October...
posted 5 months ago in General
I loooove the fall, and I have many (almost unconscious until I recognize it) rituals to welcome the fall every year. First, I start cooking a lot more...baking cakes...cupcakes..and such. I tend to buy more cookbooks and magazines such as Good Housekeeping, Woman's World, Cooking Light, Martha Stuart Living, etc. I light a lot more fragranced candles than normal. I get sleepy more often, wanting to cuddle up in a blanket on the couch with the candles lit and the ceiling fan lightly blowing...ahhhhh. I make a lot more trips out to Hobby Lobby, buying or making fall decorations for the house. I already decked out my house last week =)
I loooooooove the fall. And it doesn't even get real "fall-ish" here in TX. I just pretend I live in New England in the meantime.
Really I love the change of seasons no matter which one. I love fall in North Georgia as we get really great color without the bitter cold further north. Springtime in Atlanta looks like a Disney movie though with all of the blooms. With enough allergy meds, it's fabulous. :)
I couldn't live without all four! I love fall because a certain richness and depth in colours and tastes and textures begins to set in. And the crispness in the air makes you feel sharper somehow.
I love October for the changing color of the leaves out here in PA, and for post season baseball. My team is going again, hooray!
I'm a fan of summer, myself. I start to panick a little when the crickets cue up at the end of August.
High Five Shell, autumn sister! smoooooooooooooch!
I get emotional for every season, but autumn i think is the deepest for me. bittersweet to the max. and then I just want to fuck! (oops sorry) I mean bake! cookies! and breaad... and stufff,.....
Fall is the season of my Soul. But where I live I can be 100 even in october.
though we do have seasons here, Just not as harsh as I was raised with in Indiana. Last two days have actually been cold at night I can pull up the flannels with all the windows open! wheeee!
hahahha..chamirose...fun fall for you then![]()
I love spring and summer , in the fall i just feel everything is dying
hate it...and living in norway does not help..we have extreme winters...takes usally 7 min to get to the subway..but in the winter...maybe around 40 min...hate snow...so many shoes ruined..and why cant there be long summer nights all year long, so you can take nightly swims in the ocean...go barefoot on pavement..have beach parties..
i voted summer...i used to love fall when i was a kid, because we had snowy winters. now i live in rainsville, and fall means 7 months of rain is around the corner...very depressing for this sun lover!
i do love the foggy mornings we get here, though, and the smell of woodfires and wearing wooly tights and sweaters.
My Libra gay bff calls this "Libra Glamour Season" but that COULD have a tiny bit to do with the fact that he lives in Manhattan and works in the fashion industry. (Why are the fall shows in Virgo Sun time, not Libra time? Astrology of that, Annalisa?)
October baseball!
I miss living in a place where there are cider mills. I get homesick around this time for that reason.
Fall is my time, baybee! The only thing that could make it more perfect is if the days stayed lighter longer... once sundown hits at about 5:30, I'm done with it, bring back the LIGHT, dammit! *laughs* But crisp days, cool nights, sparkly stars, colorful trees, and the smell... divine! Yay, fall!
Fall. It's cold enough to keep you on your toes and to wear sweaters, but no more than that. Everything is maturing. The air just feels more serious, pensive, but not in the hibernation sense of winter. Smells of new beginnings. Something about it just seals fall experiences into my memory, it's clearer.
o, and halloween is my favorite holiday, lmao :D
I love fall! But I voted summer, I am a huge fan of beaches and the ocean and the heat waves and sticky weather.
I do have to admit though, I loved putting on my new super soft sweater this morning and walking in the cool air to the train. :)
Halloween was always my favorite holiday- from childhood of course but still is even though I haven't done anything for years. Costumes, candy? Wow. Perfect!
Will anyone dress up for Halloween?
I come up with many ideas, but every year I never dress up. The last time I went to the East Village, the costumes were so creative. I only took pictures of a few. People dressed up as Pac Man and three ghosts. A guy dressed as an American Apparel ad. A girl dressed up as a jellyfish with an umbrella with tentacles. One guy had a really weird costume that is kind of hard to explain. He was dressed up as a clear taco bell box. He wore a sombrero. And inside the taco bell box there were rats.

This year I thought about being the V train, but that's just shameful. It would be funny, though. Hanging the sign on both sides of me.

They should have the shirt in the transit museum.
that taco bell costume is disgusting and hilarious. do the v train!
i dress up every year, usually as someone ridiculous like frida kahlo or mia from pulp fiction. i've been wanting to do woody allen for years but i can never find a suit that fits! so who knows who i'll be this year.
one of my best non-specific costumes was a dead housewife, i got to wear an apron and heels but blood and flies on my face as well. i'm rambling here, moving on...
Loooove Fall! The colors, the scents, the crisp air, fresh apples . . . all of it. I almost always feel my most upbeat in October when the Sun is in Libra. ![]()
Tried living for six years in AZ & SoCal. The lack of seasons, especially Fall, drove me crazy. The only reason I stayed as long as I did in SoCal was the ocean. Nothing quite like walking at the water's edge, waves breaking over the toes.
Fall definitely. I live in northern Canada so the change of seasons is intense. Halloween is my favourite day ever and I always make a huge deal out of it. It's the one day my sun/pluto, scorp rising, neptune ascendent can make a statement and boy have I gone for it; dominatrix, medusa, sniper victim, evil fairy, sharon tate - yeah, my costumes are usually quite twisted and people think I'm sick. Which I am of course, ha ha.
i used to hate it because it meant winter was coming (being a replanted west coast baby in lake effect snow country did not make me happy about winter.)
but out here summer is worse...
i still adore spring above all, though ;)
Last year for Halloween I was the Unholy Ghost. This year I'm dreaming up a hand-made Greek or Roman goddess costume, though I've probably left it too late to get it made in time. I really don't even know why I want to do it -- I'm working the midnight shift on Halloween, so nowhere to show off! *sniffles*
I hibernate in the winter cuz we live way out in the country and it gets dark early and I just want to do everything during the daylight and then come home and make soup and wear wool socks, crash on the couch, do art, surf the web and eat soup, bread and have warm tea going at all times and read. I love making soup and do it instead of a heavy dinner or we have breakfast for dinner. It's an inward type of time, when the earth energies go inside so do I. But I love the winter night sky and how people seem to be less harassing and obnoxious in the winter. I love sitting naked in front of roaring fire and taking as the Indian's say a "fire bath." It cleans your aura and I love staring at a fire in the fireplace.
Of course, after New Years I'm ready to take a cruise to Bermuda and I get crazy from the monotony of winter, and things can get boring around here after the holidays are over. That's when I need to go somewhere else lively to live and wait for spring.
I'll be so HAPPY when Saturn is out of Virgo. I'm counting the days.
Summer is where it's at for me. I love to swim and I love being able to go outside without layers and layers of clothing (I like being unrestricted). Winter is the worst for me. The days are too dark and too short and I always get severely depressed in winter, especially once the holidays are over.
Spring is a lovely time of year and fall is great for Halloween alone. Even though i don't trick or treat anymore, and don't go anywhere that I can dress up, I still love the holiday. And I enjoy spooky stories year round. But I think I'd be satisfied with summer all year. That's probably why I was so happy in Brazil. ![]()
summer...just freedom and blue-sky days....but I hear you, you fallers.....it is often a gorgeous time of year....weather & nature-wise.

A new month, deeper into fall, full moon coming... One of my rituals is to read the astrologyzone forecast (i read it for my rising sign though). Anyone have any new month rituals to share?
