Someone was upset by my opinions and walked off these boards last night. I don't really blame her and while I am sorry to see her go, I think it was appropriate.

There are a lot of new people here and I thought this would be a good time to recall my original vision for these boards when they were launched.  These boards were never intended to be suitable for one and all. They were definitely not intended to be spic and span and PC.

They were intended to robust and energetic sort of like the raucous card game we hosted at our house in the desert, something akin to the backroom of a speakeasy as detailed here:

 Wretched Hive Of Scum And Villainy

Obviously this is going to offend some sensibilities but there is room on the internet for a place like this and with a background like mine, I can't see hosting anything but.

I like that vision, actually...

I mean, people just talking about whatever they want to, and it being... well, really about what people are interested, not just what they talk about because they're afraid to say what's really on their minds. I've been on some other boards where you know people are just coming up with stuff to talk about because they're too afraid to say what's on their minds.

It's not something you can always be in the mood for, true, but that's what the other kinds of boards are for.

Elsa, THE reason why I love this board and blog is because IT IS provacative at time!

My Uranus love all this shock and newness. My Scorpio loves the intensity! Your blog is the only blog for astrology that I read.

I love that vision.  People are free to walk in or out of a bar and they can also get kicked out if they try to bust the place up or push people around.  Get as loud and rowdy as you want as long as you aren't hurting anyone or breaking things but don't expect people not to point and laugh if you're ridiculous. 

You can also come and get sappy and pour your heart out to people who will nod sympathetically and hand  you another drink. 

I love it here.

Maybe some won't like that description, but I think it's true. I know it's true. I am exactly as evil as I am otherwise, and I don't see that changing within this lifetime. Moreover, tough birds don't fly away from a fight. I'll blacken your eye and you'll crack my ribs and we might cuss each other out in the worst way, but at the end of the day we'll recognize that what we have in common transcends disagreements on issues that have nothing to do with what we share anyway. I wouldn't be in this foxhole if I didn't like the people here in the first place.

Anyway, point being is that I'm invested in this place and the friends I've made, and I'd be shortchanging my path of evolution if I walked away from relationship difficulties as my south node would have me do. 

So sez this bleeding heart, liberal Cancerian with brass knuckles in her purse and murder in her southern cracker soul.

The most foolish thing I ever did in a bar happened my freshman year in college, I got plastered and decided to go to sleep under a pool table.  I woke up the next day at my friend's house with a footprint across my brand new Irish sweater.

There are times on these threads when I get spitting mad.  I feel sad when folks leave.  I sometimes have to work through dark and icky stuff when someone expresses an opinion that is foreign to mine.  It's not always easy to handle the energy when you like a person but loathe their opinion.  I have had more than my share of belly laughs.  Evey once in a while, I am moved to tears, and i've learned a little bit about astrology too.

All I can say is, at least this time I am awake!
