Hello Pearl and welcome to EE

I have it: Cap Sun/Venus opp Cancer Saturn/Mars, both Rx, and all mashed up in T-squares to my Jupiter/Juno /Chiron in Libra - so it's very hard to separate the energies.

Can you define your question please - I'm not sure what you want to know! I'm quite old btw so I've had a LOT of experiences with the opposite sex; I can't go into all of them, and they weren't all the same!

Hi BP :) I was curious about general manifestations of this aspect....

whether it be tension with those you are attracted to, or projection, or even i was wondering if maybe you've experienced social misunderstandings because of it - for instance, coming across more aggressive than you intended and therefore being misinterpreted...

i find it interesting in how someone with this placement would learn or need to learn how to balance it

Well as I said, mine's all mashed up with other things - so it's very hard to separate out what is causing what.

I do have a very ambiguous or fluctuating attitude to my relationships: I crave intimacy and full-on all-in 'love' (and my relationships have ruled my life), yet there's a part of me too which panics a bit when I feel smothered or leaned on or confined by a relationship. I guess I handled it by mainly living alone, and also by being attracted to men who were were themselves very independent and didn't try to smother me: most of them had lots of Aquarius! - Sun or Moon, usually.

I don't know about projection - it's not a word or concept I'm very familiar with. But I did spend a lot of my life in love with men I couldn't have, ie live with, for one reason or another.... having a fixed Taurus Moon plays into that as well, though

If you read what it says on Cafe Astrology here (second section down) I can vouch for every word of this entry being true for me. It could have been written expressly for me! I can't express it any better, so here you are:

I have Venus in Cancer opposing Mars in Capricorn.

    Hrm, what have I observed?

Well first I've found that pursuing the opposite sex absolutely does not work for me.  The minute I show interest first, the other party bolts.

That said, I'm quite happily married, to a man I basically ran into by accident and we clicked immediately, so there is definitely hope.  But the thrill of the chase, etc, not so much. (as an aside, he ALSO has Venus opp Mars, but in synastry our two oppositions make really nice trines/sextiles to each other)

    From BP's link:

"As much as they want to be involved in a passionate affair, their timing can be off and/or it's difficult to find a relationship that mirrors their strong desires and expectations. Especially when they are young, there can be a real awkwardness in their social skills--this may or may not be apparent to others, but these people most definitely feel it themselves."

So true!!  I'm still rather socially awkward.  Loner type.  When it comes to groups, I just don't get it.

Also I've found if I want to do something that involves one end of the opposition, I have to find a way to include the other end or else the imbalance is so uncomfortable I either quit altogether, or it blows up in my face.

examples:  I want to fire up my Mars and get in better shape (it's in the 6th).  However, 12th house Venus in Cancer wants to be pretty and nurtured at the same time, and tends toward mystical escapism.  Yoga is a godsend for me.

Or I decided I wanted to learn to draw.  (Venus)  I had to set goals (Cappy) and institute daily discipline (6th house).

Neither end of the opposition can accomplish diddly squat without the other one involved.

Thank you for the responses! and the link BP!

Korellyn, the person I am curious about has the same planet placements as you, not sure about houses... but I think I am noticing the group thing about this person as well!

Well, if it plays out the same way mine does, have some compassion for them.  I'm told I seem stuck-up & stand-offish in groups, when I'm really not!  I just have no idea what to say!  I really have to be drawn out of my shell to have any sort of social success in a group... otherwise I try to fade into the wallpaper.

    Mina (wall)    Portlandia, OR   Taurus/Gemini/Gemini

I have Venus in Aries and Mars in Libra, but they do not form an aspect to each other. Hopefully, my experiences with the opposite gender can still be useful to you Pearl. :)

It's been my experience that I tend to attract men to me that I find highly unattractive in non-negotiable ways most of the time. It's very rare that I attract a man into my sphere that I really find attractive, and want to pursue any sort of relationship with.

I also get projected onto, and most men do not see me clearly at first. They see what they wish I was, or what they want me to be, and when I shatter their illusionary mirror, they get mean, angry, and childish in their responses. I'm used to it, and have a razor tongue in the event that they can't take 'no' the first time.

I attracted one man into my life that I wanted so much it almost hurt to look at him sometimes. He had Venus/Mars in Gemini, but also unaspected like mine are. We were very different from each other in many ways, but it seemed that in the ways that mattered most, we were similar, and fit together really well. With Scorpio (sex and death) on my DC, and Uranus (sudden/unexpected), our relationship ended in a Scorpionic way. With one Gemini twin living in the stars, while the other lives a mortal life on earth searching for it's other half. He was a Gemini Sun like me. : )
