The north node is very much a new kid on my astrological radar but the more I look into it, the more it's hitting me that it's an extremely powerful indicator of psychology and motivation.

I'm a NN Leo and finally starting to embrace that (I work in TV and recently got an on-screen break) after years of grappling with my aquarian SN (aloofness, lonerish).

My fiance is a total workaholic, has real trouble letting certain events in his past go and is highly materialistic... turns out he's got a caner NN, capricorn south.

A look at other friends of mine and the north node has proven to be a really strong indicator.

So what's the thought on this... can it be a better indicator than the sun sign?

Or am I being an overenthusiastic newbie :)

No, I don't think it's necessarily more important -- or in your words, a better indicator -- it's just different and important in its own way. Maybe like your sun is your skeletal system, and the north node is some other important thing. Like your muscles. To be healthy, you have to work on getting and maintaining healthy muscle mass, right? You don't *have* to, but to live out your fullest health and life quality potential, you really should. Otherwise you're shortchanging yourself.

My understanding is that it's where you should gravitate toward in your personal development, and really for your ultimate fuifillment, maybe even happiness. I'm just paraphrasing, others please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have an enormously hard time working toward my north node. It is as if -- and it probably is -- that energy is completely foreign to me. Not just foreign -- unknown.

This is compounded by the fact that my south node is conjunct my ascendant and Pluto. Doing what I've done for lifetimes is easier than breathing, but I'm not supposed to do that so much anymore, to put it simply. Kind of blows -- who doesn't like to do what they're good at? :)

I don't know much about the N. Node myself, but since Saturn's sitting right on top of it I've been reading more about it lately.

My N. Node is conjunct my IC (1°) in Virgo.  Recently, I've been thinking that, with my S. Node on MC, people see me as something I'm actively moving away from (or supposed to be moving away from, anyway), which probably helps with the "people thinking I'm something I'm not until I ruin it for them" phenomenon.  That and the Neptune-Sun trine. 

My North Node is at 9 degree Aries. I'm all about independence and leaving the co-dependency crap(south node in libra) behind. ;P

Plus, I am feisty. :P
