So do we think that this means an increase in the definition of relationships in legal terms, i.e. custody and divorce cases, revisited and reworked?

I am currently on one surreal jaunt of the former kind. What is scary is that what you think is obviously fair in human terms (and I have Venus Libra and Pisces Saturn in the 7th, so I tend to be flexible and open-minded) might not be what works out in the legal arena. OMFG.

    And you all?

Seem to be a lot of "scales" in your chart Pixie D what with Venus Libra and 7th house Saturn. I really hope these scales are about ready to tip in your favour and you get a fair result.

    Good to see you.

PD this article may be of interest: it's from the UK (re. divorce cases, legal aide, and rise in disputes regarding children that the article says "the courts cannot police"

I also have some legal stuff going on as well at the moment. I have realised that what is the most frustrating thing is the deadlines. Either too far into the future or too damn close for comfort. It's like waiting for the results of a smear test ... is it going to be Ok or not.....totally fear based in my case but all the same I would rather know in my time and not down to any third party. Not going to happen, unless I jump the gun, show my hand and lose control. Never a good thing!

I hope that link isn't offensive to anyone going through the court system. My intention isn't to opine anything one way or the other (especially since it isn't my life) I just read the article this morning after seeing PD's post and thought it was very Saturn in Libra.

Good luck to you, Lynn...I had a legal battle that went on for 6 years (ended last year) and the waiting is very difficult.

having been through the family court system a few times, i have absolutely NO faith whatsoever in justice, fairness, or anything remotely resembling equity from the system. outcomes seem to be a combination of sophistication regarding the system and pure dumb luck - not to mention deep pockets in some cases.

though i will say if i had to go back to court now, i'd surely do much better than before, in my early-twenties and clueless as a newborn pup. i would also call elsa first to get my winning strategy!

EVERYTHING THAT GODDESS SAID.  Times two.

It only takes the tiniest amount of experience with the system to instantly lose all faith. And kashmiri, thank you for the article.

well being a taurus I'm used to plodding along but that was ridiculous. after I got over the frustration of losing I found that I had waited that long almost funny. (almost).

I definitely think legal matters will be revisited. Gay marriage may become an important issue.

I'd love to see the data on this, but I bet divorce rated jumped up last time Saturn was in Libra, too.  (That's when my folks got divorced - started the process at the beginning of Saturn in Libra, and ended it years later just before Saturn left Libra. - I know that doesn't make a trend, but kashmiri's article is interesting about the rise in divorce procedures being started now.)

    Hi Lynn!!

Interesting article. I agree that people seem to be using the system instead of mediation, which doesn't make sense to me-- why would you give up the opportunity to devise your own agreement instead of putting it in the hands of a judge who may or may not be having a good day?? That was my proposal that my ex refused.

There are a lot of tragic circumstances in life, but when you are doing everything you can to give your child the best you can offer, and the other parent is an obstacle, I consider that a particularly cruel fate. For the child especially, but it is heartbreaking for the parent as well. I cannot believe what kind of person I apparently blindly reproduced with.

    I am terrified.

I'm sorry. Do you think in time he may come around, or is he against mediation, period?

At some point he's going to have to stop bullying when reality sinks in. Hope it comes soon and we can get to business and fairness. Thanks, ladies!

i've been through mediation as well, Pixie. I saw no discernible difference in quality of  outcome.

Honestly, the reality for me is that once you enter the system - any function of the system, including counselor-run mediation - you are handing the control of outcome to someone else who has their own ideas, biases and agendas. when we went in, what we were saying and doing was simply not seen - the first appointment, we weren't telling the mediator about our thoughts, feelings or concerns. instead we were TOLD by the mediator what our thoughts, feelings and concerns are. it was as if we didn't exist.

and from what i understand both from my exposure to the system and from my friend who works in NY family court - the ugliness and selfishness of parents in such situations is ridiculously common.
