Rape And The Release Of Prisoners Due Budget Problems

Last night I's intended to watch, "Open Window" but gave up on it half-way through because it was just... disturbing. The movie is about a woman who is raped... every woman's nightmare, she's just going along in her life when all the sudden some bastard shows up and the next thing she knows she is brutalized and left to deal with the aftermath.

We are in climate now where prisoners are being released due budget problems and I wish people were more upset about this. They are releasing predators who will of course PREY on people and while I can appreciate the cost of containing these people, I would rather keep them in jail and get rid of some fat at the top.

That's right. I don't want to spend resources on bureaucrats which we have WAY too many as it is, but on basic services like cops and jails (Saturn) to keep us safe.

Keep this in mind when you vote in 2010.  That's all I'm sayin'. Because I think people are losing sight of how damaging rape is - it is becoming trivialized and I'd sure like to see this turn around.

There are countries where being raped is part of the deal if you are a woman.  Jeez, I hope we do not become one of them.

Bureaucrats, CEOs, lawyers - all those can go. Ever listen to those types talk? They ramble on at length and say exactly nothing.

How does that old say go?

Those who can - Do; Those who can't - Teach; Those who can't teach - Administrate

    Yeah!

    I agree with you, Elsa.

Rape is not a rite of passage. When i was a kid it seemed like it was -- like you would always see some movie about it or tv show, tv shows LOVE to dramatize and attempt to titilate with these awful things. And i would think (as a kid): is rape a rite of passage that a woman must go through. Of course the answer is NO.

2 Billion in federal stimulus money is being spent on law enforcement, for towns and cities to hire more cops.   Most agencies will tell you, the money is desparately needed.  The problem is it comes with a hidden cost.   Because towns and cities don't have the money to buy equipment, train new hires, etc.  In my city, top brass has instituted salary freezes indefinitely.   They say the value of these new cops won't be seen or felt for another three or even four years.    But who wants to wait?  Not the weary public...
