggests is joining lots of professional groups for your industry cause that is a great way to network and stay on top of changes in your field.

I joined LinkedIn a few years ago but never found it much use and deleted my profile last year. I don't think my diffuse kind of profile works there; and I didn't do enough anyway to widen my network

Several people I know in very specific areas have done very well through LinkedIn, on the other hand: these are people like [specific industry] consultants, and IT professionals. I certainly think it works if you really 'network' it and if you are in a profession suited to it

ETA  That certainly is a great recommendation! I have a similar one for proofreading / editing, in case anyone needs that!

I'm the last of my friends to get on LinkedIn. Yea it's very beneficial for those who're job hunting - or those whose professions requiring them to continually network.

BP I think it would be useful to be on there as I believe we are going to be global yet local. As in if someone recommends me through there it will depend a lot on if it's through a person who knows me in real life or has worked with me. And vice versa.. you go to a new town/job where no one knows you but can kind of check up on you - without it being facebook lol. In this way it's brilliantly helpful. I have all these people I know and have known and then felt shy about working the network. But now I know how I can use my connections while still feeling comfortable that i'm not "bothering" people.

I have no where to put this but the army gave me the ok to enter a project into the editing awards. Uranus trines my MC. It's not that good but I'm going to enter it anyway. I think it tells the story well. Hey good time to sneak it in.. when pisces is emphasized and mars in virgo is asleep... heeeee.
