I just tossed $400 on bedding. I haven't bought bedding, really, in about 15 years. Single mother, etc. My pillows are still the feather pillows my grand-mother made um... before I was born.

Anyway. My bedroom is a disaster. Living room, dining room etc... Doing OK. Leo Asc. I think.

But my bedroom has been my own little dark secret.

And yet it's where I sleep, dream and whatnot.

I am super stressed, and though happy, I know that I will require a place that uplifts me in my private retreat moments...

I also want to feel like I am getting closer to my dream/fantasy of owning a farmhouse (with wings) that I can offer as a place for people to come and rest.

i love the duvet cover because it feels like both ocean and earth. the sheets will be warm - it's cold here.

and free shipping!! (it remains to be seen if that comes to pass... often companies will try to back out when they find out you live in the godforsaken frozen part of the country.)

Also... These colours are lighter than my other stuff in the main rooms. I tend to go for earthy chocolates reds etc.... I think this will be very soothing in a more gentle way...

ETA: I also like that I can add other sheets of other colours as time goes on...

Good for you.  I've done that before, when I had a job and money, and it was some of the best money I have ever spent on myself

It's not really "luxury" in the strictest sense of the world, but when I'm pulling in a steady paycheck I give myself a "happy payday to me!" present.  Usually it's between 10-20 bucks, but sometimes I seriously splurge.

That's how I got the Blanket of Bankruptcy.  *lol*  I was carrying it around the store just because it was soooooo soft (seriously, tactile heaven) and when the time came to put it down so I could buy what I came for and go, I couldn't do it.  I knew if I came back when I had the money in a few days, it'd be gone -- it was the last one left in that size.  So I actually put myself in serious belt-tightening mode just to have this blanket.

Worth every fuckin' penny...  ;D

Oh Yummy! And on clearance! "YAY" says Libra. This is hard for me to do. One time I had this nice luxurious bedroom that was all decked how I liked it. I was single. I was in a "I'm not living with anyone and am going to have my own killer room" mode. I loved it. But now..it's gone since Ox moved in. We took a different bedroom and the Pisces stellium is in what used to be my heaven.  Everything in my house seems to be in a transition stage and it's a real bummer.

It's really hard for me to splurge on something that might be viewed as a luxury (Chiron in the 2nd). I have guilt. Tremendous guilt.

Good for you!  Everybody needs to pamper themselves once in awhile and the bed/room is the best place to start.  Sleep and the place we sleep is such a vital thing!   If you aren't comfortable/secure there, where are you going to be?   And good sleep/feeling of security fortifies you for the outside world!

I could not agree more! I sleep alone now but I always take care to have my bed looking and feeling gorgeous - good bed linen, must be real cotton (no polyester or shiny stuff), and my fave sets of pillow cases (four or six of each) are self-patterned damask cotton: I use plenty of pillows, I read a lot in bed. I also have lots of antique embossed/ embroidered fine linen pillow cases, from my grandparents' house (my family all moved to 'easy iron'! so some are barely used)

I spent quite a lot on bed linen when I moved back to London in 1987 - sale stuff from http://www.thewhitecompany.com/bedroom/bed-linen/  and it's lasting me very well indeed - penny-pinching in this area is no economy at all ;) and certainly doesn't feed my Moon!

i picked it all up from the post officean hour ago after work. laundering what needs to be laundered now... making the bed before going to rehearsal. in 6 hours i will be in the bath, imagining what it will feel like to sink into these.

I grabbed two hours on the sofa last night (or this morning rarther!) as I was afraid of oversleeping when I had to preare and cook veg for 40 this morning! So I'm looking forward to getting into my bed too...

I have a pinky/mauve set on at the moment; the sheet has an integral valence, very pretty. It has happy memories for me ;) - one of the sets I bought in 83 - but the sheet's getting very thin now :(
