Politicians fallen from grace: redemption, resurrection & reinvention
posted 12 months ago in News and Current Events
Well, I think there's a forgiveness aspect to it all. Who has the energy to hate on someone for a particular deed forevermore?
More....it's just life. We can't live in one moment of disgrace. Life goes on and so must everyone else. For folks like him, politics is what he knows, so it makes sense that he would attempt to get back into that realm. We just move on, is all. People will probably never trust these examples again, but there's no reason why they can't contribute to society despite their prior misbehavior.
Course, I consider his crime petty, Spitzer. For truly heinous crime, there just is no moving past that.
I think this is a signature of America liking to alternately tear someone down and also loving a good comeback story.

I just saw Elliot Spitzer on CNN. It's been about a year since he was caught with the call girl while he was Governor.
I imagine this is his foray back into the public eye, a tiny toe in the water to see if he is still political poison. His biggest misdeed was the hypocracy of attacking enemies on a personal level as well as for their professional alleged crimes while being far from perfect himself.
Used to be that if some one got caught in such blatant amoral, hypocritical, illegal behavior, even as recently as 15 years ago, this would sink someone and their career. Not only them but there would be whispers about their family, etc. Obviously, he is on his road to redemption tour.
What do you think about people who 're-invent ' themselves. Is this part of forgiveness and humanity or is representative of something else.?
I can mention at least 2 other people today that were caught in moral scandals that I saw on Sunday morning tv today all being touted as experts and Standard bearers.(Bill Bennett/gambling and Newt Gingrich/infidelity )
