I'm depressed over Mickey Rourke today. Have ya seen him lately? I'm just killed. He was soooo good looking when I was a teenager, now he looks like a homeless person.

My co-workers are laughing at me!

Has anyone else been shocked lately by someone that they thought was super sexy when you were young? Seen an old flame and you where shocked by their apperance?

Mickey Rourke was very nice on the eyes before he started messing with plastic surgery. I wonder how he would have aged if he hadn't messed up his face so badly. I think he would look even better than he did when he was younger.

Disregarding all that, he definitely does need a stylist to bring his choice of smart apparel into the present.

He's old, but I think Giancarlo Giannini is still a looker. Sexy.

Mickey Rourke is an abomination and just as an aside...I despise Sting. God I hate him.

You know who looks good? Glen Frey of the Eagles. Saw them in concert over the summer.

And not old but OMG-- Robert Downey, Jr. I am SO SO sorry i didn't think to write to him in jail and get him to fall in love with me. Sigh.

Mickey went into boxing when his acting career stalled. He got his face messed up and then bad plastic surgery to fix it. You know I saw The Wrestler last night and he still has something compelling about him even under that leatherface. I KNOW. It's weird. But I'd still do him. Ha Ha.

    Mark Harmon, Tom Skerrit, woot.

Did anyone see Dolly Parton on Larry King this weekend? She was hilarious, as always. Larry King asked her about plastic surgery:

KING: You've had great plastic surgery, by the way.

PARTON: Well, thank you. You have, too, ain't you?

    KING: No, I...

    (LAUGHTER)

    KING: Are you kidding?

PARTON: You haven't had plastic surgery?

    KING: I'm too scared.

PARTON: Well, you know what, I'm the kind of person if I need something, I just go get it done. I always make jokes and say if I see something sagging, dragging and bagging. I'll get it nipped, tucked and sucked.

You should have seen Larry King's face when she asked him if he had plastic surgery LOL. He got all sputtery.

Well I never knew that Dolly had plastic surgery.  Huh.  I mean I know that Dolly has looked the same for a very long time.... Then my brother was making a comment about how Dolly's bust size has not stayed the same through the years, and I was like, "Really??"  Well what??  It's not like I have my eyes glued to women's bosom's all the time to see if they're changing with the weather, sheesh.

Steven Tyler.  He looks bad and he could have looked like Bon Jovi if he'd stayed away from the hard drugs.

I really wish Micki would stop with the stupid bun.  It's ugly and unbecoming and contributes to the homeless look.  If he'd age with dignity that would help.

Jeez, that was kind of harsh. He must be offending my Venusian sense of beauty.

I'm not sure, but I'm wondering if it's because we are still expecting them to be sex symbols?

nah.  Well, Steven Tyler yeah, but I'm slowly realizing he's past that.  Micki isn't, he just dresses badly and looks greasy so I guess it offends me that he doesn't make the most of himself, especially in his business.  There are plenty of people who don't utilize what they have, but they're not actors.

Well true, but actors are just people too.  Sometimes I see the way an actor has dressed and I just wonder who could possibly let them go out like that?  I mean really, sometimes their outfits are the worst!

    Haha, Dolly Parton is funny!

I am rather disappointed by the ageing process of Leonardo DiCaprio. He's not old yet either.

Well what can you do?  You age however you age.  Unless you can avoid alcohol, sunshine, drink lots of water, get lots of rest and eat well (which seems so simple, but so many people don't do) I think ageing is hard on most people.

I saw The Expendables this weekend.  The amount of plastic surgery for a few of the actors involved was distracting.  I still enjoyed it, but damn it I wish more people understood that you can be 60 and aging gracefully and that's way more attractive than looking like your face is trying to slide tightly off your head.  *sigh*

Whats wrong growing old gracefully! I didn't know who Mickey Rouke was until that movie came out and boy he is scary looking. Thank god some men are looking after themselves like Neil Dempsey even if he does colour his hair.

Re: Mickey Rourke. I saw "The Expendables" this weekend too. Am I the only person who caught him DROOLING all over himself during that emo painting scene? Like a grandpa...

Anyways, I miss the sexy Mickey  from "Wild Orchid". He was so...charming HEHE.

