" It's obvious there's going to be a face-off and a victor in the end"
Your question is excellent but I don't agree with this statement at all. Oppositions don't work like that and when is "the end" anyway?

"Pete Seeger explains in one recording, "it refers to an old legend down there, [about] their last king [of the Zulus], who was known as Shaka The Lion. Legend says, Shaka The Lion didn't die when Europeans took over our country; he simply went to sleep, and he'll wake up some day." (See "Senzenina / Wimoweh" on Seeger's With Voices Together We Sing (Live).) cf. sleeping hero"
from wikipedia - The Lion Sleeps Tonight
Point taken and you're right. Maybe that's part of the struggle - the fear that one side is going to have to "die", or that that would be necessary for the energies to stop working against each other? Love the reference to Lion Sleeps and in a strange twist of synchronicity, have been playing that song in the classes I teach all week.
There's a lot of Gen-X folks with Saturn/Uranus opp natally, is that correct? (THough I was born in '67 & don't appear to...)
And i have lots of Aquarius in my chart. Am definitely feeling what you describe. Just rolling with it - nothin else ya can do, right?
Hehe, boy do I relate to this. I feel like with my Aquariun Sun and Moon that I experience this Saturn/Uranus opposition just by virtue of being. When Uranus is exceptionally strong, it is really tough to cope with the heavy Saturn themes in my chart.
I find it helpful to go back to the basics and ponder what it is we're dealing with here, specifically - the inherent teeter-totter of oppositions.
Re-reading these posts from Elsa is really helpful for me:

The Dynamics Of The “Disruptions” On This Blog
I wish I could articulate the backwards and forwards nature of these oppositions a little bit more readily, the way Elsa does in the last paragraphs of her "dynamics" post. I feel like this skill holds the key to the locked doors we get stuck behind. Gotta keep working (saturn) on it, I guess - or, consult with Elsa, since she's such a natural at it!
heavy focus on pushing the status quo closer in the direction of supporting innovation and self actualization....
cracking reality closer to where it can express its spirit.
eh. not sure how much sense that makes.
aquarius moon in the house of the chart ruler, heavily aspected saturn and uranus.

Killer! I am writing about this right now! I am on the right track!

Elsa's post got me thinking about the Saturn/Uranus opposition. Seeing as how both planets rule Aquarius, I'm wondering if there are any other Aquarians out there, or folks with a lot of Aquarius in their chart who are feeling the tug of war even deeper on a very personal level. For me I've got the two energies pulling me in completely opposite ways and I'm feeling so passionate about both sides but still know it's not possible for both sides to win, or even converge in a way I'll be able to live with when all is said and done. There's the Saturn side that is completely ready to settle down and get serious and focus on all the grown up stuff vs. the Uranian side that wants total independence and nothing but rock and roll from here on out. It's always been like this to some degree but at this point it's so intense it's like there are two completely different people living inside and who knows which will come out from one moment to the next. It's obvious there's going to be a face-off and a victor in the end but can be a little scary thinking the other side of me might just have to disappear all together. Any of that make sense? Oddly enough, for being an Aquarius I don't have too many friends, especially close ones that have that energy going on in their own charts. . . .
