When Bush was president, they didn't shout insults at him in Congressional sessions. So it IS getting worse.
I was gonna post that, but then I couldn't remember if Congress did insult him or not. I know a lot of the public did, but I couldn't remember about Congress. I don't know if he ever addressed Congress, apparently, it doesn't happen all that often (which I didn't know).
It was kind of weird to see the President getting treated like that by Congress. I expect that kind of stuff from the public at large (regardless of political affiliation), but Congress?
yes Bush was booed by Democratic Congress in his 2005 State of the Union Address

& I lovvve watching Parliament on C-Span.
It is surreal watching Parliament. I feel the same way watching those judge shows on TV. On the one hand, it's entertaining, but on the other hand, it's not fake, it is a real place of law, which makes it just downright scary. I hope our Congress never gets that bad! Although, it would be pretty funny if Congresspeople started going to work in pro wrestling outfits...
I also disagree with Bush Jr. being booed. I didn't like him as a president at all, but seriously, I expect more from Congress. Quit hissing and booing and pass some useful, well thought out laws!
I like that the dissent out in the open (and sometimes witty) rather than our rather closed procedural.
I don't have a problem with Congress booing the President at all. They should be doing it more often IMO (no matter who is President).

The polarization continues... although I don't think the U.S. is more polarized now than when Bush Jr. was in office. Plus, globally speaking, this was a church ice cream social compared to, for example, the British Parliament.
Weird times....