Now he looks like a bum! I've seen recent pictures and thank God he buzzed the ratty hair.

G - no, you weren't the only one.  After all, the shot was so close, how could you miss it?  It was kinda gross, but one gross moment in a movie full of win, I can live with that.  Besides, he IS grandpa age - late 50's, I think.

Also, gratuitous yummy manflesh pictures for those who don't know what Mickey Rourke looked like 20 years ago:

Tell me he wouldn't have been stunning at 60, and I won't believe you.

Yeah Shannon it was an AWESOME movie and I really enjoyed all the guys/action.

However, Sly and Mickey faces were...distracting.

Hmm, I see your point snapdragon, but I've noticed that most, if not all the people listed have been involved in some kind of heavy substance abuse. (To my knowledge) Without sounding preachy, but that is most probably a factor. Takes more than a glass of wine to do that.

But hey, I'd take that any day over a face made of plastic.

Why, yes, as a matter of fact just 2 weeks ago when I attended my 30th high school class reunion.  Holy sh*t - Let's just say that time has been a friend to more women than men.   Those guys who I had a crush on or dated in high school, well they lost their hair and gained more than a few pounds...I get that it's been 30 yrs ago, but ugh!!!

Still patting myself on the back for getting out of that town when I went away to college...

Edit:  I saw Dolly Parton up close last spring at a pre-concert party.  If you see her in person, there's no doubt she's been spending time under the knife..

Yeah, well you know the cameras they use on the stars are much better than the ones say...for the local news, lol.  So I guess if you saw them in real life you'd notice the weird skin.

*sniff* I loved Mickey Rourke in Year of the Dragon! waah!

But you know who's looking okay?  Simon Le Bon from Duran Duran.  He's looking pretty good at 52.

For that matter, John Taylor also looks pretty damn good.

Maybe they have the same...er....dermatologist :).

Edited to add: You know who also has aged very well? Rick Springfield. You can definitely tell that he's older- he is in better shape than many men his age, but he does not have an "unnaturally improved" look about him. If he's had work done it's not super glaringly obvious work (and I've seen amateur concert vids and such that are recent, so it's not just "celeb lighting" doing that). He just looks like a good-looking man of his age who has taken good care of himself.

Adam Ant, on the other hand...well, it's not as bad as Mickey Rourke, but it's not good either. That's a real shame, because that was a SEXY man, in the day.

I used to really like Mickey but he beat up that girl so bad, and I lost all respect.  I like John Stamos and Rob Lowe too.

I don't think I heard about him beating a girl up.  That would do it for me, too.  The truth is I always got a creepy vibe from him anyway, and didn't like him.

Yep Micky Rourke always gave me the creeps too, and I never liked his looks. There's just something in his face i find repellent.

Guys who were great sex symbols for me, but who haven't aged well: Jack Nicholson (all that fat) and John Hurt (all those wrinkles, and he had such fabulous skin, and that wonderfully mobile sensitive face). And yep, Leo DiCaprio. He reminded me very much of The Man when they were both younger - The Man is aging better though both have a propensity to put on weight! Marlon Brando, another of the same physical type, went that way too.

Most of you won't have heard of him, but I watched a docu tonight on Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins, twice world Snooker Champion, who in his youth had the same kind of androgynous beauty and quicksilver grace as Hurt. Higgins wrecked himself with drink (like Johnny only much worse) and died earlier this year of cancer, looking like a corpse long before he died. Painful to see.

    "androgynous beauty and quicksilver grace"

You just reminded me of David Hemmings, and how shocked I was the first time I saw what he looked like towards the end of his life. While aging happens to everyone, with a build so naturally boyish I would never have guessed he'd end up looking as he did.

The only thing I really even recognize in those later pictures is those incredibly expressive eyes. He had those to the end.

I saw the beginning of 9 1/2 weeks for the first time awhile ago, but couldn't finish the movie.  I saw where it was going and ended it, but was stunned by how handsome he looked.  The intense heat in his eyes and a definite sense of cruelty.  Hope it's the character and not him!

But wow, so charismatic!!!!!!  It makes me want to cry, why did he wreck his face with plastic surgery?  I know boxing messed him up, but wish he would have left his face alone.
